I think there is a thread for 97SE discussions, it should be taken over there. I think the 97SE is only relevent here as it pertains to footage that was still original in the SE that is now not in the DVD as that makes the SE a potential source of restoration for a real OT.

HMMMMMM....

Shipping down under on my set??

Let me price it

Star Wars Celebration III...
Time
I was planning on going but I was recently laid-off and I used up all my savings for going to keep my Cable Connection and Phone running this last few months.... BUT I'm kicking the idea of selling my VW GTI and If I do that I might be able to go still

I had planned on raising some cash to pay for plane tickets for MagnoliaFan but I never planned on being canned ... EITHER way IF MagnoliaFan would still like to go I will still buy his ticket whether or not I go, the last time I spoke with him he showed interest and if that is the case the ticket is his BUT It looks like the plane tickets COULD still happen but I'll start a donation drive if necessary!

SO Mag - IF your reading in I'll give you a call in a day or so

Star Wars Celebration III Set for Indianapolis

Event Extended to Four Days: April 21 to 24, 2005

MARIN COUNTY, Calif.-Jan. 23-

Star WarsCelebration III, the much-anticipated fan gathering that will celebrate the Star Wars saga in advance of the opening of Star Wars Episode III, will return to the Indiana Convention Center April 21 to April 24, 2005.

The announcement of the location and dates of the convention was made jointly by Lucasfilm Ltd. and Gen Con LLC. Gen Con will manage the convention on behalf of Lucasfilm and Hyperspace: The Official Star Wars Fan Club. Celebration II, held in Indianapolis in May 2002, attracted more than 26,000 fans from all over the world.

"We had such a great experience with Celebration II, that it just made sense to return to Indianapolis," said Steve Sansweet, Director of Content Management and head of Fan Relations for Lucasfilm. "Only this time we're going to do it bigger and even better. It's going to be an event that no fan will want to miss."

Sansweet said that advance indications point to a significant increase in attendance at the event, which will take place several weeks before the Spring 2005 release of Star Wars Episode III. Because of that, and to mitigate long lines common to such conventions, Celebration III will occupy the entire convention center except for the RCA Dome. Also, the convention has been extended for a day, and will open around mid-day on Thursday, April 21.

"Gen Con is thrilled to be working with Lucasfilm on this very special event," said Peter Adkison, owner of Gen Con LLC, producer of Gen Con Indy, which also is held at the Indiana Center. "Together I know that we will produce an event that will not only meet, but exceed, fans' expectations. With Lucasfilm behind this show 100%, it's going to be the biggest party in the history of the franchise."

Sansweet noted that the Celebration III announcement is being made far earlier than the announcements for the first two official Star Wars fan conventions. "We want to give our fans all over the world the chance to plan their vacation time for this one-of-a-kind event," he said. "We've already been getting requests for information from Australia to Hungary."

Details about programming, guests, activities, entertainment and exclusive merchandise at Celebration III will be released as they are confirmed closer to the convention. The main places to check for information will be www.StarWars.com, the official site, and www.StarWarsCelebration.com. Online ordering for admission to the event and for discounted hotel rooms is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2004.

I would like a good '97 SE torrent tho. I think that would be a better source for De-SEification. The contrast and picture differences would be less apparent. Plus the '04 DVD editions introduced a host of new technical problems that the 97 SE did not have.

Hal, the Look 5-5star SE are a REAL nice Special Edition Transfer most likley the best transfer of the S.E. boxset - But they are VERY big though as the are dual-layer DVD's...

Look 5-Star SE Dual Layer Set

- Star Wars is 6.68 gigs
- Empire is 6.61 gigs
- Jedi is 6.89 gigs

OR are the Look set you have all about 4gigs each (they are then the "Look DTS S.E."), IF they are only single layer discs the quality is PooDoo as they are BADLY shrunk versions of the 5-Star with defective DTS audio.

I would suggest you make a poll to see if there is a demand for the DL 5-Star SE set first as the Dual Layer look set is nice BUT - #1. MOST people don't have Dual Lyaer burners #2. Dual Layer discs are about $11 each shipped.

Joking aside, I thought it was about time I opened my mouth here.........

........and look out for the ESB continuity errors caused by the SE changes.

Lucky dog!

It must be a frame-rate issue as it seems that the player affected the most were region 1 players but the mutil-zone and format players had no problems - I'v not gottena list of DVD players used but I bet that was the casue of the playback "jitter"

BTW - Russs15 has also been a HUGE contributor to my efforts of getting these torrents out, so please; let's all welcome him home!!

Russ, you ROCK!!!

PLEASE READ....

When I ripped the original DVD I only copied the VIDEO_TS and the CONTENT folders - I was not aware of the JACKET_P folder and I wanted to be sure it was included. The AUDIO_TS folder was not included as it is not needed to burn the DVD...

I'm sorry this happened the JACKET_P folder took me by surprise - SO i've posted it on my site....

UPDATED NFO and the missing JACKET_P folder

STAR WARS - from the "Mysterious Mysteries" Collection
a.k.a. "Original Theatrical" Pre-ANH DVD

The "source" information about this version of the O.T. is not known as the original "creator[s]" left strict instructions that no copies of this set were to be made, or to mention who the creators were. So I've tracked down as much information that I could find regarding this set and have effectively named the set the "Mysterious Mysteries" Edition as the creator[s] wish to remain anonymous.

The Following Info was lifted from OriginalTrilogy.com
(Edited and remixed by Blaksvn) -

This DVD seems to be an attempt to re-create the "Original Theatrical" Version of Star Wars before the 1981 addition of "The New Hope" in the titles done to match the title from The Empire Strikes Back to achieve this the creator[s] have recreated the title.

The video transfer in this collection is from the 1995 "Faces" THX Laserdiscs and features a fan-created rendition of the "original title crawl", but it's very well done. And it even has retained the lower case "r" in the word "rebel". The sound mix used on this DVD is the mix from the 1989 "Widescreen" laserdiscs; this was a remix done by Ben Burtt in 1985. It's closer to the original 1977 Dolby Stereo mix than any other set at this time. The creator[s] of this set seem to be VERY skilled at audio editing, as they included the deleted Williams
cues BACK into the isolated score mix where they were originally supposed to go, and they're re-edited in seamlessly. The same goes for both the Empire and Jedi DVD's in this set. The work on Empire itself is very good, as there were quite a few cues on Hoth that were cut out, but they're integrated back nicely in this collection.

This is a yet ANOTHER very interesting DVD that was created by true fan[s] for other true fans.

AGAIN - Just so you all know I use Vonage Phone Service which uses my Broadband Connection SO when I get a phone call I need to either throttle back the torrents or PAUSE them while I use the phone, I do this as the torrents use up all my BANDWIDTH and it makes simly talking on the phone or EVEN reading emails a serious chore. AGAIN I'm sorry about this but it must be done from time to time.

BTW - I just paid my cable bill (2 weeks late but in full!) and I would also like to thank the "mysterious" person from myspleen.net who made the donation that made this possible! - THANKS again bud
