Some old Star Wars games are heading the Xbox One’s way… (through it’s ‘Backward Compatibility’ catalog)

Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Battlefront II, Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, Star Wars Jedi Starfighter,
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, & Star Wars Republic Commando

There is now a Star Wars Gaming Section in the ‘General Star Wars Discussion’ Index for some of the gaming threads in here down the years.

YEP!! The discs work too! I can’t even decide on what to play first

Smithers needs your help!! - A Radical Collaborative Project -
Time

Alright guys, I have a confession, I’ve been working on my prequel edits for nearly 4 years. I haven’t been active on the forums very much but I am slowly but surely chugging along in my edits, but I am faced with an obstacle. Over the years I have brainstormed, edited, brainstormed, re-edited, re-edited, and re-re-edited my prequel edits. I’ve been getting better and better and I believe I’m excelling in my technical ability to change scenes, mix audio, and make some pretty radical story decisions. My problem, however, is that I’m not talented or skilled or well equipped in the area of special effects, so I humbly come here to ask for your guys’ help.

Anyone with basic rotoscoping abilities/software would be of great help, I mostly need to remove certain characters from a handful of shots along with other little changes. I have masks for most of the backgrounds that I wish to alter as well as a TON of obscure visual sources such as videos, behind the scenes images, and even 360-degree on-set photos.

I will be on here frequently as of now and I will be posting whatever shots I need done, I will supply any help I can with these works and anyone who chips in will be highly credited as part of the project. Soon I’ll be posting exactly what kinds of shots and scenes that I need help with down below.

Also, since my thread hasn’t gotten much attention in a while now, be sure to check out my thread, I have some pretty abstract changes in my version: https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Smithers-Star-Wars-2-part-Prequel-Fanedits/id/17329/page/1

Here’s some new ones.

A Very Rough rotoscope on Anakin on mustafar.

I’m honestly not sure which one is the original.

Goes to show how pointless this edit is. The right shot could be found in either environment with no rotoscoping required.

Im just doing this for Fun that’s all.

Just ignore him, he likes to be cool and pop up on threads just to tell people how “useless and stupid” their ideas are. Your ideas seem fun and creative and offer a different take on what could have been.

Excuse me?! That is not true.

Just shut up dude

A quick suggestion, Can you possibly restructure the Jabba “plan” sequence? It seems to me there’s no plan to save Han at all. All they just do is to get captured and wait for Luke to rescue them.

Hadn’t planned to alter the… plan, but I am open to suggestions, provided they are simple and elegant changes.

I’ve seen videos somewhere on how to fix this… I’ll be back

Feedback Wanted: Palpatine creating the army in TPM?
Time

Okay Episode II is still necessary imo because we should know about Anakin and Padme and how they fell in love, but it does makes for a weird ending for AOTC.

The more I think about it, the more it works out, though. I could say in the crawl that Separatists have been an increasing threat, and the Republic has been using the army to counter them more and more- and the whole “ten years ago” makes more sense in AOTC since Palpatine had created the army ten years prior

Not trying to gloat but you’re realizing my concepts from 2015 lol wait for my edit

I doubt Jay is going to reopen the thread.

I know it doesn’t matter what I think, but I wanted say to someone in power that I strongly disagree with the closing of the banned thread. I think people should have the right to publicly ask questions about people being banned and reasonably discuss the various situations.

Agreed, not sure why it was closed in the first place since that thread was quite peaceful

Random Thoughts
Time

I didn’t know where to put this so I’m leaving it here. I’m so done with the recent behaviours that have been exhibited on this forum. I joined this community when I had just turned 15 and this whole time I’ve tried to blend in to a community made up of (and run by) predominantly adults but it appears to me that so many frequent users of the forum that have been around for many years are starting to behave in ridiculous and immature ways that lower my level of respect for the entire community as a whole. If I were a moderator of this site, I’d be so torn on whether or not to ban certain members permanently based on their recent posts regardless of their status on this forum. I stopped posting on here for pretty much an entire year when TFA came out and a bunch of super young kids, trolls, and random goofs joined and started fucking shit up on every thread by starting shit and creating the sock epidemic which was painful to sit through, eventually essential members such as adywan decided to become much less active and/or take breaks from this place because of how stupid this place became. I came back recently right after seeing TLJ and this time it’s so much worse, not many new members have come to cause a problem (yet) but instead the content of the film has divided so many of us and caused many immaturely resolved arguments along with personal attacks, this behaviour is some fucking outrageous outcome of a star wars movie. I, myself, am split on many aspects of the film but why on earth are people doing things to get banned or to harm each other over it? This is ridiculous, I used to love this site and I know I haven’t interacted with many of you for a long time but I’m genuinely ashamed to be on this site right now. Ugh.

The Last Jedi: Official Review and Opinions Thread ** SPOILERS **
Time

The movie was alright, better than Rogue One but not as enjoyable as TFA. Rian Johnson made some clever choices when disregarding all of the stupid fan-theories and mysteries that TFA had set up but sometimes it seemed too deliberate or ham-fisted rather than being used to improve upon the overarching story. The movie started off terrible, the entire first sequence was annoying, unfunny, and way too cheesy for my taste (save for the last part where the girl blows up the ship, that was cool). I found the part where Leia gets sucked out into space really odd and I felt like it doesn’t really fit her character to have force powers like that, although it did put her in a coma, but I dunno. Luke and Rey’s first scene was okay, the way he threw the lightsaber so nonchalantly was kinda jarring, I would’ve preferred to see him throwing it in anger or something but whatever. I had no issue with the characterization of Luke, he did the exact same thing that Obi-Wan and Yoda did when things went wrong but he was much more self-aware and cynical which I liked, his arc was pretty much non-existent but it rather felt like he just randomly decided to help them out. Kylo Ren was really great, Hux was the same as last time, Snoke was the same as last time and I loved his death scene!! Other than that, EVERY character was underwritten and forgettable.

The #1 thing that bugs me in movies is when pointless scenes and subplots show up and don’t service the story at all, so naturally, I had a huge problem with the fact that 2 characters had an arc and the rest of them could’ve been cut out! Finn did nothing at all, if you cut him out of the movie entirely, there would be no difference to the story. Same goes for Rose, Leia, Chewbacca, Captain Phasma (why bother even bringing her back just to kill her again!?), DJ, Maz Kanata, Hux, C3P0, R2D2, BB-8, and that cartoon First Order General at the beginning. NONE of the characters I just mentioned had any effect on the story, I’m not saying that every character has to have a direct or major impact on the story, but it’s annoying to see characters that have been established as important in this trilogy become less important than a five minute Yoda cameo (which was pretty sweet btw) or the annoying purple haired lady sacrificing herself. Speaking of sacrificing characters, I’m glad Finn didn’t die because he should die in a movie where he’s actually written properly. Rian Johnson needs to learn how to write characters and then he needs to learn to kill characters with some actual meaning rather than for some shock value.

The pacing was pretty insane as well, felt like a 2-act film with really stretched out second and third acts rather than a proper 3-act film. The editing was super off, jumping between scenes at inappropriate times and way too frequently, it came off as deliberate and annoying rather than for suspense purposes. Also, the casino planet didn’t bother me too much, I just hated the super preachy horse race subplot and the whole weapons dealers lesson, get that political agenda out of my god damn star wars movie!

Overall it was decent though, I enjoyed quite a bit of it. 6.5/10

Okay so obviously I’m dumb and I said I’d be done with these before TLJ, which at this point isn’t even close to true because I got a new job basically a week after I posted that and haven’t worked on it since then. I’ll be out of that job soon though, so maybe we’ll see some progress (and maybe I’ll post some color correction examples this weekend).

It’s chill man, happens to us all

Someone did a good job of restoring the Ep 3 deleted scene “Amendments to the constitution/Palpatine’s machinations.”

Could be useful for other edits.

Yea this one’s from the blu ray but his restoration was god awful, why is the quality 240p and why on earth didn’t he use noise reduction to remove background sounds so that it didn’t sounds like a movie from the 40s??

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **

My suggestion was only for an Adywan-approved project; I entirely agree that no one else’s project should carry the name “Revisited”. For that matter, there’s no reason a collaborative PT:R attempt would have to use the name if it was done with Ady’s approval, ideas and/or creative input.

Either way, it’d be quite a while off, even if ROTJ:R comes faster than anyone expects. I don’t want this to derail the thread; it was just food for thought.

I mean… Adywan doesn’t own the word “Revisited” or anything but yeah, I guess someone more passionate could do that. There are, however, several editors working on some pretty radical edits of the prequels already, I’d also check those out. There’s also some really mind-blowing suggestions in this thread: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/The-Prequel-Radical-Redux-Ideas-Thread/id/9911
