However I will presume to speak for myself .... for those of you who requested entry into my board to get my covers, if you have no more need for anything or anyone there, I'll be deleting the accounts unless asked or requested otherwise - I found it a little disheartening to see so much "grab and run" going on ... I mean, would you have even posted in the forum at all if i didnt require it for you to download anything? or downloaded more if I didnt cap everyone off at 15?
Sheeeesh what a reclusive bunch.
Sorry for the rant, but I feel like the guy who hosted a party and a bunch of people came and drank thier fill of the premium beer and just took off once they had their fill.
I never even got the covers but I do thank you for the offer. - I joined but there was nothing of interest in the forums
Originally posted by: wolfhead MBJ, it seems to me that Daniel would have no complaints about your transfer if you just gave it a new name. May I suggest "The Fantastical Adventures of Luke Skywalker in Space" (U.S. title) or perhaps "The Rebels Stick It to the Capitalistic Empire" (Australian title).
I've seen about 200 independent films this year alone ~ ALL from the GREATER SOUTHWEST - (New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Utah and Oklahoma)
We even have about 10 LITTLE Film festivals here in Albuquerque once a year. SO it would seem that maybe you might be mistaken on this DanielB - BUT, then again YOU may not see them as "independent films" at all... As the are made by capitlistic american film makers!
Originally posted by: DanielB Why is America more Capitalistic? You will work it out. One thing is hollywood. I don't like hollywood. No other country in the world has a film industry like it. Independant American Films are so few and far between now. Now that doesn't matter to me as much as Independent Aussie films - but it should matter to every American.
slamdance.com/, digifestsouthwest.com/, aivf.org , ifp.org, filmmakers.com, film-makerscoop.com and then there are all the Film Festivals that are ALWAYS taking place like - The Santa Fe Film Festival, Durango Film Festival, Vail Film Festival, Moondance International Film Festival, Denver International World Cinema Independent Fall Film Festival, Telluride Film Festival, The International Experimental Cinema Exposition............. and the list goes on.
And all of these take place within the next 6 months and WITHIN 500 miles of Albuquerque, New Mexico (a little itty bitty city by US standards) so your saying that we DON'T HAVE Independant film????
Yea - I just wish that Al could get those LD's again! (bad capture that could have been better - weak colors) - But I doubt that we'll ever get them again as they moved to somewhere in Texas
These are the screen caps of the set that I have...
Please keep in mind that this capture is over a year old and done with a ALL IN WONDER 128 (I think) - straight capture I don't know all the settings that were used as it was one of my brothers first captures - I also HAD another set that was captured from the LD's but have since lost them

Originally posted by: DanielB That could be used for a very good project. IF I had the resources this is how I would do it:
Rip the (PAL) LD's. Upscale to anamorphic, run filters over the frames, etc. Then replace frame-for-frame every frame that was not altered in the original (from either the HD-TV rip, or the PAL DVD whichever is the better source). That way you keep the LD's audio without splicing it, and it's still frame-for-frame the same as the LD ecept with better quality where available. The quality would drop here and there, but it would be the best possible preservation. Of course no one except me would ever do it.
TRAITOR! - I thought your were a purist - DUDE, these are changes man and you talk all this smack about KEEPING the films ORIGINAL - Have your molecules been so radically rearranged within the last 6 hours?
Okay, SO after endless days of this illuminating.... nah, needless and paedomorphic debate*
LET'S PLEASE agree,
1st - ANY CHANGES to the original films - BE IT color correction, gamma correction or whatever - VOIDS it from being called the ORIGINAL TRILOGY as they are NO longer the "Original UNALTERED Version" - SO - Only straight untouched Laserdisc and VHS transfers can be considered a part of the "ORIGINAL TRILOGY PRESERVATION" - PERIOD
2nd - ANY CHANGES made to the films (again... color correction, aspect ratio change, cut and paste, new effects or ANY CHANGE) is considered an ALTERATION ~ AND will now be called EDITS - So to reiterate, IF you add, correct or alter in ANY way the ORIGINAL laserdisc/VHS transfer it is NOT the Original Trilogy... But YOUR Edit (just like MagnoliaFan and the Phantom Editor) PERIOD
- SO let's PLEASE move beyond ANY changes made by Lucas, MagnoliaFan, MeBeJedi, Mverta or any other aspiring editors in THEIR collective endeavors.
END of story.

ALSO - can someone get some screen shots of the Dr. Gonzo Making of discs? - I will post some screen shots later tonight (I'm encoding video on my main PC right now) - ANYWAY off to do another HD install!
I just created a new Laserdisc to DVD conversion of - THE MAKING OF STAR WARS as TOLD BY C-3PO and R2-D2 and the SPFX of THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK both from the NTSC US release of the LD's and I also now have CLASSIC CREATURES and THE MAKING OF A TRILOGY form the US VHS tapes. - The trasnfers were done about 1 year ago and I just found the MPEG2's on one of my external HD's that was out on loan to my brother. - I might put these up on the torrents in December along with the new Holiday Special but we'll see.................
