Would that be like splicing new footage with the old OT footage? Wouldn't you be able to see when it cuts back to the OT, since it would be <DVD quality?

well, laserman claims he'd be able to color/quality match the scenes up. he does this sort of thing for a living. sweet, eh?

How about use the video transfer of the '93 LD and have two audio tracks: 93 version and 89 version if you can get the two different transfers to synch right. Also, you could have the EPISODE IV: A NEW HOPE crawl and the non-ANH crawl as an option (alternate angles, the prequel DVDs have a Spanish and French crawl as alternate angles at that time). That'd be awesome.

i like that idea a lot!!! rikter, i think it would be very worthwhile to pick up the '89 disc. i purchased one off ebay last week and am waiting for it to arrive. even a straight rip onto dvd would be worth having.

Hey R2- Holiday Special truely isn't dead...

my god, i recently saw that thing for the first time. it is so bad it's good. my favorites include every scene harrison ford is in...he tries so hard to bring some gravitas to the production but there's no helping it. i also like how he and chewie are so lovey dovey throughout, with all the pats on the back and "pal" this and "pal" that, and the hug near the end...oh it just melted my widdle heart. THEN there's bea arthur in the cantina, caterwauling that horrific show tune and flirting with the aliens...fsking priceless. and what about itchy's little VR sex sim, that was disturbing!

Continuity Errors in the OT

ARG! i keep posting blank posts. sorry guys, also the edit feature only pops up sporadically. anyway, on with the post...

i noticed a blooper in ESB during the luke/vader duel in the carbonite chamber. after vader falls of the platform, luke hops down after him. if you watch carefully in the lower left hand corner of the screen, you can see that mark landed on a trampoline and his head bobs back up into the shot. it's pretty funny.

also, in rotj, in the space scene outside the death star immediatly before sidious arrives, some of the TIE fighters disappear the instant just before the scene changes to the death star interior.

well the actual welding only lasts a few seconds, then Han saunters in and they start making with the smooches (my hands are dirty). so what i'm wondering is, on the defective definitive collection LD pressing, is there just a delay or is there actually missing footage, and if so how much exactly? that is, does the defective LD match the TR47 or the anamorphic rip of ESB? i recently purchased the definitive laser box set, but i haven't got a player yet to check ESB. i wish i discovered this forum before i purchased, but i figure either version is worth owning. incidentally, yesterday i purchased the '89 ws laser of star wars to get the audio with C3PO's tractor line (plus the sundry other subtle differences i'm hoping incl open the blast doors and sound effects). it seems to me like this disc would be a good source audio for mixing in with laserman's eventual ultimate edition.

what say you, ladies?

1st time posting for this lurker...

stop me if you've heard this one before, but i just noticed something novel regarding the missing leia welding footage (stemming from the defective definitive collection 1st pressing). so tonight i was watching the TR47 version of ESB, and i decided to compare it to intact versions to measure how much footage was actually missing. it turns out that, to my eye, there is apparently NO missing footage whatever, only a ~3.5 second pause. i was comparing it to both the THX widescreen vhs ESB (yes the rare one) as well as the SE widescreen vhs ESB. there is no lost footage here, folks, only a delay. am i wrong?
