right now, it is one game for the title. But rematch maybe scheduled if desired. If the game ends a draw, Darth Ender retains the title and a rematch is automatically required and you will have to swap colors.

I have no problem with what Warbler did.
I play board games, but generally not chess. The main problems I have with with chess are how long it can take to play a round, and that there’s no theme. I like theme. Plus, I’m better at tactics than abstract strategy.

Yeah, it’s abstract, basically. I know the pieces have a designation and particular shape, but there’s no substance to the game beyond the gameplay itself. There’s nothing additional to immerse me in the experience or to make the game more interesting. If I want to pretend I’m on a battlefield or whatever, I have to do that all myself. The game provides nothing additional for me in aiding or fueling my imagination, and no story by which to become invested in any characters.
To each their own I guess.

After not playing chess for many years, I recently played against myself on a set at a coffee place. Coffee places tend to have chessboards laying around. I played to a draw, but I’ve never been very good.

Under what conditions is a challenge match typically played? Rough timeframe per move? And I’m assuming no consulting with books/computers, right?
There is really no timeframe per move. We do it kinda chess correspondence style. You post your move here in chess notation and your opponent responds with his/her move in chess notation. Of course taking an extremely long period of times risks a forfeit in your opponent’s favor.

Besides, I am not sure the Ot.com Chess Championship is open to mods. It might be a conflict of interest.
I understand the desire for a theme, but chess is actually very heavy on both tactics and strategy.
I just can’t get into the looking-10-moves-ahead business. I can strategize what I’m going to do, and in general if you do this then I do that, but I can’t plan out multi-layered tactics to counter the next 5 successive moves you might make of a possible 300 tactical options available to you.
