Is the problem that they removed the t-shirt, or that they removed what you consider a non-racist t-shirt?

If the t-shirt included the n-word, would it be ok to remove it, or would it still be “sickening?”

If it contained the n-word, it should most definitely have been removed. As it was, I don’t know. Until yesterday I had no idea of any racial connotation behind the words “Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe”, so I don’t know.

I’m generally in agreement, but I think of it the way I think of the game Smear the Queer. When I was a kid I played it and had no idea it could be considered offensive. Now that I know better, if I were playing that game again, I’d call it something else.

I’ve never heard of that game.

So the old saying “Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe . . .” originally included the line "catch a (n-word) . . " in it? I didn’t know this.

I never knew “And Then There Were None” had such an offensive original title. But what does that have to do with the old saying “Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe”?

Both have been modified to remove that which was offensive?

ah, yes.

If it were literally unplayable then it wouldn’t be playable. Another reason why no one takes you seriously is because you use the word literally when it doesn’t apply.

I’d say it’s more about his extreme hyperbole. I know a ton of people who use “literally” incorrectly.

You know 2,000 pounds of people who use “literally” incorrectly?

Yes, a literal ton of people. It’s actually just five big guys.

Is one of them literally Christie?

from wikipedia:

The term political correctness (adjectivally: politically correct; commonly abbreviated to PC[1] or P.C.) in modern usage, is used to describe language, policies, or measures that are intended to avoid offense or disadvantage to members of particular groups in society. In mainstream political discourse and media, the term is generally used as a pejorative, implying that these policies are excessive.

Well I don’t know where that definition comes from but in my mind that proves my point that this is not political correctness. If the cops are giving high fives to ALL the students, then I don’t see how it is in any way politically incorrect.

Well why did the they have stop doing it then?

Despite what some people think, political correctness is NOT over sensitivity for the sake of over sensitivity.

Sometimes I think it is.

Cops are a part of this country and many schools have officers stationed inside them during the day. If anything, this should help the kids with that simple fact. Political correctness ain’t got nothing to with any of it.

I’m not sure what your point here is.

This is a better thread to talk about political correctness in, but here’s a great example of why I hate it:

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/northampton-police-department-high-five-fridays-program-canceled/

You can’t just call everyone doing things you don’t like “political correctness.” Nothing about this has anything to do with political correctness, just stupid parents being annoying as often happens.

sure seems to be bit of political correctness to me.

Now that I’m back at my board, I’m not sure why you feel that was such a bad move. I mean, your position is a little messy, but material-wise we’re still even.

You missed a much better move.

I will give you the courtesy you gave me and give a chance to look again and change your mind.

Here’s a nice story for a change.

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/320572-muslim-led-fundraiser-to-repair-vandalism-at-jewish-cemetery

A Muslim-led fundraiser to repair anti-Semitic vandalism at a Jewish cemetery in St. Louis blew past its initial fundraising goal on Tuesday.

The fundraiser, titled “Muslims Unite to Repair Jewish Cemetery,” had raised more than $40,000 from more than 1,400 donors as of around 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, pushing well past its $20,000 fundraising goal.

An update on the campaign’s website via Launch Good says the fundraising goal was reached in just three hours.

Vandals destroyed nearly 100 headstones at the Chesed Shel Emeth Society cemetery in St. Louis on Monday. The incident comes as a growing number of Jewish community centers across the country received a wave of bomb threats — 11 centers received threats on Monday alone, the JCC Association of North America reported.

huh? what? I thought all Muslims were terrorists that we had to ban from coming into the country?
