Community Focus Thread: Bad Batch (with less Batch)
Time

The Bad Batch came and went… and it did not leave much impact at all. Project Necromancer was set up, only to be shut down. The Batch itself has been written into retirement.

The most relevant stuff seems to be the side content, much of which is left unfinished story wise. (Rex’s Clone Underground, the senate storyline etc.)

So this thread is meant to brainstorm together if we can salvage these side stories (assuming another show will finish them) without focus on the Bad Batch.

My 2 Cents:

Baseline:

  1. Omega is not special. The Empire is not hunting for her specifically, but is experimenting on Clones in general.
  2. Project Necromancer is not named, we only know the Empire is doing experiments regarding Clones.
  3. The Bad Batch is a bit like the A-Team in this. They get called in to help, but for the most part the story is not ABOUT them.

Season 1

Episode 1

We take episode 1 of the show, trim it down and remove anything that hints at Omega being anything but a normal clone that happens to be female. We intercut with the Kamino scenes from episode 14, which show the Kaminoans being worried and planning their escape as well as the evacuation of the facility. After the Batch has escaped, we go right to the destruction of Kamino, the presence of the Bad Batch during the destruction is completely cut.

Episode 2

We see the Ryloth conflict from the perspective of Hera, the Bad Batch only shows up as side characters (like in “Tales of the Rebel” by G00b)

Season 2

Episode 3

Crosshairs Journey from season 2, ending on him being captured and put into the brainwashing program, which sets up the Clone Assasins for the next Episode and the Stormtroopers.

Episode 4

The senate storyline from season 2, also without focus on the batch. They only come into the story when Rex calls them in to retreive the recording of the destruction of Kamino. We end on the note that the age of the stormtrooper begins.

Episode 5

We start wth episode 2x14, where clones are being freed. There, we get the setup for Hemlock and Tantiss in the data that Echo gets out of the computer. Crosshair is still just being programmed to be an assasin. We see the infighting between Hemlock and Tarkin. The Empire has no special interest in Omega, they are doing only doing experiments with Clones in general. The attack on Tarkins Station plays out like it does in the show, just cut down. Omega is captured, just because she is another test subject among many.

Season 3

Episode 6

Now this is where it gets tricky. The show would need a cold opening structure or something to make this work. We take the scenes of Crosshair getting himself free and trying to send a signal in 2x14 and recontextualize. Instead od trying to send a message, he is trying to get out. We show basically everything (Crosshair taking out guards) but the last bit in the communication room (where he gets caught again) as a cold opening, cut to the Intro and imply that he escaped offscreen.
From here we go to the reunion from 3x04 and cut Omega out, some wide shots would need to have her painted out. We go directly into the crew getting Hemlock free (that episode can be cut down to 2-3 scenes) and the attack on Tantiss plays out. We see Nala Se destroying her research, Hemlock die, Tarkin taking over, the clones freed and also see the Batch retiring. Especially in this episode it might be difficult to play off Omega as just another Clone, but it might be possible.

The thing missing from this is setup for the Zillo Beast.

But all this just to get the conversation started. I know there are many people with great ideas here. 😃

Star Wars Episode II: The Approaching Storm (Released)
Time

Finally got around to watching this and boy it makes a difference. Switching the Padme and Anakin scenes around did wonders. Going from the kiss directly to the balcony scene… just genius.

Taking out all of the Gunray side plot that made no sense whatsoever was also such a good decision.

The movie is kinda watchable and coherent now. Same goes for Episode 1.

The only thing I would change about these is to remove the Grievous conversation with Palps in Episode 3, because that just creates some serious questions. Since you provided the HQ files, maybe I will do that alternate Cut on a rainy sunday afternoon.

It’s nice, though I do think the 2nd shot should have more mist if possible.

Thanks for the feedback!

I will try to add more. Wanted to see if I can get away with this.
More detail: That shot has a Wipe transition on it, which makes multilayer roto work a bit of a pain.

I also have added some colorful glow around the planet and cooked up a new intro, new images will follow soon. Finally got a clear direction for the edit!

It would be a real challenge if you were able to somehow edit the season in a way where Omega rescues crosshair but then Omega gets captured before leaving. Crosshair finds his brothers and together rescue omega. I just don’t like how she escapes and then is captured again and then escapes again. Reminds me too much of the ahsoka pike fillers from season 7.

It could resolve the issue of Pabu getting attacked by the Empire and therefore being aware of the happily ever after location for the Batch. That whole thing could be cut.

Yesh, I think Ventress will be back in the next project, but without connection to her appearance here. It was just a little teaser for her return, nothing more.

I have to agree with the feedback someone gave here for Movie 2: The Phee scenes where 2 missions get teased, but do not come to fruition, feel a bit off.

I don’t exactly know how to resolve it. Maybe it is enough if the second scene shows them hanging out in the bar, listening to Phees stories to show that they are not busy currently?
So the Dooku mission gets brought up to show she has ideas too crazy even for the Batch, the second one makes us question her truthfulness and sanity? Would need a dialogue change when the Batch is called by Rex, but maybe thats doable?

There is an instance in the first Cad Bane scene where Omegas Bow just disappears from her back.
I think adding the few missing seconds there is worth it to not have the Continuity issue. 😃

What is it about that bow? 🤣

Just got round to looking at this. You’re correct. I’d cut Todo knocking the bow out of Omega’s hand. D’oh. Its back in and will be updated when I release episode 2.

Did you get around to this change and the blurry image sequence from ep2 yet? If yes, I would like a link to the new versions. 😃

Also: With one episode left and the Zillo beast playing a big role in the Finale presumably… What does the game plan fpr movie 3/4 look like currently?

Yes it’s fixed. The file is in the original folder link.

At this point my 1 or 2 movie plan depends on the length of the final episode. If it’s a standard length I think a 1-movie edit it doable.

Downlaoded again, the fix in episode 1 does not seem to be there.

Got further into episode 2 and at around 50:00 the music comes only from the left

Ahh sorry. I thought you were taking about the EP2 blurring that you mentioned. That is fixed and uploaded. I’ll replace EP1 with the fixed bow version.

Absolutely no reason to apologise. You are doing a great service to this community. 😃

Anything beforehand ruins Luke entrance on Ahch-To.

It’s one of those “I wish Lucasfilm would have done it but we can assume it happened between movies” things.

MAYBE, some kind of throwaway line from Kylo to Rey, about ignoring Luke’s persistent attempts to bring him back to the light.

I think any solution would have to be visual, because there is already so much being resolved via dialogue only.

Rough idea: What if Lukes Ghost is visible in the background of these two shots:
https://ibb.co/K2H6ZCn
https://ibb.co/9s3dhQx
It would be 2 very brief, visual appearances (maybe even make him blurry), both in scenes where Kylo is going through a decision process on whether to follow the dark side. Also, it would (kinda) follow the rule of threes, with Luke making 2 silent appearances to Kylo and then a third one with dialogue to Rey. It also visually foreshadows the image of the Force Ghosts standing behind Rey in the end.

edit: the second shot specifically would be cool because Kylo would be literally standing between Vaders Mask and Luke, visually representing his struggle.

(The Mandalorian+BoBF) The Way of Mandalore | A Legends Movie Saga (Final Update in Progress: 5/6 Done)

How about this (needs more “pathos”, more about the general idea):

DD: Your people believe it is to be earned in combat, i know. But you did not loose Mandalore, because you accepted this weapon as a gift. You lost Mandalore because our tribes were splintered, caught in a cycle of fighting each other. Mandalorians have fought over beliefs, grudges and… this weapon. If the darksaber really is meant to be a symbol of our unity, we must not fight each other over it. It shall be a gift, given from one Mandalorian to another… one tribe to another… Because we are one people. Exiled from our home. Wouldnt it be our best chance to retake our home… together?

I think making the “rules” behind the darksaber a parallel to the Mandalorian infighting of the tribes has some potential. It also sets up the lesser importance of the weapon, making the unification of the tribes Bo Katans claim to fame.

edit:
As to the resolution of the Mandalore storyline. Since there is a good Armorer Model around, maybe a few scenic shots of Mandalore with a voiceover of her could do the trick? She could talk about how after the retaking of Mandalore and the destruction of the darksaber the tribes united in the belief in the Mythosaur and Bo Katan (who bears his symbol). It breaks the “show dont tell” rule, but since we have to work with what we got, it might be worth considering.

Or maybe it is all total bullshit and the Mandalorian clan is indeed just a cult, but that’s the fun of it all. That’s how most of the galaxy perceives Mandalorians in the first place.

A thought that crossed my mind: The normal Mandos have the belief in the darksaber, the CotW the belief in the Mythosaur, both indicating the true leader of Mandalore.
The darksaber gets destroyed, but Bo Katan still is accepted as a leader. Not knowing your exact plans, maybe it is possible to do something with this thematic connection to resolve the darksaber thing which was kinda brushed aside in the show?

You already established that belief in the Mythosaur is belief in Mandalore. So what if the normal Mandos kinda also make a step towards the beliefs of the CotW. Mandalore has been retaken despite the darksaber being destroyed, so apparently (in their eyes at least), it was not the signifier they thought it was, so they accept the Mythosaur as a representation of Mandalore and the justification for Bo Katans claim to leadership.

This way each side would move a little bit towards the other. The CotW are less dogmatic about the helmet thing and the normal Mandos take on a core bit of belief of the CotW, with both groups now having a newly established common ground they can build upon, giving the Mandalorians as a people some nice growth.

Hope this was not too convoluted.

The Armorer Convo is getting close.

The beginning of line regarding the fallen Forge being her grave is not clearly audible I think. (The first 2 or 3 words), but the conversation itself flows nicely now in my opinion.

With the Mando scene in Tattoine a few exchanges sound tonally disconnected. If you happen to have a script for that as a basis, I could toss some ideas around. 😃

The Star Tours easteregg is not too obvious, had to listen to it twice to actually get it.
