and i thought blonds were stupid (edit: re Troops fan film; and it is spelled 'blonde', stupid...)
Time
I saw TROOPS on the Sci-fi Channel Star Wars fan film awards hosted by Kevin Smith a year or so ago. It was funny as hell. Unfortunately it didn't win best film award. What did Lucas choose instead? A stupid animation with a young girl dancing around a christmas tree that didn't even have anything to do with Star Wars except a word change in the song and Boba Fett.

It was not very popular in germany, but two kids in the neighbourhood had one and I really loved the games on there, greatest console ever. All the games look almost as good as the arcade machines of that time.

I might buy one of Intellevision's emulation packages someday, though. intellivisionlives.com

ColecoVision was probably the best arcade-looking game system of that time.

Which part do you need help with Sean? If you're having trouble getting the games to work: here's my solution in a nutshell. 1.) download the latest version of MAME32 Plus!; it has a cool and easy interface. 2.) download the bios roms and put them in the "roms" folder in your mame32 plus! folder. 3.) download a couple games and also put them in the roms folder. 4.) open up the Mame32 Plus! interface and double click on which game you have installed and it should work. Also remember not to change the names of the zip files of the roms. And remember to NOT unzip the files; just put the whole zip file in the roms folder.

I had trouble getting Mame to work at first too, but when I finally figured it out it was well worth the trouble!

I used to have Stella and lots of other emulators and games, but I had to wipe them when my pc screwed up. Now I just use Mame. I also suggest ZSNES for a super nintendo emulator, it has a nice and easy-to-use interface. I recommend downloading the Super Star Wars games for that.

Your feeble attempts to extend Lucas' fictional reality into these message boards are bound to fail. Take off that brainslug and start thinking for yourself.

Btw, welcome to these boards. Welcome - to the real world.

If you threatened me nine years ago, I wouldn't be surprised at all when you tried to do it. And I would be prepared for it.

I wouldn't bitch about it.

However, even after I prepared for it, if you still managed to break my leg, I'm still going to be just as angry and in the same amount of pain. Point is wheither they know it ahead of time or not it is still just as wrong to break my leg.

I did like Lucas until he cracked. I think more than 200,000 copies would get sold. But I say it again why not combine the ruined edition with the orginal. They did it with T2, they can do it with The OT. Either way, he'd sell enough copies.

The OT should not be changed to fit with PT, the PT should have been made to fit with the OT. I know the PT takes place first, but the OT was MADE first. What next? are they going to make altercations to the orginal Star Trek, just to make it fit better with Enterprise? Hey I know!, how bout they get Robert De Niro to dress up like the Older Vito Corleone of Godfather Part I, get him to perform all of Brando's lines from Part I and then use CGI to replace Brando with him? that would make GodFather Part I fit better with Godfather Part II wouldn't it?

The "Legend" special edition dvd came with both the theatrical cut and the directors cut on two seperate discs, and both of them had only minimal differences between each other. Both of these for the price of one movie. Now why cant Lucas do the same thing with Star Wars? I'll tell everyone why! Because he's an overweight, self-loathing, compulsive perfectionist, with some greed here and there.

"I'll never buy the Ses on VHS, DVD, etc". Whatever. You already own them on VHS, because you bought them back in '97 when they came out.

But the point I need to make is, how the hell can anyone act surpised that Lucas isn't going to put the rough-cut out on DVD? He said nine years ago, NINE YEARS AGO thar the "95 release was the LAST TIME the original versions would ever be released on video. So if you where actually paying any attention you'd known that he wans't going to release the rough-cut of the movies on DVD, or VHS, or lazer disc for the last NINE FREAKIN' YEARS.

How the hell is it Lucas' fault you guys didn't pay attention when he said NINE YEARS ago that he would never release the movies in their original version ever again? I bet you giys yell at the teacher when he gives you an "F" for not paying attention in class.

This wasn't a surprise to anyone who actually looked at the back of the box of the 1995 "One Last Time" edition of the trilogy. So other than SEs haters, the very fanboys that are a pox on all Star Wars fans, the very idiots that make the rest of us look like anal-retentive losers, why would any sane, rational, observant person be surprised?

Or did I just answere my own question?

I wasn't surprised, but I must admit, when I saw the interview on the 95 OT release, I didn't understand what the hell Lucas was talking about. How could some one make such a bold statement about the future when he had no idea what the future would bring? Who could've predicted that in 1995 dvds would be invented a few years later? That's enough reason to re-release the OT, just for the sake of it being on dvd. Its so arrogant for one man like Lucas to express so much control over something that had so much influence on the childhoods of millions of kids all over the world, and then finally deprive them of that childhood experience by sending it into permanent retirement. That's like Disney saying "we're not going to release Snow White anymore because we've come to the conclusion that its outdated and boring; from now on its going to gather dust in our vault

You weren't even alive when the OT came out! By the time you were old enough to think for yourself the SE were out and the OT was out of print, so how the hell can you say you grew up with the OT? And how can you say "grown up"? You still are growing up!

The reason why the majority public likes the SE's better than the original trilogy is because they are just lemmings who accept everything thrown at them. And since the SE was the last version that was released that's the version they remember the most, and thus that is the version they will accept. You must also take into consideration that the "Majority" are not even die hard fans who grew up with the star wars movies. And young kids like Jimbo will accept the SE over the OT because that's the version they grew up with. If Dimbo had grown up with the OT he would have a completely different outlook. He's also in that stage in his life where he thinks that anyone over 18 is nothing but an old fogey, and he will view old movies the same way; but when he gets older he'll come to appreciate classic movies and original versions for what they are.

It doesnt matter how much better the special effects are made, people will accept anything thrown at them. Lucas could re-release the original trilogy tomorrow, and it would make millions, and everyone would accept that version over the previous one--the SE. Then when he re-released the SE after that one, the SE would become popular again. If Peter Jackson re-released the LOTR trilogy 20 years from now with added effects, the diehard fans who grew up with the movies would complain, but the new generations (like dimbo and friends) would accept the recent version over the latter one.

Such is life
