What a big powerful argument that was. Not!
it may not have been big or powerful, but it was correct.
Originally posted by: lordjediNo, it's called get control of the situation first. If someone is fighting you, you get control of them first, then you frisk them. How do you know if they had a knife or not? They don't need to have a gun to be a threat.
it was an out of control situation because the cops overreacted. There has to be a better way of controlling the situation than strangling two kids.
Originally posted by: lordjediGET YOUR FUCKING EYES CHECKED THEN ASSHOLE!!!! My eyes saw a cop grab two kids by their back and neck in order to get control of the situation. then I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

Rodney King? yep the one who the cops beat the shit out of.
The one that was awarded $3.8 million dollars for said beating. yep, after the cops were acquitted.
Originally posted by: lordjediIt is an excuse when you feel like your life could be in danger. Have you ever talked to a cop that's been faced with someone coming at them that is clearly high on PCP? It takes billy clubs and several tasers to take the person down, so it's a very scary situation. the point is, after it was clear he was "down", they continued to hit him. that is excessive force.

Criminal records do mean a lot. Hence why we now have a 3 strikes law in California. Criminal records go to your history and show what you're likely to do. true but is still no excuse for continuing to beat him after you have him under control.

That showed that he was trying to get away. Add that to his criminal record and they didn't know what to expect.
same as above

the cops got acquitted in the criminal case.
I don't really give a fuck you little prick. He got $3.8 million dollars and then proceeded to break the law some more at a later date. He even tried to sue again at that later date except the cops were a little smarter and didn't beat him up.
well I do give a fuck. it goes to my original point for bringing Rodney Kind up: that even when you are right, the court could still rule against you.

true. but in the Rodney King case, I believe that "a lot of America" was right.

maybe or maybe it is how they truly felt.
Originally posted by: lordjedi"No justice, no peace"? What the hell is that? A white man gets beaten and nobody cares. A black man gets beaten and people riot in the streets destroying their neighborhood. Who's in the right on that one smartass?
this happened because there has been a long history of black men getting beaten up and lynched and etc and nobody caring. When the Rodney King ruling came down, people just got fed up. It is of course no excuse for beating up and innocent white man. Neither are right.
Originally posted by: lordjediWatch the fucking tape clearly jackass. It's quite obvious that he attempted to get up several times only to be hit and told "Stay down!" each and every time!
I guess we are watching different tapes. Because I saw him just laying there while they beat him.
none of this really as any bearing on my point that is is possible to lose your case in court even when you are in the right.
