- You sent me?? WHAT the hell are you talking about!???

These were sent to my by another member here on the forums FOR FREE I might add - You made these sound so GREAT that ONE person here on these forums actually bought them for $20 from you and you also took 17 days to get them to him on top of all the emails that he forwarded me.

But who cares about that?

This is THE ORIGINAL TRILOGY website NOT the "Look at my edits I made using the DVD's" website and this thread is called "ORIGINAL TRILOGY PRESERVATION" so take your hack job warez to the other thread thats titled General Star Wars Discussion.

I have all of the "SPIDER" DVD's now including the "BEST STAR WARS DVD" and I will be watching them this weekend so I have not posted any CONCRETE FACTS just preliminary information.

He ask me how much the DVD set would cost I said $20.00 dollars. This is what he said. Right on.

I've never made a set nor do I feel the need to. Like
I said if you get your set out I will get a copy
either via a trade or for a few bucks a disc.

I feel that $20.00 dollars is not alot. For the people that do video editing of it is not a cheap hobby. My laserdisc player cost me $1000 my DVD recorder costs be $700. Plus I bought three Star Wars face cents trying to get the best copy I could. Trying to avoid laserdisc errors. Each of the Star Wars face sets cost me about $70 dollars.I do not like it when people try to get things for nothing and somebody else has to do all the hard work. It took me about nine hours to make this DVD set. This set is made for people that do not have laserdisc players were do not have the knowledge to make a DVD set themselves. The money that use goes back into video editing.

I got them

STAR WARS: The Torrents thread
Time
ANYONE that complains about waiting is a LEECHER! - THAT is way there are SHARE RATIOS.

I've also donated a some cash and I will continue to solicit donations fo MYSPLEEN.NET as they are THE ONLY site that has allowed me to use their tracker. IT's also one of the only torrent sites (beside 'adult' torrent sites) that does this. AGAIN the share ratio PREVENTS Leechers.

NOW for those of you that DO NOT know what a leecher is....

At first it ment ANYONE that was downloading a SHARED file (now called peers) BUT now it means that YOU download a file and close the torrent right after your download is finished without giving it a chance to let others download from you!!

If you want to avoid being a leecher you NEED to keep the torrent open for as long as you can. (YES, YOU)

It is considered GOOD form to share a torrent file until you have a share ratio of AT LEAST 1:1 (but PLEASE try to have it at 1.5:1 or 2:1 that way the torrent will stay open longer! (thereby giving everyone else a chance to download it - you crazy kids!)

Now, what the heck is the share ratio?

When your share ratio is at 1:1 that means you have now uploaded the same amount of data as you downloaded and 2:1 means you uploaded twice the amount as you downloaded and on and on...

So the lesson here is....

Share or be a $%^#*& (If sharing is not your thing - you could get the DVD's and videos from eBay right?)

Okay, CLASS dismissed.

Info: Stop ebay pirates

So the question then is, since we CAN stop them, should we?

Report them if you must but - I think that if you do shut them down one seller at a time (which you indicated you have) YOU will be the single cause of the next insane price INCREASE on ebay - I say this as I've witnessed this over and over again in the last 5 years on ebay...

Day one - there are 20 sellers offering Star Wars Trilogy DVD auctions for $30-50 (the average eBay ending price with keepcases)

Day two - 16 of them are shut down.... AFTER being reported by a distraught fan that feels it's not right to pay such a high price.

Day three - (BTW - most auctions are only three days or B-I-N) the 4 auctions that did NOT get shut down end at $70 - $125 EACH!

The result is the same NO MATTER how many times I've seen it. WHOEVER reported ALL the auctions is now the direct cause of price increase - this is the very thing you seek to stop is is not?

HUM... counter productive it is...

WHY???

Well, here is the why - BY reporting the auctions and getting them closed said "distraught fan" has now created a "RARITY" market in which the value of said DVD's SKY-ROCKETS strickly due to the fact that you now only have a very limited number of choices - so inturn you have now created a greater demand for the DVD's by artificially created an even more SCARCE and RARER item.

So NOW those desperate Star Wars fan have NO choice BUT to buy the set for $70 - 200 dollars. (and you've seen prices that high) it's all marketing.

The Marketing of STAR WARS OT's on eBay as seen by me...

Demand: Refers to people's willingness to pay high prices just to own these DVD's.

* the fact that these are NOT on any known official DVD;
* the fact the official DVD's ARE not the same movies some of us saw as children;
* THESE recordable discs are only "convenient" format for fans to watch the TRUE versions of the films on DVD;
* THE only "Affordable" format for fans to aquire the ORIGINAL versions at this quality (the alternative - obsolete Laserdiscs)
* the price of the DVD's - $30-50 with keepcase and art is FAIR. (how much are the offical DVD's?? - right about the same price);
* these movies are the shiznit - and you know this!

Supply: Is really the number of producers who are willing and able to provide the DVD's. (in direct relation to ebay)

Supply depends on:

* the "avalibility" of the title - these are OUT-OF-PRINT and may NEVER been seen again in there original form or context,
the only real alternatives are obsolete and used OOP VHS tapes and Laserdiscs (how many AVERAGE movie viewers have LD players?)
* the easy avalibility of the DVD's to the AVERAGE fan/consumer; (eBay has how many users now?)
* the cost/ease of production for the producers; (relatively low at this time)
* a competitive supply - (NOT everyone has convenient access to broadband or DVD recorders)
* unexpected events that affect supply. ( "distraught fans" reporting auctions of said DVD's)

Sure these forums and all my free downloads of the trilogy help preserve OUR "HOLY TRILOGY" for thousands and in some ZANY way so do those eBay sellers - I mean do you want to email the next MILLION fans that will buy them on eBay and tell them that instead of buying them you will send them free copies?

YOU need to allow new competitors/suppliers (eBay sellers in this case) into the market, and the price will ALWAYS and inevitably falls due to increased supply - we do want to preserve the films and make them readily avalible to the fans right? By shutting those sellers down you deny fans the fun of watching the ORIGINAL films as they were ment to be seen.
