Dawn Of The Dead Ultimate Edition Volume 2-UPDATE Discs 1-4 (Released)
Time
Just to keep you all posted

The DOTD composite edit is coming along, originally i was editing the 29.97fps interlaced footage although i realise now that wasn't the best option as i would end up with a video stream running at 29.97 full frames per second with the interlacing encoded into each picture frame. about a week ago i decided to start again but run the DGindex project files through the TMPGEnc IVTC and re-save it as a tpr project file (using VFAPI again to produce the fake AVI files) so again there is only one re-code of the mpeg file when exporting it from premiere. so i now i am editing a progressive source running at 23.976fps, then i'll output it as 23.976fps progressive and use flags in the MPEG stream to get the player/software to perform the pulldown on playback, resulting in a much better quality picture on a TV and progressive playback where possible, and im now back up to 45mins.

Dawn Of The Dead Ultimate Edition Volume 2-UPDATE Discs 1-4 (Released)
Time
For anyone who is interested, I'm attempting a DOTD composite edit using the
DOTD ultimate box set. I started on friday night and am now about 38mins in.
I'm frameserving the original DVD MPEG's to premiere, then exporting that back to
MPEG using CCE-SP2 so there is only one re-encoding which should keep any
degredation in quality from the original DVD's to a minimum. I'm keeping it
16:9 anamorphic widescreen as per the original DVD's with one Dolby Digital 2.0
audio track. if/when it's relased it'll be as a DL DVD (to keep the quality as
high as possible) on bittorrent.

I remember reading somewhere that the german composite has shots found in
no other version of dawn, apart from the argento, extended & theatrical
cuts + document of the dead, can anyone else suggest where else i might look
for source footage?

Has anyone here got the dutch filmworks 2 disc DVD (with the argento & extended
versions)? I really liked the DVD menu look on that & wanted to use the same look
for my composite edit DVD menu but i only have the 3 DVD ultimate box set. if anyone
has & can capture pictures of the main menus & such from both DVDs and e-mail them
to me as BMP files, please PM me.
