The "Name that Movie/TV Show I Can't Name" Thread
Time

OK,

The first is a Japanese movie poster showing a cityscape of buildings at night where a woman on an apartment building terrace is being struck by lightning from the sky while being surrounded by a white aura/glow with her arms spread out (and wearing a white gown I believe) and based on a description, she has psychic powers.

The second is a VHS cover from way back during the video store days. It was a werewolf horror film where on the front cover it showed wolf eye’s on a nighttime cityscape background and at the bottom showed a fence with bloody scratch marks on it. The back of the cover showed an image of a close up of a quadruped wolf in a sitting down position in an alleyway bathed in red and blue police siren lights. It might’ve been from the late 80’s or early 90’s.

This was a black and white film I caught a portion of on TV not too long ago but never got the name of it. A woman is about to be married in a church or in a courthouse and then stabs the groom with a knife at the altar and then drives away (in the rain I think) till she comes to a house in the country with other occupants.

A kind Twitter-er has made some before-and-afters for the Battle of Hoth:

Nice work. This person’s next attempt should be at doing a side by side video comparison.

I’m walking down a city street alone at night and then I’m suddenly surrounded by people with body parts in their mouths. I then realize that those are my body parts their eating, but it’s too late because I’m already gone.

Please tell me you quoted this line in your dream.

No.

What the dream meant to me is that I have a deep rooted fear of losing myself.

There really should be a separate thread for this, but what would anyone recommend for someone watched these film’s

  • Carnival of Souls (1962)
  • Straight Jacket (1964)
  • Spider Baby (1967)

I haven’t seen Spider Baby, so I can’t help you there.

You really should. It’s great.

Favorite part was in the basement when she says “Uncle Ned!” and you then see three of the relatives.

Childhood Misconceptions (aka The Trap Thread, but misconceptions still welcome)
Time

When I was younger, watching ANH for the first time, I really believed that Luke and Leia were going to end up together at the end of the film. Then in the TESB, Han suddenly became the third wheel and saw that because Luke was out of the picture on the MF, Leia eventually succumbed to his advances. In the scene when Luke is calling out to Leia, I took it that the reason she was able to hear him was because, deep down, it was Luke who she truly loved, not Han. Then it was revealed that they were brother and sister, which changed everything.

I haven’t seen Spider Baby, so I can’t help you there. For stuff in similar molds to Carnival of Souls/Strait-Jacket, though:

  • The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920)
  • Dementia (1955)*
  • Dementia 13 (1963)
  • The House That Screamed (1969)
  • The Iron Rose (1973)
  • Let’s Scare Jessica to Death (1971)
  • Repulsion (1965)
  • Session 9 (2001)
  • Vampyr (1932)

*I suggest you seek out the original version. The version with the Daughter of Horror title comes with expository narration which detracts from the experience.

I’ve already seen The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, Dementia 13, and Let’s Scare Jessica to Death, but I will be checking out the other one’s you recommended. Thanks.

Because this edit was too good to be true for me I just have to ask this question: Was there anything from TESB that didn’t get fixed?

Leia kissing Luke 😄

Seriously, while a large majority of known issues have been fixed there are a few that are still in the film. Some that you’ll have to live with, and a few that could possibly be fixed…

For the record, I wouldn’t “fix” the kiss, it’s as much a part of the movie as “No, I am your father” is. I don’t think there’s a single big thing or nitpick he has missed. Though he has introduced a couple new small issues (visible layer masks, typos), which I trust will be resolved when the BD-25 version comes out.

I’m also not a fan of the new title crawl, but that’s just me. The font looks a bit too thin, and it doesn’t look right to me without gate weave.

I never meant the kiss between Luke and Leia, but there is the kiss between Han and Leia on the MF before C-3PO interrupts them where in one shot she has her hands down while kissing him then in the next shot her arms are around him.

Adywan, You not only have an intelligent eye for color corrections etc, but you also have a great passion for SW to be able to go through the things involved in making these projects possible that I have nothing but respect for. Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to make this edit possible and for sharing it with everyone.
