I wouldn’t find it all that worth it for any of the characters to sport a beard for the sake of it

In my suggestion I explained my reasoning for Kylo Ren needing a beard in TRoS — it would be a way of visualizing that he is no longer the “child” he was in TFA and TLJ but rather a man. He no longer acts immaturely. He no longer throws such hissy fits.

I am kinda against explicitly foreshadowing Palpatine’s return in any of the first eight movies (Palpatine’s immortality interest, Vader’s “Death Star’s insignificant next to the Force power”, the music, Snoke’s similarities to Palps, and “Show me AGAIN, the power of the darkness” don’t count as “explicit foreshadowing”).

The whole point of TLJ is, by the end of the movie, that hope has been reignited, that the First Order will be destroyed, Luke even inspires the galaxy with his return, having come to terms with his legacy. The broom boy ending shows that Luke’s inspired hope, and the boy himself is hopeful, even in slavery.

If Palpatine had been set up in TLJ, it would take that way, that hope would all be meaningless since we would know that Palpatine is just going to come back and ruin everything.

EDIT: I think I’m on the verge of changing my mind. TLJ was always going to have a sequel, and it’s literally Episode VIII. It could never have been an Episode IX. Plus, I think this criticism might be hypocritical enough to be applied to the Marvel movies and such.

Regarding “I’ll find you.” I get where you’re coming from, and I understand your intentions, but I kinda feel leaving it at just that is kind of awkward. (It’s a personal, subjective kinda thing, but… yeah.)

So I have a suggestion, replace the entire line with something along the lines of: “Rey, help me. Please.” I get the point of the original line, it’s to play into Rey’s fears of turning to the dark side, so I preserved that while also avoiding having Kylo Ren explicitly reveal his intentions of corrupting Rey. Here, Kylo is trying not to reveal his intentions, while also asking for her help against Palpatine, but Rey sees through it anyways.

A lot of the attempts at comedy (especially that scene with Hux) in the movie feel like they’re from SNL rather than Star Wars.

Definitely recommend making Rey’s arc of specifically letting go of her parents stronger, so it’d feel like a definitive conclusion to the story arc of Rey and her parents. You are expanding upon many interpretations you’ve seen, after all.

I thought she was there two thirds of the way through TLJ, but yes, you’re right.

Nope. Her TLJ arc was about moving past her parents and realizing she shouldn’t hinge her life and worth around them specifically, because they’re toxic, drunken parents who threw her away like garbage, and realizing that she can still get validation from the Resistance. Just because that, doesn’t mean she suddenly, magically stops feeling unworthy of her role as a Jedi.

@DrVibble The thing is that when Rey says her “I am all the/a Jedi” line, it signifies she finally feels worthy of who she wants to be — a Jedi. Because of her inner self-loathing (I’m not going to waste time typing here, but there’s a link in my signature), she never feels worthy or deserving of being a Jedi. When she does say the “I am” line, it signifies herself, finally feeling worthy, deserving of being a Jedi herself.

So I got real busy with my personal life today, unfortunately. Tomorrow, I promise I will send Speaking of AI the lines. Here is the video I will be sending him just in case anyone here had anything to say about it.

I’m still worried about “You’ll die instead.” I don’t think we’ll be able to pull it off with the lip sync, and I think the subtextual difference from changing the line is negligible. I guess it couldn’t hurt to request it, but…

Anyway, thanks again for assembling all of this!

I kinda prefer “You’ll die instead.” How would Kylo killing Palpatine give him the “more”, exactly? Also, I think it sounds more… right than the “first”. God, Terrio’s dialogue-writing style…

It’s getting a bit late on my end, but I’ll send the lines and video to Speaking of AI tomorrow. If anyone has anymore lines they’d like to submit, let me know.

I’ve “re-written” the first scene with Kylo and Palps. Some of the new dialogue could be accomplished with AI.

(Yes, this also requires changing any mentions of the Final Order into the Sith Eternal.)

How exactly can this be accomplished? Both with Palpatine’s voice and having new dialogue for Kylo Ren where you see him speak the lines.

What exactly is wrong with AI-ing new voice clips for Palps?
