I find this absolutely hilarious given how one of the most common complaints haters never shut up about is Rey being too competent.

I mean, I feel like that’s exactly why JJ and Company did that exact thing in The Rise of Backpedaling: Fanboys got upset about her being too OP and not having any sort of familial connections to explain her “power levels”. Then BOOM! She’s a Palpatine and The Ghosts of Jedi Past help her in the end.

This is exactly the kind of thing I’m trying to remedy.

I’ve had some absolutely fantastic feedback from the workprint, and I’m making some major changes based on the ideas that were shared. It’s really starting to come together.

Yeah, that works.
I would have loved it if this scene has had some more weight to it, like being the third lesson Luke was owing Rey from VIII. But there is just not much to work with.

Under those circumstances, your take seems to be the most solid one.

Definitely agree, given the available material you’ve done a really nice job.

The rancor rampage can actually be cut by having Boba v Bane be the climax. Then cutting to the Fennec assassination scene.

Having you considered replacing the ‘Cobb Vanth in bacta tank/MOD-ifier guy’ scene with the humorous ‘Grogu getting a joyride in Mando’s ship’ scene as the post credit, therefore giving a more serious ending?

Much better episode today I thought, should prove very useful for the edit, although it is a significant detour

The key to this edit might be reducing boba fett’s dialogue as it seems out of character for him to be as verbose as he is in the show. I just read an interview with Temuera Morrison who said himself that he didn’t think it was consistent with previous appearances and had asked Jon Favreau to cut his dialogue down

Both clips work well, I would probably favour the second on the grounds that the scenario is a little more straight forward, however both have their merits. Look forward to the final, updated edit

Right… as with most editing tasks, the Tatooine to Trask segment turned out to be a rabbit hole!
Once I had decided that the simple wipe to cover the entire journey didnt flow, it opened up a lot of work and tinkering to get the segment to work. There were a number of things that made it tricky, such as Grogu’s variable presence in the cockpit. However, I have managed to put in the interaction with the X-wings, which has helped give the movie some galaxy-wide exposition.

Anyway, here is the completed segment.

All that is left now is some dialogue tidying, touching up the opening pan shot, end credits and a final decision on whether to include the deepfake Luke.

If anyone wants to do a test viewing let me know, it would be good to get a couple of checks before going public!

Overall the clip works well, but there is a minor continuity issues at the end- they land ok, but the ship is dripping wet as they walk away from it. Perhaps just cut from the landing straight to the overhead shot of them walking toward the canteena? Or cut out from the planet approach straight to the same shot of the party walking to remove the issue of the razor crest being damaged. There also a frame around 7 mins 19 secs that appears to just be a black screen. I would be happy to preview/test if it helps.

How’s the edit coming along? Are you still aiming for release today?
