What kind of car are you?

You're a classic - powerful, athletic, and competitive. You're all about winning the race and getting the job done. While you have a practical everyday side, you get wild when anyone pushes your pedal. You hate to lose, but you hardly ever do.

Funny cause my neighbor really wants me drive his, if he still has it. I'm just a tad nervous about the power, but more so about getting use to the clutch. If he still has it, this summer I'm definitely gonna take my drive

Also kinda funny, my brother is Darth Simon and as he mentioned, he ran over a Vette

HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE
Time
Could always be wishful thinking on his part, always a possibility. So that I don't go off topic, I am pretty happy with the movies. I thought that Goblet Of Fire was the best out of them all so far. Of course the problem with me is that when I watch a movie based off of a book or a comic or something, I always tend to compare it exactly to the book. Thinking about it, I say that I need to, and some of you may disagree, realize that a movie cannot follow the book exactly and has to change things to keep the movie from dragging on forever. Saying that, I do think that they should try and keep in important stuff, such as what Gaffer said about the Azkaban background and the animagi and the origin of the maurader's map.

Just my 1 cent, hey I'm a college student , on the subject.

A SPARK OF HOPE FROM OT.COM WE HAVE A NEW CAUSE !!!
Time
Wow, after reading the post from Momma Blaskvn I had chills. I agree with what DAVY said. I also agree with Momma Blaskvn about this sort of thing renewing faith in humanity. I believe that if we can do this for someone that we met on a forum or because of meeting them indirectly through the torrents we should be able to do this with the poor people around the world. I hope you and Rikter the best of luck and hope that your daughter grows up to be as healthy as she possible can. I hope that you had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year. I also hope that your son stays in good health as I hope you and your husband do also.

That's insane. Is it me or are movies coming to DVD much faster than they use to? There is one movie that came out on DVD and I thought that it was just came out in the theatres, Roller Bounce. ADM, I haven't actually watched your versions of the Harry Potter, need to get them from my brother, probalby Christmas since he lives in MD & I live in NJ. I'll be looking forward to your version of The Goblet Of Fire. DAVY, thanks for giving us a heads up on an approximation of when the DVD will come out. As ADM asked, do you know anything about the deleted scenes and/or possible special features. Might be a little early to find out, but doesn't hurt to ask.

The ghosts in these books are more like ghosts would be in real life I feel, people that might be having trouble accepting their death and so forth. I think if Dumbledore knew he was going to die, he would have been able to accept it, he probably knew that his time was up and that he couldn't do anything. I don't mean that like he is psychic and can see the future. I think Harry is going to either be alone in the next book or Ron and Hermione are gonna tag a long with him. About Harry dying in the next book, I really didn't think of that. I think it's a really good possibility that he is going to face Voldemort, I think I would be surprised if he didn't. And about Snape being good still, I haven't really thought about that, but I kind of do hope he is still good, but I'm kind of skeptical. I do hope JK does leave herself to be able to have more books cause I just can't see this ending, or more like, I don't want these to end. I went from thinking Harry Potter was a stupid book, then read the first one at my cousins house and got hooked. In response to maddog00 saying that JK hasn't decided whether or not Harry dies, I'm pretty sure I read in an interview that, now that I'm thinking about it, I'm starting to second guess myself but, she has the basic storyline in her head but I think she doesn't know the exact details until she starts righting. Can't remember, but does remind me of a good interview I read with her and if I find it I'll edit my post and put the link. One thing I know is that I'm definitely going to be sad after I read the last book. I hate when things come to an end, it even happens with movies. Well, that was my thoughts, let me know what you think about anything that could be commented on.

I said if I found where I read the interview with J.K. Rowling I'd post the link, well I found it. J.K. Rowling Interview The interview is 3 pages long I think, but it is an interesting interview.

One last question. Just to clarify. This version doesn't have "When Love Is Gone" at all, or the widescreen version on the disc doesn't have it? Also, I love the quick responses. So great.

I bought the 50th Anniversary edition of TMCC because I didn't want to buy the fullscreen version. That being said, the new version is somewhat galling, because the widescreen version omits the song "When Love Is Gone", which I consider integral to the film.
Check out my thread here, where I'm trying to get someone to do a transfer of the widescreen LD, which includes the song.

Other than the omitting of "When Love Is Gone", do you feel that it is worth it? Thanks.

Does that mean she'll kill Harry? I doubt it, but it isn't implausible. That's why there are so many people who believe both stories. What I do know is this: I'm ordering Book 7 from Amazon and not leaving the house or getting online until I finish it. Too many of those "Snape Killed Dumbledore" assholes ruined it for so many people this summer and, while I didn't fall victim to that gag, it'll be in overdrive on Book 7. Every spoiler with a car and a handicam are going to be out in those midnight showings pissing off the masses and I, for one, intend to be far far away from them.

Thank you Jeff Bezos for a sane alternative to fighting the mobs and nitwits.

Good idea ADM. I don't see why people can't appreciate that people don't like to get spoiled and respect important stuff like that by not spoiling it for people. (don't think that is the words I wanted, but hopefully I got my point across).

I saw this last month and came away largely satisfied. Most of what was cut from the book was worked out quite well. But there were a few too many cuts which made it feel quite rushed in a couple of places. Specifically:

1) Fleur and Viktor had NO lines. I'm blown away that these two major characters were so shortchanged.

2) We should have actually SEEN the Quidditch world championship. Given that it's the only Quidditch in the story, and it's supposed to be the greatest game of Quidditch ever witnessed in the seven year story arc (we don't even see the game in Book 5, we only hear about it) this was necessary ... especially for the development of Krum's character.

3) Something seemed missing between Harry & Snape's run-in in the potion storeroom and the final task.

4) And lastly, I really wanted to see the scene where Harry gives his prize winnings to Fred and George. It added some levity to such a heavy ending, and it gave one last dig at Ron's dress robes, which were funnier on film than they were in the book. Plus, it sets up their glorious finale in Book 5. And if THAT gets cut, I'll lodge a protest.

So all in all a good movie, just a bit rushed, mainly because of these bits. For all the attention they gave to the Yule ball, these were some areas that were shortchanged. Haven't moviegoers proven they're willing to sit through abnormally good films, so long as the quality is good?

Book 5 can afford so much more to be cut. For such a long book, it had the most expendable material of all.

What I wish they'd do is what Peter Jackson did. Film the whole thing, figure out what to remove for the theatrical cut, then release both the theatrical cut and the extended cut to DVD. Then I wouldn't have so much work to do. :-)

Hey, aren't you the one (of many) that does fan edits? And didn't you do something with the first and/or second Harry Potter films. I think you talk with my brother, Darth Simon. Back to my point....if you are the one that did those, which I think really just consisted of putting the deleted scenes back in, would you do one for the third and fourth movie (when the latter comes out of course)?

The reason for the long hair is because that is the 'mark' of the Weasley's. They are known for having shaggy long hair and poor, second-hand clothes and stuff. I'm growing my hair out again, had it down to my shoulders last December ('04) then decided to shave it off, I have no Idea what I was thinking. I can honestly say, even if know one believes me, which I don't care , that I'm growing my hair out because I want to and not to follow a trend.

I know that had absolutely no bearing on this thread, at least that part of me , but I just wanted to say it. Also, DAVY, how old are your kids? Just curious.

I agree with Rebel Scumb. I myself am not religious, but was brought up Catholic (I think, always get that confused). Anyway, I want to quote Footlose, don't remember it exactly, but the Reverend says that "The Devil is not in the books but inside of us." Now that is not exactly how he said it but what he was saying during the scene where people were burning books. This whole arguement reminds me of the Christians boycotting stores for not saying Merry Christmas. I feel that religions tend to be hypicritcal (however that's spelled). There are so many problems with religions but this is not for this thread. This also reminds me of violence from video games. I feel if a child cannot tell the difference between reality and fiction they shouldn't be allowed to play a game. Same concept for books, except they shouldn't be allowed to read the book.

Anyway, as not to get off the movie, I really liked this movie. I think that it's the best movie yet and it was really well done. Gaffer Tape, I find it cute that you cried . I also think you're a real man for admitting it. I agree with you about that part. In the book it definitely gave me the chills and I felt my throat tighten up. Never cried but I feel it was even more powerful in the movie. I'm definitely going to be getting this when it comes out on DVD, which the way stuff seems to be going will probably be by summer next year. Is it me or do movies seem to hit DVD really quickly after they are out of the theatres? Anyway, I definitely reccommend the movie and if you can definitely read the books as they do have more depth.

The only complaint that I have about the movies, and it's not just these movies, but all movies based on books. WIth a book you need to use your imagination cause there aren't pictures. I feel that after watching these movies I am having a hard time creating the characters in my mind as when I first started reading the books. Is anybody else like this? Just curious.

I have to agree with Darth Simon about House, and not just cause he's my brother . I am currently catching up on Season 1, been following 2 on tv. As a college student and not having a job 40 bucks isn't in my budget either. MeBeJedi is def right about that show being great. Hugh Laurie is an awesome actor, and did ya'll know that he is British and he is faking that American Accent. Read the hardest things for him are using the cane and doing that accent.

About TV on DVD, I'm def for it. I have Batman: The Animated Series, every volume out and planning on getting the final volume when it comes out. I have seasons 1 & 2 of Fresh Prince, also gonna get season 3 when it come out valentines day. I have Full House (yes, I admit it, but I liked that show). I would get so many more but as someone mentioned they do tend to be expensive. There is also the problem that there is soo much that I would like to get. But I definitely think that TV on DVD is great because, for me at least concerning old shows, it either brings back memories or gives me that comfy feeling inside .

Hey DAYV

You said you were gonna review Polar Express but I didn't see a review? So would you review that. Also, would you review The Muppet Christmas Carol: 50th Anniversary Edition(1), (the new one) I have the old one and am planning on getting the new one cause it's widescreen and the old version is full frame Also, another request is Charlie And The Chocolate Factory 2-Disc Deluxe Edition. The one I really want is The Muppet Christmas Carol, because I have Charlie, just want to see what you thought of it, I haven't gotten to the special features yet. Just remembered, can you also review Sin City: Recut & Extended Edition(1). I asked for this for Christmas so I want to make sure it's worth getting. (hopefully my mom already ordered it cause it comes out the 13th) Okay, I'm really gonna stop editing this, I swear. Just rememberd another DVD. Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol, there are two versions of the DVD. Which one is better, the one by Sony (new one) or the other one. If you review all these that would be awesome. The two with (1) after them are the two that are 'high priority' so to speak. Ok, hopefully I'm done editing this.
Thanks, I appreciate it.

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol DVD
Time
Hey,

This is for any of you people out there that are in the know about DVD's and stuff. I did a search for Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol on DVD and there were two versions. There was the old version and then a new version out by Sony I think. I was wondering if one version is better than the other, i.e. did they cut some stuff out, better extras on the one (if any), stuff like that. Not really a big deal but if anyone knows anything I would appreciate it. Thanks

I went through every page and read every post. I would just like to say real quick about the Michael Jackson thing, and this is not towards the person who originally used MJ as an example. Watching the news, the family sueing MJ supposedly went to Jay Leno and asked him for money, Jay Leno is going to testify against that family. I don't really follow the case so I don't want to say anything else to dig myself into a hole. But is there really any proof that MJ is a child molestor? That's all I have to say on that.

Now back to the original post. I turned 19, so I saw Episode I when I was 13 and Episode II when I was 15. When I first saw them I didn't know about all this "controversy". But as I watch them now, I thought I liked the PT better, but I am realizing that the OT is what made SW what it is. Watching the PT, it definitely seems that Lucas didn't think about what he was doing and just put the movies together quickly. One thing that sticks out in my mind is that in the OT it was said that Obi-Wan was Yoda's apprentice but in episode I he was Qui-Gon Jinn's apprentice? Yeah, he wasn't thinking there. In other posts you can find out more contradictions. I am hoping that ROTS is better than the first two PT movies. But I definitely prefer the OT.

Anakin's ghost?!?!?!
Time
As much as I do not like George Lucas changing HIS MOVIES, I would have to say that some of you need to think. You want to know why they didn't make Obi Wan look like Ewan MacGreggor....hmmmmmm.....I wonder.....maybe because the other actor was in Star Wars Episode IV, wait....that makes to much sense. They changed Anakin because he actually has somebody that he can now look like, granted they could have kept the old guy because nobody would really know what Anakin would look like grown up. And the last thing is, even though a lot of us, myself included, do not like the changes George Lucas made, guess what...THEY ARE NOT OUR MOVIES...if it wasn't for Lucas the Sci-Fi movies wouldn't be what they are like today. SO STOP COMPLAINING!!!!!
