Original Trilogy set I made from Laser Disc to DVD (using the Faces LDs) (Released)

And another thing. Anyone in my position will probably tell you the same thing; and that is sometimes you get people emailing you "I'm pretty desperate for DVD/DVD-R copies of the untainted, widescreen Star Wars trilogy..." or "Are you sure that will be enough?". You will probably get it too. Now, speaking my own mind: anyone who exploits other's compulsive instincts is pretty rotten. Now I don't make profit from distributing discs (which other people poured their souls into), at least I don't think I do. I think TR-47 does, but hey that's his choice, I don't really care. All the more power to him.

I think that you've been shown a bit too much contempt for your introduction spidy, and I'm sorry I couldn't have replied earlier. Obviously a lot of people here do not understand the time, effort and money that does go into these things. Anyhow, I'm not feeling so well, I hope some other people will come to their senses and at least try to see things from your side and understand your resentment.

MagnoliaFan Edits: Ep I "Balance Of The Force", and Ep II "The Clone War" (Released)
Time
Hey there guys -

I just got the the PG version from "ADigitalMan" and it's COOL - There seems to really be no changes to the dialogue other then making it more of a PG version of the Edit so for those of you that wanted a more TONED-DOWN version for your kids, other family members or for those of you that thought the alleged "swearing" went to far. YOU now have an option!!

Again THANKS for your efforts in doing this for the (no so unrated) fans

NEW - MagnoliaFan’s Episode I - Balance of the Force [ADigitalMan-PG-Remix]
NOW including a new "ADigitalMan" PG SUB-TITLE Re-Edit of MagnoliaFan’s “Balance of the Force”
- 1 DVDr
- Subtitle Track 1 - Original Subtitles
- Subtitle Track 2 - PG Subtitles - subtle dialogue changes
- Source - DVD re-edit
- Custom Cover Art available

UPDATE

This is an update from "ADigitalMan"

1) MagnoliaFan's original subtitles are still on the disc, on subtitle stream 2. Nothing has been "taken away" from his version.

2) You're right in that the dialogue changes are subtle. As a former editor (word, not video) I merely tried to punch up the dialogue a little by using more active voice and less passive voice. i.e. The characters are "doing" more, as opposed to "having things done." That said, there were a few key differences in my version of the dialogue. Namely:

3) Jar Jar still tries to be a tough-guy, but not to the point of being a jerk to everybody. Instead, he's trying desparately to fit in and make himself useful, in spite of his foibles and insecurities.

4) Jar Jar makes the point that he considers Nass to be weak-minded, underscoring the point that this leader of the Gungans was so easily affected by the mind trick. This bit at the beginning of the "bongo" scene changes the feel, as if we've come into the conversation a little late, where Qui-Gon might have been explaining how the mind-trick works. It becomes more of a counterplay with the scene in Luke's speeder in Ep IV.

5) Jar Jar intentionally set loose the wagon full of boomers on the tanks.

6) Nute Gunray never suspects Padme to be the queen, as he's never seen her face and she approached him still dressed like a handmaiden, not in the Queenly gear. This makes her plan that much stronger, as it allows her to get close to Gunray, then use the decoy queen to draw all of the battle droids away.

HD-DVD vs. Blu-Ray
Time
But support is what counts at this point....

Sony says that the PS3 is going to be Blu-Ray ready.

I feel that the Gaming World has a MAJOR impact on media format nowadays. Look how many folks (adults included) bought the PS2 for the DVD player features - Most homes with a PS2 or X-Box no longer have or use a standalone DVD player as they both offer GREAT DVD playback along with the gaming ability - I also feel that the REAL convergance of the Home Theater and the PC will take place with the X-Box2 and the PS3.

But since Sony has Blu-Ray on the brain already (including set-top recorders ALREADY on the market in Asia.....) and now that FOX has tossed in "support" it's really only a matter of time now.

JUST a thought here but I bet that FOX supports the format for "COPYRIGHT" reasons as do the other partners....

As a PC/MAC based Blu-Ray recorder is YEARS away before it becomes "affordable" - Media is always secure until that point - VHS~ had Macrovision, CD~ There were NO affordable set-top CD recorders for at least 10-15 years AFTER CD was a "commercially viable product" then they had the failed MediaMax CD3 and DVD's have Regional lock, CGMS and CSS to prevent duplication.....

ANYWAY - I support Blu-Ray

I don't know if sweet is the right word. I just ran across an extremely oogly picture some days ago and felt it needed some touching up. So I think what you mean is "disturbing, yet meaningful post"...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHA - I was hoping that wasn't you and yes it's a "disturbing, yet meaningful post"

He ask me how much the DVD set would cost I said $20.00 dollars. This is what he said. Right on.

I've never made a set nor do I feel the need to. Like
I said if you get your set out I will get a copy
either via a trade or for a few bucks a disc.

I feel that $20.00 dollars is not alot. For the people that do video editing of it is not a cheap hobby. My laserdisc player cost me $1000 my DVD recorder costs be $700. Plus I bought three Star Wars face cents trying to get the best copy I could. Trying to avoid laserdisc errors. Each of the Star Wars face sets cost me about $70 dollars.I do not like it when people try to get things for nothing and somebody else has to do all the hard work. It took me about nine hours to make this DVD set. This set is made for people that do not have laserdisc players were do not have the knowledge to make a DVD set themselves. The money that use goes back into video editing.

1st. What !?! - I never asked "how much the DVD set would cost"

This is the real email I sent you...

I would love to get your OT LD transfers please let me know the details......

- I NEVER figured you were selling them .... as this forum has rules against OPENLY selling them that is. (I'm sure you did read the forum rules - right?) - okay, it's cool to make a few bucks for the duplication of the discs but to say that you just want to make BACK $1770.. for your EFFORT?? Really now.. Is that necessary? (as others have suggested - eBay is really where you wanna be buddy)

3rd. You say you've invested $1770 min. into what you say is only "about nine hours to make this DVD set"

- Sorry to make that seem insignificant BUT...

MeBeJedi... ( And a few others like - Zion, Laserman, Farsight, Dr. Gonzo and ISOMIX - a few well liked and respected forum members) alone has spent the better part of 1 YEAR... yes, O-N-E year or more now and ENDLESS hours of trial and error creating his set; a set for the fans - And he ONLY really asks to receive recognition for his many achievements. (Oh yea, did I mention that he's got a ZILLION $ in medical bills that his family has to deal with - YET he still will offer his set for free via download? MBJ - SEND the bookie my love man!)

Man, I could go on and on about the creators of these MANY sets and the wonderful work they've done. (NOT to mention the FREE downloads that Dr. Gonzo, Farsight and MYSELF have provided. BTW - I have Droids up for free download now )

In any event.

IF ANYBODY has already gotten this set or if anybody PLANS to get it.....

PLEASE, Let me get a copy from you and I will make "SPIDERS" Original Trilogy Edition "available" for FREE via the TORRENTS as soon as I get them!

(I will make it VERY much worth your efforts to get me a copy of this set - and you know this man! )

- I would like to thank the forum for all your support - MeBeJedi you da MAN! - (I'll be posting your PROTOTYPE as a torrent AFTER the Droids is done - I PROMISE!)
