Surround sound just makes things so damn difficult. What do you do?
Time

Trying to do a re-edit of Superman II and if i was sticking to stereo then perhaps Id slog it out because with Stereo you can cut out sounds, you can rip a music soundtrack to fade in here and there. Generally it seems hasstle free.

Contrast that to 5.1! I have two scenes and thankfully both of them have 5.1 but I really need to use some audio off the soundtrack. Fine, no problem. This is easy enough to do but I wouldnt have a clue how to do this in 5.1. Would I need to have 5 seperate wavs and fade them all in and out at the same time? Seems like far too much fiddly effort when my main goal is to do with the visuals.

Please tell me there's another way. Or do people generally do Stereo versions when they'r doing extensive changes?

A Blast From (My) Past: "A Watto Fan Site"
Time

Anchorhead said:

I miss those older sites like that.  They were content driven instead of attack on the senses, scripts and pop-ups, short attention span driven.

originaltrilogy.com is still like that, which makes it much more pleasurable to read and interact with.

Well done, Double 0.

Definetly! Back then it seemed like anyone could have a website and it seemed that most people did. Most wernt professional and didnt look fancy but they had something that most dont have now - heart.

Sadly when the 'professionals' took over with the sole intention of making money our world wide web changed forever.

Appeal - Superman II - No Camp Cut
Time

Began work on a SII re-edit of my own the other week and ran into a few problems, so for inspiration I'v come across TylerDurden389's edit and all I can say is...wow.

This is absolutely unbelievable and one of the few cuts which Id gladly use to replace my theatrical. To use the Daily Planet scene about the bomb in Paris just before the end is genius and will make you want to watch the film right away....

If only I could find it! This is an urgent appeal...does anyone have this version at all? The link on FanEdit is broken and I believe it was on Pirate Bay but was subsequently taken off.

Interesting to note that his was version 3 but he proclaimed he had a version 5 in the works - unsure if this was ever uploaded to the net.

Audio problem
Time

Currently in the early stages of my first ever edit! Really chuffed to finally doing a version of Superman II now that Premier supports .m2v files and also 5.1 sound :)

But Im having a few problems and was wondering if anyone could help?

When I import the audio and the video, for some reason it's missing off 1 frame of audio for some bizarre reason.

Can anyone fathom out how to get around this do you reckon? Is it because I havent converted the audio into wav files?

Really stupid question but i cant figure it out
Time

But when the three WAV files have been created, would it automatically know the 'in' and 'out' of my video clip so the corrosponding audio would link up?

If not then the way Im thinking of doing it is to keep the one AC3 file and drag and drop it over along with the video. Link the two items and then edit from the timeline (as opposed to the bit before), then once the edit has been done visually, get to work on the soundtrack using the method you decribe.

Really appreciate the reply and may have your opinion on this? Would it be better to do the audio edits after I'v locked in the edit visually? Means I only have 1 audio file to play with then as opposed to 6...but when it's locked in visually then i can get to work on extracting the wavs.

How do I extract the AC3 file into 6 wavs using Premier?

Really stupid question but i cant figure it out
Time

Now I'v got a wife and kids, life is really hectic and im sleepy all the time...I figured I'd now start my long held desire to re-edit Superman II!!!

What can I say, I want a project...something to keep my busy (busier!) and given time has passed a fair bit since I last edited anything, the programs used to do so have improved (which is nice)

However im having problems in relation t 5.1 and the AC3 Channel I have. Basically I have created and fixed my M2V files and I have the relevant AC3 file (both the 2 channel and the 6 channel). But im now in a quandry...

In Premier Pro I can actually edit using the M2V file and this is great, but I cant 'connect' the AC3 file. Meaning I could edit the M2V file to my hearts content but I wouldnt have any audio over the top.

Perhaps I could put the entire row of footage and the relevant AC3 file and drag over into the time line and then edit from there (as opposed to highlighting the clips i want before i drag it over whcih is how id normally do it). I have done this and been successful in doing so because I had the ability to link up the footage but Id prefer to do this before putting on the time line. Also eventually Im going to want to know how to edit these individual channels because maybe id want to remove something here or something there. Add in a sound effect etc.

Another alternative is to link up the M2V and the AC3 within TMPGENC using HuffyUV (if anyone knows of a better codec now then please let me know) and thus creating an avi with the audio over the top...but how would I then be able to have a 5.1 soundtrack?

If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.

Basically I wish to have a 5.1 soundtrack but need to know how to 'link' up the audio and the video and then be able to get access to the individual channels.

I do plan to edit irrespective of the audio and will worry about this later, but id rather have a basis as opposed to having to link everything up manually.

JDownloader help
Time

Unsure if this is the best place to post this but hopefully someone can help. Been a long time visitory but only (until recently), believed you could only get re-edits from Usenet or similar places but recently I have discovered the joys of jdownloader.

However I have a problem! I was downloaded Darth Editous v3 of ANH and within JDownloader it has 10 quadrants which encompass the total 4.25GB. Now the first Quadrant has completed downloading...which is highlighted in green. However its not downloading anymore. I think its a bit suss that 1 quadrant has downloaded but not the others....do I need to do something to restart it again??

Any help would be most helpful :)

Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)
Time

Been a member of this forum for ages now but changed ISP and cant remember password and when i do request reminded, it sends it to my old email. doh!

The good news it that my new ISP supports newsgroups but i havent the foggiest how to use it. When I log in I can only see 'Star Wars Rarities Volume 1' (300 messages) but cant see any other files whatsoever...does that mean they'r not there?

If anyone could answer it would be much appreciated as I'm about to become a father and want my children, when they'r old enough, to see the original theatrical versions of star wars.
