I had a parchment copy of the Declaration of Independence when I was a kid. It was probably a Bicentennial thing since my family visited Philly in '76.

I have one of the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights. They sold those things at historic sites in Philly. The did so in the 80’s as well. For all I know, they still might.

I was just in Philly today visiting the Museum of the American Revolution.

They still sell the parchment copies of the various historic documents.

btw, I noticed a plot hole in an episode of Voyager on tv the other day. It was the one where they find that very small wormwhole. They discover it leads back to the alpha quadrant. They make contact with a Romulan. They come up with a plan to beam everyone through the wormhole. Yoyager would be lost, but the crew would be back home. Only one problem, they find out at the end of the episode that the wormhole not only travels to the Alpha quadrant, but 20 years into the past. So they give up again.

Just one problem: the writers of this episode must have forgotten about TOS Episodes “Tomorrow Is Yesterday” and “Assignment: Earth” Star Trek IV, and Star Trek First Contract". All the crew would have needed to do is beam through the wormhole and find a warp capable ship and slingshot around a sun using the correct calculations and they could travel 20 years into the future.

Yeah, things sadly got pretty goofy towards the end with him. I liked him better with shades of gray. Would have been more poetic if Kira had been able to kill him though.

Worf should have killed him, for Jadzia.

What would you have thought about him being tried and executed for crimes against Bajor? I think that would’ve been the best and most just way to end him.

hmm, perhaos tried, sentenced to death, killed by Worf while attempting escape?

She may well be a good actress and she may be a good pick if you are looking for female Doctor. But I just can’t accept a female Doctor. Sorry.

What I wouldn’t have had a problem with, is if they had just done a spin off with a female Timelord. They could have had the Doctor bump into some lady and notices that she has one of those pocket watches. Maybe her parents hid her on earth to save her from the time war or something like that. The pocket watch opens and she remembers she is a Time Lady, and she remembers that she has a tardis hidden as something. Have it be that the Chamelon circuit actually works on her Tardis. I probably would like that show.

I do agree with you about having more stand alone episodes. I am also tired of the overblown epicness all the time. Another thing a tired of is the sort of killing off of companions. Why can’t companions leave like they did in the original series?

We have seen / been told that Gallifreyans regenerate into a different sex before too - The Corsair or The Master/Missy for example…

There’s that tired excuse again. This “precedent” was created after Moffat was accused of sexism and the new fangirls started demanding a female Doctor. Since then to combat that image he kowtowed and started to introduce those elements. Nowhere in the classic series is something like this hinted at. If NuWho can’t get the Doctor’s age right, I’m certainly not going to trust it with something like this.

I’ll be watching the Christmas Special and first episode of series 11 but will probably be stopping after that. I would not be surprised to see the show’s ratings start to drop after this.

Not so much a ‘tired excuse’ if it is new, no?

To me it’s all the same series - Doctor Who.

We also recently saw a Gallifreyan regenerate from an old white man into a young black woman - just seemed to be part of the Gallifreyan life.

Did it ever happen before Missy came along? Did it ever happen in the old series? We went 50 years without a regeneration causing a gender change. Moffat added that capability for PC reasons, as oojason said.

I certainly didn’t say it was for pc reasons.

Correct, you didn’t. I don’t know how I thought you had said that. I should have said “as Tobar said”. Again, you have my apologies.

my opinion is that the electoral college needs changing*, and gerrymandering needs to be fixed.

*I would change from votes to points, the eliminate the faithless elector problem. Each state would get the number electoral points equal the number of electoral votes they get now. Points would be rewarded in each state by the percentage of the popular vote in the candidate wins in each state. Lets NJ has 20 electoral points. Lets say candidate X wins 50% of the popular vote in NJ. Candidate X would be awarded 10 electoral points from NJ.
