Doctor Who
Time

After four years, I decided to watch Doctor Who again for the Christmas special just to see the regeneration at the end letting the whole “breaking the 12 regeneration limit rule” slide and giving it a chance to see if the show had gotten better seeing the First Doctor would be in it and had considered watching Peter Capaldi’s run as the Doctor now that it was over.

It only reaffirmed my belief that Stephen Moffat had ruined the show and that a majority of it, including Jodie Whittaker’s casting (I’m sincerely not trying to come off as misogynist), was done by the BBC for their own selfish agenda’s.

Episode IX: The Rise Of Skywalker - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *

Anyone think the Falcon should be destroyed in IX? I was kinda bummed even back in TFA that it lasted movie. And then it came back into action in TLJ. My reasoning is because it’s making excessive appearances and if it isn’t gone in IX, that leaves room for it to appear in yet another trilogy after IX… Plus, not gonna lie, I’m going to tear up seeing it blown up or something in the next movie.

I don’t want to think of another trilogy afterwards right now.

The Mystery Box has been opened- AND IT’S EMPTY!

I really liked this movie despite it having some flaws. The stuff with Luke and Rey is fantastic- Yoda was straight out of ESB, beautiful! However the B and C stories were meh at best.

Great Things:
Luke and Rey, Kylo and Rey mind connection, Snoke’s Death, Rey and Kylo’s short lived team up, YODA, Yoda, and Yoda, Andy Serkis acting like he was given some direction this time, Kylo Ren’s origin story having three different tellings, Rey’s parents being junkies, light speed kamikaze, the infinity mirror scene, Luke facing the entire FO fleet on his own, the force projection fake-out, and the return to the binary suns.

Not-so Great Things:
Finn and Rose’s story was a bore, Canto Bight was unimaginative, Poe learning the same lesson 100 times about being trigger-happy, SuperLeia, BB-8 commandeering an AT-ST, the slowest chase of all time between the Supremacy and the Resistance Ship, deactivating another thing on a ship because Star Wars, Phasma going out like a chump AGAIN, the soundtrack sounded like a William’s imitation (sorry, John), DJs awful stutter, the space battles felt like semi-video-gamey-cutscenes.

Things I need to think about:
Luke dying because he was tired.

I don’t think he died because he was tired. I think he died because he was finally at peace with himself. He fulfilled his destiny and then he willingly descended into the force. That’s just how I took it. I’m sure it’s open for interpretation until we hear Johnson give his view of it.

Is there a chance Mark Hamill could still appear in IX in a cameo as a Force ghost? Possibly aiding Rey?

There was a moment while watching Kylo and Rey’s scenes together where I believed they were going to become the next star-crossed lovers like Han & Leia and Anakin & Padme. Fortunately, it was nothing like that, and I could continue to enjoy the movie without walking out in disgust.

FTFM

I wouldn’t have walked out in disgust. I would have just seen it as another cliche repeated in the ST.

Episode VIII : The Last Jedi - Discussion * NON SPOILER * THREAD
Time

A simple yes or no to this as this is a NON SPOILER thread.

I’ve willingly chosen not to know anything about the film from the trailers, ads, clips, articles etc. since it was first announced and will be spoil-free about the plot until tomorrow.

Is TLJ worth it to be seen in IMAX(3D)?

When Luke is hiding from Vader while he’s speaking to him saying “If you will not turn to the dark side…”, he’s holding another unlit lightsaber in his left hand (supposedly meant to be Luke’s that he threw at Vader to show that he won’t fight him).

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

I know adywan is not taking suggestions for ANH:RHD, but I have seen certain people asking if he’ll be redoing certain improvements from the previous ANH:R and has said there will be for some of them. If so, there’s a few improvements I’d like to ask about…

Sorry about this but I just now read the previous posts.

I understand what’s being said about the editor with the 180 degrees rule and that they were flipped for a reason, its just really jarring to me that Chewbacca would have his bandolier worn in that position when no other depiction of him (of any kind) has him wearing it that way.

Unless the birthmark is pretty prominent throughout the Jabba’s Palace sequences, seems like erasing it in that one shot is the best solution.

It appears three more times.

Throughout the OT Chewbacca always wears his bandolier belt from the left shoulder to the right hip but in this one scene on the skiff on their way to the sarlacc pit, Chewbacca has it worn in reverse from the right shoulder to the left hip until they arrive at the sarlacc pit and its back to its original position indicating that during this scene these shots were flipped.

NOTE: If the shots in the above scene were flipped then there is a possibility that the theatrical shot below might have been flipped also.

In the shot when Jabba pulls Leia toward him saying “Soon you will learn to appreciate me”, Jabba’s drink is on the other hand and Carrie Fisher’s birthmark which normally is on the right side of her back is shown on the left showing that this shot was flipped.

When Luke is on the plank he nods to Lando who’s standing to his right then when Jabba says “Put him in”, in the shot of the Weequay forcing him off the plank Lando is suddenly shown on the left side of the skiff. Then when Luke jumps in the air, reclaims his lightsaber, and fights the guards, Lando is shown on the right side of the skiff again showing that the shot of the Weequay forcing Luke off the plank was flipped.

When Boba Fett lands on the skiff and aims his blaster at Luke, the muzzle starts to explode one frame before Luke even strikes it with his lightsaber.

When Luke goes to jump from one skiff to another, you can see that his lightsaber is no longer glowing but is holding a stunt prop instead.

This one has always bugged me whenever I watched the film.
When Vader is lifting the Emperor right when he’s going to throw him into the shaft, you can clearly see that its a fake dummy being thrown.

I don’t have a picture of this right now, but after Vader throws the emperor down the shaft, it’s pretty obvious his hand is underneath his too-long sleeve. You can even see his wrist is bent. It’s a small thing, but one that bugs me every time I watch the movie.

You can even notice Vader’s too-long sleeve with the wrist bent afterwards in the shot when Luke pulls him away from the shaft.

When Vader’s shuttle is landing in the second DS there is a scaffolding struture on the left side of it, but then in the next close up shot of the shuttle it’s no longer there.

When R2 plays Luke’s holographic message to Jabba, Luke’s lightsaber is shown clipped to the right side of his body. Then before the message ends a brief shot of Luke’s hologram is visible showing his lightsaber clipped to the left side of his body indicating that in all previous shots of Luke before the one with the message ending, Luke’s holographic image was flipped.

NOTE: In the film Luke keeps his lightsaber clipped to the left side of his body (this is also true in TESB).

During R2’s holographic message of Luke to Jabba in the shot showing Jabba and Bib Fortuna then panning down to Salacious Crumb, the smoke coming from Jabba’s pipe is going inward and the bubbles in the bong are flowing downward indicating that this shot was played in reverse.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JFPHNLjCvI&t=1m0s

In the scene when “Leia” pulls out the thermal detonator in front of Jabba, the shots showing Boba Fett during this are flipped due to his helmets antenna being on the left side.

On Jabba’s sail barge when Luke is shot on his mechanical hand by a blaster the injury from the shot is already visible on his hand before he’s even shot and when he is shot he’s actually shot on the sleeve.

During the Rancor sequence in a full frontal shot of it while Luke is trying to find a way out (or any other full frontal shot of it) there’s supposedly a puppeteer’s blue clothed arm visibly operating the Rancor on its left side (right side of the screen for the viewer). While the Rancor’s surroundings are dark, I either need my eyes checked or it just isn’t there .

If anyone else here could try and locate this error and point out where this is visible, would be greatly appreciated.

These suggestions are going nowhere. I don’t know how many of these shots will be kept in the edit, but maybe these suggestions might help

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A8dJlP_yFTI

Also (I didn’t see this listed anywhere or if it was already discussed) the scene when Obi-wan tells Luke about his sister, I would suggest if his force ghost be enhanced with the force glow like in TESB:R and maybe at the ending too with Obi-wan, Anakin (Sebastian Shaw), and Yoda.

The steel bar here is already pre-cut before Luke even strikes it.

In the scene when Jabba eats the frog-like creature from the water bowl and then “Leia” enters with Chewbacca chained up “to collect the bounty on him”, in the next shot showing Jabba the frog-like creature is shown in the water bowl again.

In this shot the matte painting here that’s meant to be Lando hanging from the skiff is poorly drawn.

When Luke removes Vader’s helmet revealing Anakin’s face the breathing apparatus partially covers his mouth and chin completely. Then when Luke lowers his head after his father dies, Anakin’s mouth and chin are clearly visible with the breathing apparatus gone.

Good God, where is Adywan to rein this all in already?

It’s because there are no serious suggestions going on for him to rein in.

It’s just endless muppet jokes and debates on whether the stormtroopers should be in a different color or not.
