I think seeing the same specific ship in the Prequels would be almost as ridiculous as seeing a child Han, or the existing scene of Chewbacca. Just pure fan service that shrinks the universe.

I'm all for a consistent "hero ship" throughout the PT, just not the falcon.

This. I say fix the writing and characterization before even touching the special effects.

I suppose this is as good a place as any -

As of later today, I'm a missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As such, I'll be gone for two years. (Going to Idaho!)

I expect progress when I get back, guys! Thanks for hours of entertainment in watching edits, speculating, and thinking about one of the best film franchises of all time. You've given hope to those who have none! The choize is yours alone! (this is a Shmi reference for those who don't get it)

Goodbye for now,
Vladius

Info & Ideas: ESB and ROTJ Wishlist

lol, I use emoticons for the same purpose.

When people think of iconic Star Wars, they think of all three movies. Force ghosts, ewoks (not actually referred to as such within the movie,) the Emperor and his guards, the rancor, Jabba, speeder bikes, the sarlacc, A-Wings, Admiral Ackbar - all classic designs. I think the influence of Lucas is a little bit apparent, but overall it's still one of my favorite movies and the rest of the cast and crew pulled it out of the fire. Even people who hate ROTJ still usually love all of the things taking place in space with the battle and the confrontation between Luke, Vader, and the Emperor. When I watched it as a kid, it was my favorite because it had all the cool aesthetics, music, limb-severing and stuff from the other films, and it was funny in a way I could understand. As kitschy as it was, "bad" humor with puppets is better than any humor with Prequel CGI.

I think it's an Act I, Act II, Act III kind of thing. Of course Empire is the darkest, which is why you need a return (heh) to the adventure and fun. It's the same reason the Dark Knight Rises and The Last Crusade are great movies that wrap things up tonally, and sometimes edge out as my favorites of their respective threes.

It's very stylized and not really supposed to be taken seriously, even less seriously than the prequels I'm sure. I love it for what it is, but it's not really supposed to cover the same ground as the CG show. It's intentionally Genndy Tartakovsky having Samurai Jack-style fun with explosions and swords.

That said I did try to include the cartoon kidnapping of Palpatine in my own edit, but all the people around me went "BUT IT'S A DIFFERENT STYLE" and I couldn't quite get the stuff off the DVDs.
