Going away? Post so here!
Time

Goodbye Jason, you have truly had a great impact on the Star Wars community and on the forum.

You have personally given me a lot of insight on the community and I am very grateful to have met you. It is terrible that these stalkers have gone to those extremes to harass you and Mrs. Ooj, it is absolutely inexcusable. Although I, along with the rest of the forum, am sad you wont be moderating the forum anymore, I have faith that you will be happy on whichever path you decide to go.

Good luck Jason, and may the force be with you.

The first one is the deleted scene just before the stormtroopers looking for 3PO and R2, when they are locked inside a building.
The third one looks like the Jabba scene in ANH.

I believe you are correct. If I recall, in the original version of the scene using the stand in actor, there were a few additional frames with each shot but most of them were cut down for pacing.

Hey everyone subscribed to the post, just wanted to let everyone know that if they want to access the link, they can message me and I would be more than happy to provide it. Due to the terms of service, I can’t put the open link on the post so publicly, but a simple message will grant you access.

Version 2 should be coming out soon and possibly with the assistance of a few others, so stay tuned for that ;).

May the force be with y’all

Part 5, 6, and 7 are coming out tomorrow and part 8 plus the full version is coming out on Sunday

Please leave any suggestions for the Version 1.1 release of this for the December holidays! I would also be happy to let anyone try to make their own corrections as well and send it to me so I can put it into the main project.

enjoy!

There is to much different parts to download,
and it comes with sound artefacts when we edit it (in the cut transition).

In an other point of vue, we are loosing video quality in editing the movie again in H264.
It is to bad 😦

It should be great to have one export with your complete movie (MKV codec gives the best result),
You should use “Wondershare ultimate converter” software for this (With an H264 MKV with a personalized output using “20 000” or “15 000” KBp).

If you are missing space on your computer, you can use an external hard drive for your Adobe Premiere Master output,
or using an other codec like “Apple Intermediate codec” which is not the best but will give you a lighter master. And it should be good enough for the H264 conversion.

Oh something else:
Can you use the deleted scenes and the Animated segment from the bluray to insert in the movie (for example the scene with Vador and the officer in the Death star corridor, Tatooine streets, etc…).

Thank you again

That’s true, but regarding the Blu-Ray deleted scenes, the source I used for the HS was less grainy compared to when Lucasfilm brought it out in 2011

A question:
Do want to share the full STAR WARS HOLIDAY SPECIAL next time, or several pieces?

Should be great to great the entire show,
thank you for your work the image is incredible!!!

I wanted to do the full version, but my encoder has been bricking up my PC for a while, and I just needed to get small chunks out before I put together one piece.

Okay guys, this is actually really frustrating. An export of 26 minutes racks up to 650 GBs I have no clue why it does this, but I would really appreciate some help. If someone would be kind enough to PM me a link of how I can export this without bricking my PC, I will be able to show the world this monstrosity in full HD.

This sounds like you’re exporting your edit at unnecessarily high settings.

yea I lowered it quite a bit, but its still coming in at around the same number

What bitrate and codec are you using to render at?

Its a slightly modified version of DV NTSC booted up to 59 fps. The depth is at 24 bit.

I’d recommend a lossless codec, such as Lagarith or Huffyuv over NTSC DV…

For some reason, even with the bit depth at 8, a 10 minute segment of the project turns into 49 gigabytes. Are there any other recommendations you may have, or should i just start experimenting with stuff?

The size of your project is normal.
The codec you choose for your master, which is the one you work with in Adobe Premiere should not be the same with the one you share with people.
For example:
1- You work with Apple Pro 422 codec (or an other nondestructive codec) for your master and all the editing work in progress. 40 to 90GB is normal with a 422 master (never erase this result master, save it on a hard drive).
2- You have make a distribution copie for people, which should be in MP4 or MKV H264 15000 kbps (You should get between 3 or 8GB as result size).

The result of this second one is the copy you have to share with people.

I also recommend prores as a mastering codec. While technically not lossless, the results are fantastic and efficient (10 minutes of 59.94 SD should be about 10gb at prores HQ).

The mp4 settings listed above by botox1 would also look great for distribution.

I wouldn’t change the bitdepth out of the default. I think the confusion here comes from Adobe. They list total bit depth instead of bit depth per channel (channels being Red, Green, Blue, and Alpha). So with RGB footage at 8bits per channel, you have a total of 24bits. Most software, however, would simply call this 8-bit or 8bpc.

Alright, I’m gonna try doing the 422 master, but how should I convert that into an mp4 or mkv file?

I’d recommend a lossless codec, such as Lagarith or Huffyuv over NTSC DV. Since you’re using DV, the color-space gets downgraded to 4:1:1 which is less than DVD. The bit depth is wayyy to high. 8 bits are typically enough for HD sources.

EDIT: When you say 59fps, do you mean 59.94?

I do mean 59.94fps. I will try the lower bit depth.

Once I am able to export this damn project, for the V2 release I would like to collaborate with a few others in defogging some of the footage, implement more Blu-Ray release material into the Special, and do a bit more color tweaking.

On a more relevant notice, can somebody tell my how I can stop Premiere Pro files from exporting in beastly large file sizes like 680 GBs. I’ve bricked my PC twice so far, and I dont want to do it again until I am certain there is a safe way to do this.

Happy Life Day Y’all

No, I should be sorry, I should have started exporting the day before in case something like this were to happen. Anyhow, I’m gonna send the file over to a friends computer to encode there.
