Saw it in IMAX 3D, my wallet hurt but my intelligence wasn't.
7 out of 10.
I figured out pretty early on that Khan wasn't going to be the only villain this time around, but I didn't suspect the twist with Admiral Marcus being such a hothead. Was surprised they referenced more from Space Seed and TOS than TWOK.

The look of the Borg is amazingly similar to the robotic minions in Captain Eo, who also have a queen.
You implying something? The Queen in CEO is more Gigeresque and organic looking, plus lots of cheap space films from that era used sports equipment spray painted to look futuristic.
Spock looks nothing like Spock...really off putting for me even more than the guy playing Chekhov in J.J. ST franchise.
Are you sure the scans on the site are big enough? I trust the recreated commercial will be HD, the lower sized scans won't look good.
Douche.
I don't know how valid scans of a degraded 70mm print can be when comparing to screencaps taken off of digitally mastered material.
Favorites: Millennium Falcon taking off from Tatoonie, Death Star explosion, new sail barge, the Wampa cave, new Emperor hologram and a livelier Mos Eisley. (Even though the CGI is crap, it looks like a spaceport.)
Least Favorite: CG X-Wings, CG Jabba (both versions look like shit), Jedi Rocks, Boba Fett in ANH and Hans broken neck.
ANH: Blu-ray or unaltered DVD
ESB:Blu-ray
ROTJ: Unaltered DVD or SE LaserDisc
Would love to watch some of the fanedits but my PC cannot handle the strain of trying to burn DVDs and Torrents are too troublesome for me.
Didn't care because the special editions were my first exposure to Star Wars that I remember. Wasn't till about 2006 that I learned about it.
I watched some of TWOK and the other ST films on SyFy and BBC2 HD, I assume they were HD copies since they looked pretty good.
Actual models, that's how the 97' special editions should've been done. Was it so expensive to re-composite old F/X and shoot new stuff?
Here's my takes on it.

So does anyone know if the current television version of TWOK is the same as the directors cut DVD?
Then someone needs to do a edit for it, since Paramount looks like it isn't gonna bother releasing the proper versions on Blu-ray.
Starfield is too overpowering, maybe have it fade more into the scene over time and do something like the ORION pictures logo. Morph the stars into the Paramount logo.
It's 2001 with lots of Biblical allusions and cheaper effects. The ending though it more fucked up than Sunshine or 2001.
Don't own the box that houses the videos...I bought them individually. Some Photoshop and cropping work is needed. Here is a sample (not at full resolution).
Do you want me to upload them to a site or send them via email?
I own all of the tapes needed, I can scan the boxes if you'd like.

Isn't the directors cut also known as the extended edition?
Damn. Is there any plans to do an extended version?
I'd rather not pay $60 to import the Japanese release when I have the movie on virtually every other format.
I still own the Criterion LD, in fact its the only Robocop movie I have. Best looking version in my opinion, so I'm excited about this project.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers? I can see that.
Freaking Latino Review will print/post anything to get attention. Wouldn't trust them as a reliable source.
My town is freaking dead right now, I haven't seen any of my friends in person for over a month and my favorite store is closed due to personal matters.
Plus nobody responds to any questions I ask on Facebook.
This is great, the TT Blu-ray was the worst $30 I ever spent.
On the Directors Edition commentary for TWOK, Nick Meyer comments about how the TV versions are basically the directors cut seen on the DVD.
Is this true or was he mistaken? I've watched TWOK many times on the 2002 DVD and have only seen chunks of it on TV.
I'd love to get a HD version of it.
