Help: looking for... Star Wars OT Preservation - finding the right one. (noob)
Time

There’s a bunch of different versions.
Main one on the site is probably Harmy’s Despecialized (SW 2.7 (with help from towne32), ESB 2.0, ROTJ 2.5). There’s threads detailing those.
Those 3 have been made into nice Blurays by NJVC, there’s a big thread on that. And a thread about distributing those from solkap.

Then there’s the new 4k77 for SW. There’s a thread on that.
There’s the Silver Screen Edition of SW. And a Grindhouse of ESB (and the Dreamastered colour correction of that). And I think a ROTJ Grindhouse as well?
Thread’s on all of those too, I imagine.

Probably some other versions I’ve missed.

So maybe a first step is to go look at all those threads and decide which version(s) you want?

Thinking outside the box here.
This might be a bad idea.

How about…hrm, not flooding, but putting on a few Ebay ads ourselves. Title it (them?) something along the lines of “Absolutely Free Despecialized Star Wars Set” and in the description explain how to get it free.
That way if anyone ever goes to Ebay to search for where they can buy a set, this result shows up.

Not sure how Ebay works, but it would be nice if we could make the auction without accepting any money. But chances are we’d have to make it with at least a $0.01 ‘buy it now’ option??

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Thanks dahmage. I guess there’s no official checksum for this.

OK I grabbed both, and extracted/mounted the ISO files, and there really aren’t many differences.

Firstly, the VIDEO_TS folders within in both ISOs are exactly 7.50GB (8,058,986,496 bytes). So that’s a good sign.
There are a few differences though:

$ diff -r mega/ spleen/
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/ADYWAN OFFICIAL: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/DOUBLEOFIVE: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/JEANCARL & RAVENSP: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/OWEN LARS KENOBI: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/SAVAGE: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/SKY_: Thumbs.db
Only in mega/DVD_ROM/COVERS & LABELS/SLUGGO: Thumbs.db
Only in spleen/: readme.txt
Only in mega/: Thumbs.db
Binary files mega/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.BUP and spleen/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.BUP differ
Binary files mega/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO and spleen/VIDEO_TS/VIDEO_TS.IFO differ
Binary files mega/VIDEO_TS/VTS_51_0.BUP and spleen/VIDEO_TS/VTS_51_0.BUP differ
Binary files mega/VIDEO_TS/VTS_51_0.IFO and spleen/VIDEO_TS/VTS_51_0.IFO differ

So looks like nothing serious.
The Thumbs.db’s can be ignored I guess, as well as the readme.
Then there’s just the ifo/bup files. I’m thinking those aren’t too important either, compared to the vob files anyway? Though to be honest I don’t really know the purpose of those files on a DVD.
So I think either release is good.
👍

Still, would be nice to know I have the ‘official’ one 😃.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Hi all.
Can anyone help me determine which is the ‘official’ version of SW EPIV Revisited.

On the spleen (which is mine), there are several versions, and the one that ‘seems’ right to me is named “Star Wars - A New Hope Revisited - NTSC DVD9.iso” and is 8362196992 bytes, sha256 of 8f9f8b8b751913437e3057effeb95de9d342d4ee72acebaf7983c5770c653316.

Whereas, I also found something on a mega great site, that was named “STAR_WARS_REVISITED_NTSC_DVD_9.ISO” and is 8163004416 bytes (after extraction), sha256 of 45a685dd397e9405129075a664133cdfc6dd0d268b63643108fcf6a8ed90fdb2.

There’s also some other versions on spleen. PAL 6.55GB (don’t think I want), “Purist” 4.04GB (don’t think I want), other single layer DVD versions…

Any insight would be appreciated.
If the info is already available, sorry but I did not want to go through all 411 pages of this thread. Actually I’d imagine this isn’t even the correct thread…

Thanks

I am interested in a MYSPLEEN invite specifically. Sick of trying and failing to get all 300-something tiny files downloaded from mega.

Anyone willing to graciously provide me with a Myspleen invite, please?

You could get a program like jdownloader or equivalent to get all the files for you.

I am also looking for a MYSPLEEN invite if someone could help me out. Found a link during my usual searches but its 35 gig. Was hoping to find something a bit smaller. Thanks!

The SSE 1.6 is 37.54GB.
An invite to myspleen won’t really help that. Unless there are reencoded versions of the SSE there, but I don’t think there are…

… There were a couple of graphical glitches (scene turned gray/white). Would that just be a problem with the download and or compilation process?

Were you using VLC player? I noticed that VLC sometimes does that for me. Clears up after a few seconds. If it’s really bad I load it with Media Player Classic and it never has those types of problems.
