Info: The "Lost Cut" Of ANH
Time

Apparently, there were a limited number of test screenings of the first film before it was released that were based on a workprint.  I figure it's possible that a few people may have seen some of the deleted scenes this way.  According to various reports, though, the workprint that was shown for the test screenings had almost no music and most of the ADR work was missing, including Darth Vader and Chewbacca's voices... so the audience heard David Prowse and Peter Mayhew performing the lines instead.

I guess a simulated workprint could be recreated using the deleted scenes on the blu-ray set but it would be missing most of the pre-foley and pre-ADR sound.

Also, what "She's Beautiful" line are you talking about, poita.

Matching VHS audio to a DVD video
Time

I have the audio to an English-language movie that was only released on VHS in English but has a Japanese DVD release with only the Japanese dub.  I want to match up the VHS audio to the DVD video but it's not a simple matter of making sure the length matches.  Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to adjust the audio so that it syncs up with the video?

If there are any other edits, they aren't obvious or documented anywhere.  I went through the French version looking for things that could, reasonably or unreasonably, be edited and couldn't find any other differences but those single-frame gags can be sneaky.  Still, all three of these changes have been previously proven and documented.  The rumored bathroom wall phone number has never been actually been proven and even if it was in the theatrical release, it was removed prior to the version used for the French HDTV transfer.

That's the problem I have with most file sharing sites right now.  So many of them are flaky or slow.  Rapidshare wouldn't even let me upload the file until I created an account.

I can't seem to get Mediafire to work so I'll try sendspace and depositfiles.

It looks like the DVD may have left one frame unblurred.  I don't have the DVD version of the short to verify this, though.

I've got all the Jessica Rabbit frames restored.  Now I just need to find time to insert the restored frames back into the film and render it out.  I'll post screenshots when I get a chance to upload them.

The Rigid Tools poster wouldn't be too hard to reinsert into the original since it's only a few frames in the animation and it's part of the background painting rather than some sort of cell or animation element.  Is the image above the best that's out there, or are there any higher resolution frame captures?

I'm about halfway done restoring the altered frames from the Jessica Rabbit panty shot scene.  The latest edit to the scene actually removes the panties from her butt and makes it look even more like she's not wearing panties than the original did.  Seriously, Disney?

I already checked for the phone number in the French version and saw no sign of it.  That one was always dubious at best, though.

The running commentary actually mentioned the Betty Boop nipple flash and pointed out that it was a reference to the fact that it was taken from the original BB shorts where the animators regularly hid naughty single-frame gags like that.

As far as the altered frames, I'm using the blu-ray and French versions and reconstructing the single frames in Photoshop to replace the altered frames.

I'm about halfway through the baby herman goosing segment and I have the Betty Boop frame done.
