Hi, Sky,

Apparently books contain a lot of stuff. I too originally thought they were just text and/or audio, but then I read the discussions here and on the other forum, and it turns out that the books contain text, audio (sounds, music, etc) and video (more dropped footage and scenes).

Otherwise, this scene has become super - as others I’m in favour of fixing Luke’s face, and also in one shot I thought there were more visible uncleaned scratches. But this is really great work of yours!

PS: As I wrote above, I’ll also be happy with a ā€˜special edition’ version (with all ā€˜extra craps’) of the scenes when they are completely ready 😃

Yeah I read your earlier comment I will do the extra stuff once I’ve done a full clean plate, Can I get this other footage your both talking about

Nice done with this.
But it seems in Lukes binocular are 2 stardestroyer.
But there is only 1 that chase the Tantive.
Do you restore the unused scenes from Rinzlers ebooks too?
I would be glad about this.
Thank you very much.

Remind me again about Rinzler’s ebooks? isnt that audio only?

yeah there are 2 Star Destroyers. My honest answer is, I don’t know why I did that lol

This looks completely incredible. The CG Luke’s face animation is perfect. But the color is wrong; his face needs to be darker and more saturated. Just my two cents.

Yeah, many have said this on YouTube. I will fix that, and thank you

Thats incredible, maybe just composite the shadows and coloring matching the reference and it should look good. Don’t know much about blending but maybe this can be used for other deleted scenes too… maybe deepfake could also help

Hay thanks for the Message. The Problem with DeepFake is that It needs a Face to Latch onto, There is no information in the original shot that it would understand where to put the deepfake, I’ve Tried

really great stuff here. Seems like you had a long break from your initial 2018 postings, glad to see your back at it here in 2022…BTW it is your work that inspired me to take focus to the deleted scenes and even my extended versions, so very excited to see your latest.

but seeing yours now I see it can be done (I would not use the turbines, but your landspeeder model as a base for texture from footage on top of that verses a different skin might work (I would leave out the engine in that initial running in shot or at least go just a mesh and dark as opposed to turbines spinning but that is just me. The original does not show the rear engine, so kind of threw me when I first saw it, but it certainly is clean work you are doing with CG.

…but I see you use of 3D CG used in a good way and it makes me re-think. I do think the houses in the background of treadwell and like scene where he is miles out in the desert are too must as the scene works without all that I think. I live around farm land and it just goes for miles with nothing, so feel that is more real for a desert farm, but each has their own take so I am not knocking, just I don’t think you need all those extra elements. If you are offering later 2 versions for people… that works.

Your usage lately w/CG as a compliment to fix damaged stuff is really great use case though. I do like the rear shot of the landspeeder that scene only has two shots and is very boring without some extra, the side shot in itself is really damaged and lots of under exposed, so not sure how yours will look, but interested in that one. Keep up the good work. Also like your luke in the cave fix for ROJ deleted scene. The shot of R2 and like side view looks great.

Thanks for this Detail Message… just Looked at yours now and it looks pretty awesome… It’s always nice to see other fans doing stuff like this, cos to be honest looking at my own work kind of gets boring and seeing others do a similar thing is always refreshing and inspires me and I’m always learning from other people by looking at their work

It’s very flattering to hear that I inspired you, that’s the best compliment anyone can get… so Thankyou

you also mentioned my long break, the truth is I didn’t take a long break, what happened was I hated my work, with all the extra buildings, etc and overall it was a poor job… Some people on here hated it and told me about it, It kinda upset me as i had put so much hard work into it… BUT THEY DID ME A FAVOUR… they weren’t being nasty or anything negative, They were showing me things I didn’t see… THEY WERE RIGHT… when I looked at my work I thought " what the hell am I doing, this looks like Crap" lol
so now if you’ve seen my previous posts ive removed all the extra crap, tried to keep it simple to its original form, and only added stuff when I absolutely had to, for example, to cover really damaged area or something like that…
So going back to the long break, I didn’t upload for a long time just because it was taking me so long to do, Frame by Frame clean up… I only started posting when I had something to post…

Just like now, I haven’t posted in a while, But I’m still hard at work on it every day after I finish work…

Thanks again and stay awesome my Dude

Okay, everything looks good! I’m wondering if u added motion blur to the shadow aswell. Also, just finish composting the shadow itself to match the other shadows and we should be good. Also, if you can send me the clean plate (speeder without shadow) and shadow element, I’ll try and composite it myself.

yes Motion Blur is on there… Ive Still not finished it yet. I need to add Match Grain to the Elements and and clean up certain Maskings in this footage

Also I think you should base the SE shadow as reference, and if you can, also trim down the speeder a bit to make it thinner like it is shown here:

Don’t use the SE version of that shot as a basis on how thin the speeder should be. They made a mistake when they did that shot for the SE and cut the bottom off the speeder. Sky_'s version has the correct speeder proportions.

Thankyou… When I was doing this Addy, I did Notice the Special Edition had Just Cut the Bottom off, I did start with that, So you are Correct here in everything about that…
anyway I sent you a Thankyou on FB for the link you sent me Last week so thanks for that

I suggest you to just do a 2D reconstruction of the guy’s legs, it’s a bit easier puppetering it rather than doing a full CG model, although an alternative can be to project the leg texture to the CG model, which can be difficult. Also I suggest to match the speeder shadow to the surrounding elements, and some of them do periodically ā€œlight upā€ which you should match to retain consistency and shot believability.

Also I think you should base the SE shadow as reference, and if you can, also trim down the speeder a bit to make it thinner like it is shown here:

Im already doing a 2D reconstruction of the Legs. I also tried 2D reconstruction from the Special Editions to dit in this but it stands out like a sore thumb… That shadow is correct as it’s created in 3D space. I also used the angles of the shadow placement of each of the characters on the screen to reposition the shadow of the speeder as it changes position on screen… following the original or what the special edition did was kinda off

Below you can see the Shadow is in 3D space, and also Ive RotoScoped the Legs now

Ok so here is an Update, Still need to add grain to add the Added elements Like the ground, Shadows, etc
but the Guy in front is really Pissing me off, Even on the original footage these parts of his legs Disappear,
I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO… I May have to CG the legs … MAYBE
also the shows of some of the Characters are differnt shades throughout, start off dark and some get Lighter, I don’t know if I should do the same with the Speeder Shadow… anyway A lot to think about, Its 5:03 am here in the UK and I’m off to Bed

Here you go Dat_SW_Guy… I still need to Roto out the guy at the front as you can see he disappears, and still a few bits that need doing in this clip, no point explaining them as you can see it… anyway just an update dude

Looks amazing! My only issue with it are some parts were kinda lagging out, and the shadow color looks a bit too grey and not sandy-colored but other than that its amazing!

Yeah I know, Im gonna also Redo the Shadow, and yes Things are lagging but once ive done all the Rotoscoping I will fix it all
