The Philosophy Thread - Where Serious Questions "May" Be Discussed

...a fair answer from the view point of the individual so afflicted for certain...but what of the same scenario viewed from the vantage point of his/her child/children? Would such as these consider an early or later exit to be the most beneficial to themselves?

The best option, it seems to me, would be for the gambler to make a real effort to quit, for the sake of those he was harming. I think it would be better that the gambler didn't kill himself in any situation, but whether that would actually cause less harm would depend on the specific situation.

Snoke is a goofy name, but not as goofy as other Star Wars characters that I (and probably you) already love.
Boba Fett... Bib ForTuna... Snoke sounds like Shaft in comparison.
"Supreme Leader" has a cool old school sci-fi feel to it. I like it. And like others has said, it's likely we won't hear his actual name mentioned often, if at all.

I was just thinking that it had a lame, cheesy sci-fi feel to it. ;)

What they do with his character is far more important than what they call him, though.

For those that don't remember or didn't know, I've been living in Québec for about ten months (with my family) to learn French. A couple days ago, I had to present a five-minute song analysis in French class. I spent a lot of time on it, and didn't finish the written portion without help. I was feeling fairly nervous, since I got laughed at during the last presentation I made (which wasn't terribly well done).

This time, however, I didn't feel too nervous the day I had to present. I asked to go first, to get it over with as quickly as possible. To my surprise, I made it through without my knees knocking together, no one laughed, and got 96% to top it off, so I'm pretty happy (it helps that my usually cranky teacher was in a good mood).

If Hell is real and sinners do end up in it, they suffer only as long as they sinned, and their suffering is only as great as their sins. Since no one has committed infinite sins, no ones burns in Hell eternally.

Every sinner who has ever lived atones eventually -- every sinner.

That sounds more or less like the Catholic concept of Purgatory, though those who reject God even once they've seen him do get stuck in Hell forever.

Some think that no one would reject God in this case, and that even if they did, they would change their mind eventually. I disagree, though I can't offer any evidence either way.

Well, hopefully this won't be permanent, but seeing that only one person even considered joining the League of Bunnies and even he never said a definitive yes or no, I decided that I should leave until the Team_Ender situation ends. Congratulations Team_Ender on your wonderful stalemate.

Hold on a minute, we all joined (in French, no less)!

Team_Ender

As I have already mentioned, sometimes I can't tell if people are joking around or not, thus, I feel that I will never feel comfortable at originaltrilogy.com as long as this Alternate Reality Game is going on.

Goodbye! I'll see you soon...hopefully.

Hopefully we will. We are joking around, but not at the moment, as we don't want to see this bout of delightful silliness drive you away.

I have enjoyed this thread immensely...thank you Danfun...although I seem to have a lot of catching up to do if I am to understand what it is for...

Seemingly we have now formulated teams? How might I now join this team my good Bunny Emperor? What then shall be our next move?

Read at least the first couple pages of each of the following threads (in the given order):

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Negative-One-and-TeamNegativeOne/topic/17827/

http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Join-Team-Ender/topic/17848/

You'll probably need to follow links in the first one to get an idea of the background behind it, since you haven't been out of Off Topic much, and especially not recently.

I We see that one of us does not know how to spell our name.

Are you attempting to make us look bad by "correcting" pronouns that are already correct in the original post?

Design failures (and successes) of the PT
Time

As has been mentioned, the pod-racers and droidekas had good designs. I don't understand those who hate the pods because they're "obvious copies of chariots." As if everything in the OT was completely separate from real world concepts.

I also like Theed, Otah Gunga (or whatever that Gungan city was called). The Gungans...not so much, though they could have been tolerable if the ones that got screen time weren't so goofy. General Grievous's wheel thing isn't bad, although I don't know if one could really consider it a success in terms of design.
