I saw that one the scale... I just mean that the title of the thread is kind of excluding.

What if James Cameron, the guy who invented DVNR, or the guy who invented DVNR's mom came to this board? Wouldn't they feel bad?

I guess you're right TheBoost. You do have a point. I'll change the thread title. Anyway, the scale doesn't really necessitate hating DVNR.

I was just goofin' off. You're right, DVNR sucks.

I am really sick and tired of all the anti American crap I see on the web everyday.   I know we've done some bad things, but contrary to popular belief,  America is not out to conquer the world.     I tired of people that think "I'M COOL!!!   I HATE THE BIG BAD USA".    I'm tired of being made to feel shame just because I'm proud of my country.   I've had enough of all of that shit.   Why is it I see more hatred spewed against my country than I do against countries like North Korea or Iran or Libya or against monsters like Bin Laden and Gaddafi and Ahmadinejad and what not.  I've had enough of all of that shit.    I'M AS MAD AS HELL AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!

While not being jingoistic or trumpeting a "my country, right or wrong" mentality, I'll agree with you here that there's a lot of anti-America stuff out there on the interwebs.

I'd say that for every thoughtful critique or justified attack on American policies, there's at least one ignorant diatribe filled with vague notions and self-righteous if somewhat unfocused anger.

I think there are plenty of pundits online who can list from memory every inequality and mistake the US has ever committed, and probably couldn't give you more than a cursory understanding of who murdering asshats like Quadaffi even are.

A question for everyone here...It is 1994 and YOU are in charge of the entire production and story ideas for the PT films

this is not meant for people to tell their own story line or script for the pt but more of how would you have gotten the ball rolling on production and who would you hire  etc..etc

I'd hire Richard Donner as a director. He's shown he can deal with young actors (Goonies) and special effects (Superman). I'd start the script ASAP and be prepared to put lots of work into it and drafts of it. I'd hire Lawrence Kasdan to co-write it. To re-ignite Star Wars fever, I'd plan a big re-release of the OT... but I'd make these editions SPECIAL by re-inserting deleted scenes.

re: the day the earth stopped - isn't that by the company that makes heaps of low budget knock-offs like transmorphers and unoffical sequels like titanic 2 and war of the worlds 2?

if it's 'so bad it's good' i might have to chech it out.

That company ("the Asylum") is not so bad it's good. It's just bad. I've seen a few of their films.

The one exception is "Sherlock Holmes." That's actually not half bad (if a bit cheap and cheesy), and has Sherlock fighting ROBOT DINOSAURS!

the reasons why episodes 7 8 and 9 will/should be made

Second the story line dictates it  and it needs it.   After episode 6 the  galaxy is still in turmoil. the  jedi council  needs to be restablished and the republic rebuilt

I for one never thought this. The Empire is destroyed, and things are looking up for everyone, and the people did it without Jedi (for the most part) so why are they so important?

Star Wars could have been a modern day Iliad.

No sith in the movies can amount up to Darth Maul. I don't see how you can deny that he has potential.

Potential to do what? Be silent and look cool? Because that's all he does.

If he started talking and was given motivations and a backstory, he would have become lame... like Boba Fett did.

Maul did what he needed to do. Look cool, fight, and die. So did Boba.

They knew their role and shut their mouths.

3 ways Marcia Lucas (then wife of George Lucas) saved Star Wars
Time

Yet, this is the general view in a given SW forum:

I have been led to believe, that Lucas won't release the original theatrical versions, because if he does, he will be forced to pay his ex wife Marcia royalties, as she was involved in the editing process, on all three OT films.

She took half of his wealth when they divorced in 1983 (but left Amanda behind? What a great Mom!) Marcia crippled Lucasfilm and left Lucas broke. He had to build his Empire back up. If that hadn't occurred, we would have gotten the first Star Wars prequel in 1989 (which was the original plan) and we may have even gotten a third trilogy (my speculation here) starting in 1999.

This is partly why he changed the OT movies for their 20th anniversary; change them just enough and they aren't totally the same movie any more and he wouldn't be under any legal obligation, to feed her any more dollars. He got away with releasing the original cuts on DVD, as they are 'bonus features' If my missus left me and our daughter, for an artist who worked for me and took half of my Empire; I wouldn't [censored] on her, if she were on fire, let alone pay her royalties for a film series, that isn't even hers to begin with.

Besides being dumb on all levels, and more than a little mysoginistic... legally this can't hold any water and to think it does is lunacy. It's like saying John Williams wouldn't get his royallty because they cut four seconds of one of the themes.
