The "Hawkeye" character was sitting there up to his neck in blood, lamenting the horrors of war, then turns around and says something like "Hand me that whoopie cushion over there" and spanks a nurse on the back side.

That is what I loved about the show. You'd have great moments of drama followed by great moments of comedy. I always thought he gave a great performance. True the show wasn't as good at the end, but for most of its run it was a great show

You may be interested to learn that Richard Hornberger, who wrote the original book on which MASH (both the film and TV series) was based, under the name 'Richard Hooker', loathed Alan Alda's portrayal of Hawkeye Pierce.

It is unfortunate that that Hornberger loathes the way Alda portrayed Hawkeye. Personally I can't see anyone else coming anywhere near close to Alda's performance. I would be interested to learn how Hornberger thinks Hawkeye should be portrayed. However may I remind you that if the creator was always right about his creation(s), OT.com would not be here right now.

I hate the fact that Jon Corzine (Dem) was won the Governor election in N.J.

THE COWBOYS HAD ACTUALLT THOUGHT ABOUT SIGNING HIM FOR THIS SEASON, BUT DECIDED THAT THEY DIDN'T WANT TO HAVE TO DEAL WITH HIS ATTITUDE. BESIDES, THE COWBOYS HAVE A PRETTY DAMN SOLID TEAM THIS YEAR.

perhaps I overreacted.

I was referring to little funs things like our rankings, Mangler Inc. and Warbler Inc. Perhaps its time to end them, but I liked them and thought they were fun.

Well, I have never found Alda anywhere near smug, irritating or egotistical. And you can say he ruined M*A*S*H but without Mash never would have been a great show to begin with.

He would make a perfect fit for the Cowgirls(sorry Davy).
