Q&A time

  1. Are you gonna use the deleted scenes of the crew in the falcon and the guys manning the turrets?

I can tell you that, unfortunately, that’s a no. Ady has said that footage just isn’t salvageable to an acceptable level.
However, Ady does have a crew filming new scenes in the California Red Woods to expand the Endor ground battle!

Actually that is some of the only footage for ROTJ that could now possibly be used, with a lot of work, especially now with Topaz upscaling AI being available along with better noise reduction software . The rest of the deleted scenes from Jedi go from low quality to less-than-laserdisc quality, so can’t be used. But most of the shots inside the falcon are rubbish anyway. Why the hell are they running through the corridors with guns during the space battle? Maybe one or two shots, if any at all, may be used

Does this mean that the deleted scene of Vader calling out to Luke while he’s building his new lightsaber could possibly be used?

I mentioned this earlier but the scenes between Han and Leia need to be more intimate.

Quick, someone find out if Carrie Fisher has ever done a sex scene in her career! 😉

You don’t need that. Cutting out the love triangle with Luke is a first step.

But, since there is no “love triangle” in the actual films, only in your mind, EU & deleted scenes, this isn’t even an issue.

Disagree. You can say it’s more accurate to say Han is being jealous than there being an actual love triangle, but to me that’s just potato, potato.

Besides, it’s just two scenes. DarthRush’s edit cut the first one (wiping from Luke leaving to the shuttle landing) and trimmed the second one (“He wasn’t, I can feel it.” cuts back and forth of confused Han and Leia turning to him “He’s my brother”). This should be a standard cut in every ROTJ edit.

Cutting the scene of Han and Leia embracing each other after what she had just been told is an intimate moment that’s necessary for the film. Cutting around the dialogue where Han believes there’s a love triangle between them with Luke is a tricky one.

I know, I was joking. It’s a reference to some of the conversation that was going on in the prequel redux thread recently. Someone was trying to add a sex scene between Anakin and Padme, using footage from another Natalie Portman movie.

Please no.

Cutting out the love triangle with Luke is a first step in making the scenes between Han and Leia being together more intimate. Another way might be to add dialogue between them using Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher sound alikes to fill in the blanks. But that’s just a thought.

This is a film I had seen a clip of on youtube.

A man, blonde haired woman, and a child are stranded or lost on a rural country highway. This scene takes place during daylight. That’s all I got. It was definitely a horror film and might have had something to do with satanists/devil worshipers. This film was released either in the late 60s or early 70s.

Oh and it was also an American film in color.

Sounds a lot like Manos: The Hands of Fate. It’s one of those famous “so bad it’s good” movies, which is probably why you saw a clip of it on YouTube.

Is there a blonde haired woman in it?

Thanks, did all the VHS releases from the 80’s and 90’0s contain this scene?

To clarify, that scene is from the theatrical cut, which has only ever been released on VHS (CIC) in PAL European countries and that was during the 80s/90s. The theatrical cut airs on UK TV fairly regularly.

Explorers UK VHS

Explorers UK VHS II

The current worldwide DVD release by Paramount uses the Dante re-edited “Special Home Version” that was released in the US on LD, VHS and Beta during the 80s.

See below for a thorough discussion of the differences. 😃

Regarding Blue Thunder, I looked into purchasing the US NTSC W/S LD a while back but the one I saw for sale on eBay appeared to have the theatrical running time. This is why I suspected that only the early pan and scan versions contain the additional scenes.

Another entry for your list is, The Charge of the Light Brigade (1968).

All current DVDs use the U.S. cut, which is shorter by 7 minutes. There was a 1992 UK VHS release that featured the original full length version. Whenever it airs on TV, I’ve recorded it, in the hope that the full length version might turn up but nothing so far.

OK, added.

Is the 1992 UK VHS of The Charge of the Light Brigade the longest version available?

Found an upgrade of the European version of Explorers (1985) on LD.

Never mind. The two scenes from the European version were included on the DVD release as bonus material.

Time

It’s ridiculous how movies like Tenet, Bill & Ted Face the Music, and Candyman are still coming out this year despite the covid while Halloween Kills got postponed to next year. If those movies aren’t getting postponed like that to next year then the studios must not have expected them to do that well to begin with.

Tenet was made for $200M and they think it’ll make it’s money back!? If they expect it to do that well during all this then the studio execs of Blumhouse could’ve released Halloween Kills this year.

Please take into account that the continuity of the PT/ST didn’t exist when these scenes were created.

In ROTJ after Luke turns himself in on Endor, Vader admires his lightsaber saying “I see you have constructed a new lightsaber. Your training is complete” This would mean that constructing a lightsaber requires use of the Force: they cannot be mass-produced, and such control of the Force is only achieved toward the end of a Jedi’s training. More importantly, it also shows how little Vader understands about becoming a Jedi; in ANH he says to Obi-Wan “I was but the learner now I am the master”. And in ROTJ on Dagoba, Yoda tells Luke that he’s learned all that he needs to know and Luke says “So I am a Jedi” then Yoda says “No, first you must face Vader”. So basically Luke has completed the classroom part of his Jedi training but becoming a Jedi requires an inward personal journey that’s emotional and spiritual. Vader doesn’t seem to understand this and may be under the impression that the classroom training is all that’s needed.

I’m also a fan of the enhanced ANH: Revisited Death Star plans. The red Death Star schematic as the image on the DVD disc is just perfect. My thought is have the plans somehow morph from the old '77 style to the AOTC style. Of course, the ideal solution is to just do a Rogue One: Revisited with ALL NEW DEATH STAR PLANS 😉.

I’m perfectly happy with him doing only an OT:R no matter how long it takes.

How would one accomplish this?

Cutting the love triangle shots like at the ending scene when he says “When he comes I won’t get in the way” for example. Remmove the dialogue sequences relating to it.
