Couple people PM’d me for this recently. I haven’t responded yet because I’m actually in the process of working on a Version 2. I don’t have an estimate of when I’ll be finished, I’ll update the first post when I have links ready.

Few things of note…

VIDEO:

• I’m redoing all of the AI upscales across the board. (Version 1 was my first time using the software and I made a lot of rookie mistakes.)
• Removing the 6 seconds of black I added to the start of all 3 episodes. This was done for delay purposes when I was casting to my TV, but I’d rather have the timing be 100% accurate.

AUDIO:

• I’m using a much better method for creating the 5.1 sound mixes.
• S1 Finale: Adding back the whooshing sound that was absent on the DVD, but present on the HDTV broadcast for the Season 1 Finale.
• S3 Finale: I’ll be doing some sound design work to the sequences that I don’t have a 5.1 source for. Mainly Jack driving to the funeral parlor. I thought those parts really stood out like a sore thumb on Version 1.

Geez. Some of the users on these forums are insufferable. The entitlement in their questioning is unreal. This is a fan project. They’re gonna make it the way they want. If you don’t like it, make your own edit.

What’s the plan for this when it’s finished? Is this going to be shared publicly or is this for donors only?

From what you’ve shown, this is exactly the tone I wanted out of the show. I can’t believe we ended up with such a mess. I hope you can get a full movie out of it.

I had started to do an edit but wasn’t thinking as radically. One thing we both had the same idea on was having the first Owen scene end with the Inquisitors showing up for the first time. They’re just so ass in the show that I lost interest in pursuing the edit further.

I’m curious, is it possible to remove those extra flashes where their sabers aren’t clashing? Is that something you tried? Those always bothered me.

It’s when they’re talking to each other and they’re not striking or attacking at all. But there’s huge flashes still.

This all sounds good to me. I’m looking forward to seeing your tweaks to the existing footage.

I think people that are disappointed are forgetting that your Battle of Hoth was largely the same but still featured fun surprises and plenty of visual upgrades.

Did the Endor shoot ever happen? Or did Covid mess all that up? I remember seeing the FB post about the B-Wing shoot. That stuff looked awesome.

Also Ady, I sent a PM to you a while back about DTS-HD. I can master the audio tracks, I have the suite. Let me know. Would be an honor to help out on Revisited.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone out there has a high quality HDTV broadcast of Season 3 Episode 23. This project will greatly benefit from the added quality.

yes it is… i feel like shamook belongs in this community… his work is fantastic… if you want to try and reach out I say go for it… how many of us can he ignore? we must rally together lol…

I know in the past you said your edits are their own canon, but does anything currently happening in Mando Season 2 change your plans for the next pass on Empire?

Anything to report on this? Really interested in the project. All of the samples you’ve shown so far are awesome.

Yeah I’m not sure what the thinking was behind releasing any blu rays with the finales split. I understand doing that for streaming and potential syndicated runs, but the official blu rays should be a time capsule of what aired.

Thank you! I was fortunate that when I started working on this project again, AI Topaz Labs offered a free trial of their new Video Enhancer tool. It really brought the quality up close enough that I could cover a lot of the transitions between footage with simple cross fades. And overall the results I got with the DVDs are pretty great. Still, part of me hopes that someone out there sees this some day and they are sitting on a gold mine of high quality 720P HDTV rips of all 3 episodes lol

All of the edit lists are finished. Again, if anyone has 720p HDTV rips please don’t hesitate to reach out in a PM. They would be invaluable for this preservation.

SpacemanDoug has agreed to add the edits to MySpleen on my behalf for now. I also have Google Drive links if anyone wants to PM me.

Actually the US versions of 4 and 5 are the original broadcast versions on Blu Ray. Which is why it’s even more frustrating that 1, 2 and 3 were split.
