Greedo is not the wimp, Han is

Correct. There is nothing wrong with Han's actions in the Original.

Unless you are looking at it through George Lucas's convoluted idea of Political Correctness.
Don't get me wrong, Lucas is a genius. But he is insane. Absolutely bonkers, off the wall, INSANE.

At least Lucas didn't change Greedo's gun to a flashlight. So he didn't go as far on the political correctness as some other filmaker I can think of...
Of course, they would have to change both Greedo's and Han's blasters to flashlights.

Why do people think Han changed if/when he Greedo shot first?

He said in one shot, Greedo shot way before Han, in another shot, Han shot way before Greedo, and in the take they ended up using they shot at that same time, but you couldn't really tell. (this is from Lucas own words on the Making Movie Magic CD ROM).
You mean the "Making Magic" CD-ROM that was used as a promo for the SEs?

If so, he doesn't mention any of that. What he does say is (and this is probably the 5th time I've quoted this and the 5th time nobody's cared):

George Lucas: "Well, the change in the Greedo scene: it's always been a little difficult exactly how Han shoots Greedo and what Greedo does to provoke that. And obviously, the situation was that Geedo's gonna shoot Han, Han outdraws him and kills him. But in the film, it sort of appeared that Han shot him without Greedo knowing what was going on. That always bothered me so we added a new shot - a wider shot - where you see Greedo fire his gun and have it richochet off the wall, and then Han shoots him so it doesn't look like Han shot him in cold blood. We did have some difficulty in the timing of the laser so that it looks believable that Greedo could have fired the gun and then Han would have fired shortly thereafter but still have it far enough apart for it to read, for an audience to see that there were two separate gun shots going on."

Tune Into G4 This Afternoon...

BTW, I can't say that I'm too familiar with Chris Gore, but he's been the host of a movie review show on FX (I think) as well as IFC's "Ultimate Film Fanatic" show.

The other guy, I don't know about though I didn't really read his comments like you did. I saw it more as him saying that Lucas will just continue to milk the fans for all they're worth, as others on this forum have been saying. As in, there's no money in putting out a good transfer now if Lucas can get fans to buy this one and buy them later too.

This pisses me off more than you can ever realize. This fat asshole is telling us that we DESERVE to get ripped off, in other words. Fucking jerkoff dickless fat slob. I'm mailing this dude to tell him what an asshole he is. That comment was way out of line for someone who reviews this kind of shit for a living....

Here's his e-mail address....please take the time to tell this moron that he's an idiot for saying that.

Chris Gore

I would try to find the other asses address to, just to tell him to shut up and keep sucking Lucas off. Fucking TFN ballsucker. Not even worth an e-mail. Asshole.
Uh.....That wasn't Chris Gore. Chris Gore didn't even appear on that segment!

The guy who made that comment is named Lore Sjoberg, a columnist for "Wired News."

How it would be cool to recomposite, digitally, all the elements as you suggest! We could finally kill all those garbage mattes and roto lines, which are still wall-to-wall in the 2004 and 2006 DVD's!
They may not have been recomposited in 2004 for the DVDs, but they were recomposited digitally for the '97 SEs. Perhaps not all of it, and how effective it was, I do not know, but they did. They mention this on those "What has changed?" comparison articles on the official web site. Many of the models look drastically different in the SEs due to better compositing. Of course, I'm sure everyone's suspicious about the veracity of what gets posted on the official website.

BUT if you've ever seen some of the '97 press material (made available on disc by babyhum) you can actually watch a few minutes of a woman sitting behind a computer monitor, digitally recompositing Luke's training scene on the Millennium Falcon. Hell, she even switches it layer-by-layer for us.

Daredevil - Spence (Released)
Time
Sounds cool. I spent a good deal of time doing an edit of the film last winter. Can't say I was completely happy with my version, so I look forward to checking this one out. Is this cut finished or are you still open to suggestions? Either way, I'll just post a few additional bits that I ended up cutting that I didn't see listed, but maybe you already got them.

I trimmed down Coolio's role a bit. Just a few moments of him looking stupid during his introduction. I then ended up cutting the scene that I believe plays before Elektra's dad's funeral with Foggy defending Jackson without Matt. It didn't really feel right in the context of the story. It's more of a slapstick scene in the middle of a very serious turn in the story. Also cut some of Foggy's antics when he and Matt are in the girl's apartment. I also removed Kingpin's line about being from the Bronx. Just silly. I think I played around with Bullseye's intro. I removed his plane scene (a fun scene, but is it necessary?) and shifted his airport one into its place by deleting the unnecessary "Midnight Cowboy" reference. I also cut things like the "Fight Club" reference, which also felt silly.

Anyway, it sounds like you did a good job. When I did mine I lacked skill, so I was never able to remove the voiceover or do convincing fades, etc.

Likewise for a few other Kubrick movies, as mentioned above. I would expect that Kubrick's expressed preference on this question will be honoured by Warner video.
Uh....Warners has already released Full Metal Jacket on HD-DVD in 1.78:1. They have also revealed plans to release special editions of The Shining, A Clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide Shut (probably uncut) in 1.78 as well.

Well, I believe there are a lot of older shows that have been altered for syndication and haven't been changed back.

I believe Buffy is an example of a series that did have a grand plan. For example, they were able to sprinkle hints to season 5 (like the appearance of Buffy's sister and a certain characters death) a whole two years earlier. But maybe they were making seasons 6 & 7 up as they went along.

Poll: Do You Think the OUT will be Released Again in '07?
Time
I'm thinking the OUT won't be included in the '07 set. It'll probably be touted as Lucas' definitive visions complete with CG Yoda in Episode I and new touch ups and alterations to the other films. One can only hope they'll take the time to correct some of the color timing, lightsaber, and audio errors. So if these'll be the definitive versions, he probably won't include the OUT. I'm actually hoping this set is completely new - new versions of the films with never-before-seen extras and none of the old ones. This way I'll be able to add them to my collection without paying for the same stuff I already own.

So '07 will be the big SW DVD release. I'm thinking they'll do Special Editions of the Indy films and maybe even Young Indy DVDs for '08 to tie-in with Indy 4 if it does get made. So if they don't have anything else for '09, maybe they'll do proper releases of the OUT for '09 where the untouched films are the main feature. Then they can give us new anamorphic and cleaned up transfers, original audio options, selectable crawl, and some of the older vintage material like the making of documentaries and radio dramas. If we call them out on their previous comments, they can cite unexpected demand by fans as a reason for the release. Heck, they can even release the Holiday Special for the hell of it. All wishful thinking, but who knows? Maybe by then Lucas' heart will have grown three sizes.

The Artistic Vision (TM Luca$hFilm)
Time
I don't think Lucas had intended for the aliens to be racist either. I think he was simply trying to make them sound exotic. Only problem is they still spoke English and I assume it's fairly hard to create a new accent. I personally never thought the Neimoidians sounded Asian. Actually, after watching "Kingdom of Heaven", they sound a lot like the Syrian actor that played Saladin in the movie.

Is it an accident that Both Palpatine and George Bush used a situation of crisis to grab more power for the executive branch of a government?

In star wars it's the seperatists in real life it's bin ladin and al quiada.
I don't really see how these fit into the films. How is Valorum Clinton-like? If I recall correctly, Attack of the Clones was filming in summer of 2000. Bush wasn't even the president at the time.
