thought i'd bump this thread with a link to this article

http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/ptech/04/05/apple.software.ap/index.html

quick overview for people to lazy to click the link:

Apple Computer Inc. on Wednesday unveiled new software that allows Intel-based Macs to run Microsoft Corp.'s Windows XP software.

I WAS ABOUT TO POST THIS AS WELL.

isnt this vertual PC.

yeah vista is going to be too good when ti frist comes out but Microsoft is preparing for the future. already this OS is going to insanely good for laptops. it will run 30% faster on the new AMD power chip, which is huge. overall its going to be interesting but what Microsoft is doing is kinda smart as technology is moving so faster software will go outta date pretty fast, vista will be around for alot long then your average OS, and if you get it, it will require fewer upgrades in the long run.

legacy of the force - book series

yeah its pretty good, parts get kinda boring, but if you have all three ready one after the other you'll enjoy it. its a real throw back though dayv. there is alot of stuff from the POV of luke, liea, and other older jedi. the young jedi, are veiwed as exactly thats, young and nieve, even though they are not. Jacen character is really cool though, even though he isnt a master, let alone on the council, luke still talks to him the same with yoda may have talked to mace. or surprisingly vice versa. the more i read about it the more i think that luke is really the sword of the jedi, and that the philosophies need to be left to someone else. jacen is really taking on the role of yoda now, however he is still quite rebellious.

anyway on another note, i think that this might be the last book series for starwars interms of books after the movies. with this 9 book series, and the comics with lukes great great grandson, that takes place 100 years after the fact. 140 years after a new hope, we are finally going to see what happens. i predict that luke as well as many of the old gaurd die in this new series. to tell you the truth i thought they were going to kill luke at the end of the NJO. that would have been a very good end to his life after he had killed shimrra. his last words could have been, "i die having brought the galaxy back from darkness twice, and leave it to you now"

i donno this might be stupid, but they could follow the show, and have harry and MJ fall into a portal, and both die.

which show was that?

A massive assumption is being made ... that IMDB is in any way a good resource for information on films that are still in production. It isn't.

I'm not saying it is, im just saying that if that truely is the plot then i dont have high hopes.

Yeah Shim, you are right, there were grown up elements of the PT, and I realsie that every point I raise about the OT being better than the PT can always be countered. Maybe I am just not good enough with words to explain it, or maybe it just can't be explained, but there was something fundamental in the OT that just elevated it above the prequels, and in fact above many (perhaps most) other movies, especially movies that most would look at as 'silly sci-fi'.

I don't think anybody could have ever made new Star Wars films that everybody was happy with everything about, but whatver the lovers and haters of each trolgy say, there is something ineffable about the OT that made it great, while the PT is merely entertaining (and in some places not even that).

i donno YIYF, i jsut read your post, and IMHO, it seems that you've jsut grown up. starwars was always about really cool spaceships flying about, thats why lucas spent like 90% of his effects buget on one shot way back when. and the jedi of the PT are all noble warriers, mayby not so mystical anymore, but still noble. i donno your opinion is vaid cause SW has changed, but i think people have just grown up alot more and so things no longer appeal to them. i.e. the new starwars stuff. here is a good example, i got up the otherday and watched some sat morning cartoons. I used to love them shows like Spiderman, and Digimon,(the first series was awesome), now i turn it on and i got shows that are just weird and stupid. and i started watching some jsut to see whats different, and the truth is that there isnt much change, it the sam shit, it jsut that i am older now and i can no longer suspend beleif(i think thats the saying) in the story of the show. its just too laughable.

I'm sure you are right to an extent, but there are things about the OT that I enjoy more as an adult - Yoda's zenlike advice, The love story between Han and Leia, the mythical overtones of the story (Son redeeming Father, etc). These are things that were lost on me as a kid. But child or adult, the PT is a differnt breed to the OT, and, in my mind, some of the elements that made Star Wars so special, more than your average sci-fi movie, in fact more than your average movie, have been lost and forgotten by Lucas and the powers that be. Yes, Star Wars was always about cool spaceships and action figures, but it was also about a whole lot more.

ic see what your saying, but the PT had some things like that as well. I personally really enjoyed the politics of the PT, and i know for a fact that would have been lost on the kids. also the teachings of the sith and how they made sense, but they were stll horrible. the underlining themes of power corrupts and so on. I'm not sayin that the PT os as good as the OT, however, many OT lovers/PT haters dont see that connection.

i dont think its too much haveing just harry wouldnt be enough, he villian characters going to be too small for the overall movie, thats why they got sand man. and then the are introducing venom which they have to do. venoms saga was too big to stick it all in one movie. its going to be great watch though, peter is going to kill harry as venom spiderman, then realise his mistake, and thats when he leaves it. eddie brook will find the symbot, and the movie will end with him joining.
