Last web series/tv show seen
Time

There's a cooking show called "Annie and Sally's Grocery Bag" (or something) where two women who aren't good cooks and don't know how to use fancy cooking stuff try out cookbooks and are then judged by some famous cook.

I dig it because I can relate to the hosts. My wife and I have had it on in the background for our morning routine for a few days now.

opinions on film restoration/preservation and how it applies to Star Wars - what do you think should/should not be allowed?
Time

I think the Star Wars Special Editions are totally cool provided

  • The best copy of the original is available, preserved as close to it's original version as possible allowing for changes in media. This is obviously grounds for some discussion on details (matte lines for ex) but the general rule of "no intentional artistic or aesthetic change" should be followed.
  • The SE is clearly labeled "A New Hope: 2011 Altered Edition" so as not to confuse the consumer. Otherwise, the film is Lucas's property and anything he wants to do is fine with me.

PT box cover art now revealed:

Is that a gag? Because it's HORRIBLE on every level.

And just goes to show the PT must be viewed after the OT... because Yoda is unimportant and unlikeable in the PT, and the films are clearly counting on you already loving him from how wonderful a character he was in ESB.

Idea: HBOs "ROME" into "Julius Caesar"
Time

This summer vacation, I might partake to transform episodes of HBOs awesome “Rome” into a 2hr movie roughly following the plot of Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar”

This roughly covers episodes 9-18, meaning near nine hours of programing. But right off the bat I’ll be cutting almost all of the soldier character’s storylines, as well as the intrigue between the women (except where absolutly necessary), so that should cut it to a manageable length.

The main problem I see is there’s no really good ending scene, but the play ends rather abruptly as well, so maybe that’s for the best.

What do you LIKE about the EU?

I think they went too far with actually killing Chewie off, though. They could have done anything short of killing him or any other major character from the films and still acheived their goal.

I gave up the EU for years after the death of Chewie (but the reason was the book was awful).

But I understand why Chewie died. How exciting is a series of books where you know for a fact no matter where the story goes and what happens, the status quo for the core dozen characters will never ever change?

By the New Jedi Order series there were the film characters in their 50s who after 30 years of fighting had never suffered anything ever.

Now Chewie's dead, a couple of Han's kids are dead, Luke's wife is dead. While I don't think these have improve the EU much I can at least read a book and no longer know exactly how it's going to end.
