No green Lightsabers until Return of the Jedi. All PT Jedi have blue lightsabers.
I’ve always loved this idea, but keep in mind how difficult it’s gonna be to get the color exact. I tried to do this in my fanedits but the former-greens never looked close enough.
Only minor stuff. Luke sits down weird one time on Dagobah. When Leia kisses Luke on the Falcon when leaving Bespin, there’s no sound effect.
I never liked how in Vader and Luke’s conversation (through the force) there’s like a two-frame fade.
“He’s all yours, Bounty Hunter” and “Now, release your anger” feel weird, and I’d cut out “Bounty Hunter” and “Now”.
If you care about trilogy continuity, then you could edit out Yoda being Obi-Wan’s master.
For actually major stuff, I really don’t like the other, and I don’t like either Emperor scene. The Emperor always looks bad in either one, and while Adywan’s is an improvement, it’s not groundbreaking. It doesn’t add anything, anyway.

Starting editing tonight. This is a pretty simple edit, so I expect myself to be done in a few days, but I don’t wanna be too certain in case it’s not done by then.

There are a few times where the audio… I guess the best way to describe is that it clips. They’re all around cuts, so my guess is that you just cut the video and left it like that. You should have the audio on each side of the cut fade into one another, it solves that problem.
Like other people have said, some added dialogue doesn’t fit right. I think it’s more that they’re running over existing dialogue, partially. Some lines don’t have this problem but still feel out of place, but idk why for them.
I love the recoloring. Especially the lightsabers. Finally we have air superiority blue and actually real red!
Not a fan of ADigitalMan’s (I think it was them) crawl maker. I prefer JackPumpkinHead’s. Although this isn’t a huge deal.
Also personally, I’d add more grain.
I’d make Dooku lose his head sooner, there’s a bit of pause between when Anakin catches the lightsaber and when he’s beheaded.

“No loose wire jokes” is in the theatrical movie, and I believe “I was about to say that” was too.
It looked like they were straight up, literally ripped from your channel, but just in case they weren’t, do you think they are?

Around 1h49m55s (Harmy), there’s a shot of a TIE Fighter crashing into a Star Destroyer, and every time I watch RotJ, I expect it to hit the Star Destroyer and leave a TIE-Fighter-shaped mark on it. But it blows up before it hits it. Can this be done?

How much would that cost to get a VCR, a few tapes, and something to put the data onto a computer? It’s been a while since I’ve bought any of that.
What’s weird is that despite all of the constant bashing of the PT I always see on sites like this, the critical ratings towards them have actually been mostly mixed to positive. If they really were that bad, then they wouldn’t have a 6.5, 6.6 and 7.6 rating on IMDb.

By putting Ben’s Hut before the dinner scene, I assume you mean that R2 doesn’t run off, right? I like it. Edit: It didn’t turn out so well, having Luke get called off, then wipe to Ben’s hut feels really awkward.
Han & Greedo was something I was on the fence for, but I think I’ll go with it.
Alderaan Destruction scene being removed isn’t something I thought of, and I like the idea. I feel like it might be kind of a surprise, which I prefer to dramatic irony. The only problem is that Tarkin says “It’s time we demonstrate the full power of this Battle Station”, which I can’t really figure out how to edit around while still leaving the scene in, which you’d need so Alderaan doesn’t come out of nowhere. Will it still work? Edit: Jumping from the hyperspace scene to the chess scene doesn’t look so good.
Trash Compactor is also a good idea. Will be done.
The “You’re braver than I thought” to fight cut was already in there, too.

I’m also cutting out the Asteroid field like you said, which has caused a ripple effect and a lot of other scenes are going with it. Chapter 2’s starting the be structurally different to Empire, too.
I don’t wanna cut out the throwing things bit, I’ve always liked it and it’s less than a minute long, so cutting it won’t do much good.
The “there is another line” and everything on Dagobah in RotJ were both already cut. Dagobah scenes from RotJ are covered in the narration before Chapter 3.
Leia’s scene with Wicket and C3PO’s bedtime story have been cut already, too.
With all of this, it’s down to ~4h30, and I haven’t even gotten to trimming the Battles of Endor and Hoth.
That would be even more difficult. I’m fine with what I’ve come up with now.
Question for you guys: What scenes could go? A reasonably sized 3-in-1 OT movie is a lot harder than a PT one, because most scenes in the OT do something, most scenes in the PT don’t. I’m admittedly having trouble coming up with what scenes to cut.
If anyone can make this fanedit here, they’re a god and I’d start worshipping them.
The movie itself works surprisingly well. I’m impressed.
I like the higher contrast, but I think it may be a little too high. Especially in lighter shots, it looks really overexposed. I’d tone it down a little. However, the reds look really beautiful. I love Palpatine’s lightsaber. I also love how the blue lightsabers look like blue lightsabers, and not the shitty indigo lightsabers normally in the movie.
I’d do more wipes, less straight cuts, especially in places like between Anakin and Padme at their pad and Obi-Wan leaving for Utapau.
Technically, the video seems kinda laggy. I paused the movie and saw what looks like the blur the GOUT has. That usually happens by artificially changing the framerate, but the framerate was never changed. The file’s huge (for an hour long movie, but some shots look a little compressed.
Additionally, if you’re gonna make a second version, I recommend you render it as 1920x816, not 1920x1080. There’s black bars on the side that don’t do anything but take up data and space (and I can’t crop it because VLC is being a jerk tonight).
Still, though, it’s really well-edited, and the scenes used are really well thought out. Good work!

I originally did that, with Lando and company keeping the fleet away, and Red & Gold groups blowing up the Death Star, but I wasn’t a fan of Red Leader destroying the Death Star, and having three impersonal TIE Fighters attacking them from nowhere was a little weird.
I could still probably put Tarkin clips from the Battle of Yavin in the Battle of Endor. Haven’t tried yet, though.
Here’s an idea: What if Leia transmits the plans from R2 to the Rebel base right after they escape the Death Star? Then as the Falcon desperately tries to hold off the sentry ships, we cut to Yavin 4 where they are briefing the pilots on the Death Star’s weakness. The ships arrive at the Death Star as the Falcon is still holding off the TIE’s, and Red leader immediately heads to the trench while Vader flies out to intercept. Red leader manages to hit the target and it destroys most of the station, killing Tarkin.
In this version of events, Leia never suspects that the Empire is tracking the Falcon. Our heroes then go to Yavin 4 for the medal ceremony, which is what leads the Empire to drive them out.
I like the idea of Red/Gold Leader trying a lone-wolf mission, and putting the failed attack between Chapters 1 and 2 also explains why there’s no real Death Star oriented stuff in Chapter 2, the Rebels are weakened, and the Empire is working on repairing the Death Star, especially the laser. But unfortunately the only real place I see that fitting is in a narration, putting it an actual scene messes feels like it would mess with the pacing.
Although, killing off Tarkin in a narration would feel like a cop-out. I might wanna have Tarkin killed in this attack, because him not being in Chapters 2-4 is a little problematic, but maybe I can just pepper Tarkin scenes in 2 & 4.
For the Luke vs Vader scene, after Vader says ‘It is the only way you can save your friends. Your feelings for them are strong. Especially for…’ Cut to Leia being injured and troops coming up behind Han. Luke snaps.
I like it, and it also lets me not use the “The Princess” sound bite. I’ll try it out.
Maybe this is just me being desperate, but what if I explain in a narration that there was an unsuccessful Rebel attack on the Death Star. That way I can keep the Death Star damaged, and maybe in this attack, the Emperor might trick them into thinking the laser was damaged and not operational, so that this would be their only chance to attack it. Also, that would mean the Emperor wouldn’t there for shits and giggles, he’s there to boost morale while the Death Star is repaired.
Cut out “so, you have a twin sister”, replace “your sister” with “the princess”.
It doesn’t sound perfect (last time I did it) but I think it’s better than Luke and Leia being siblings.
Either Lando or Gold Leader. Depends on how much of the Battle of Yavin I’m gonna reincorporate. I was originally leaning towards Gold Leader but now I’m almost certainly gonna do Lando.
