That was pretty good actually. :)

You were fooling around in his threads, he is now fooling around in yours. This isn't Off Topic though, ender, so maybe save that for elsewhere.
It happened again (with Warbler's broken computer thread (EDIT: and also with his chess thread) in Off Topic), but it didn't follow the pattern I thought I had noticed. I'll continue to watch for it.
Yeah. Warb *might* be willing to try it, but I don't know who else would. It is playable with two players, but not nearly as fun, so it would be nice to have a game going. There is a slim chance I could get "Post Praetorian" to join us, but I don't know if he would be able to play during the day.

EDIT: Hold on, I didn't want to do that.
I made a bad move, so I am changing it to C-4k while I still can.
I should be able to scan some rules in some time this week...

I had a computer like that. After a while, I wasn't able to hibernate it or put it to sleep because it would just shut down.

I'm not quite sure about that move, but I'm going with it.
Sorry, you were right. I'm going to wait until tomorrow (sorry, it's going to have to be in the evening) when I'm not tired before I make my move. I don't want to do something stupid.
February 8:
A.D. 1622: King James I disbands English Parliament.
A.D. 1905: A cyclone hits Tahiti and nearby islands, killing about 10,000 people.
A.D. 1910: Incorporation of the Boy Scouts of America.
February 9:
Two sports' firsts on the same day:
A.D. 1895: First intercollegiate basketball game is held, and volleyball is invented.
A.D. 1971: Apollo 14 returns to earth.
A.D. 1986: 30th perihelion of Halley's Comet.
Um...check? Currently you have my bishop, a dragon king, my drunk elephant, a lance, and two of my pawns "in check" but not any king or crown prince that I can see.
...You did say that "#" signified check, right? I just want to make sure we're on the same page here.

Wait, it's too soon! Well, hopefully I can hold you off. You're going to completely shatter my defenses in that area if you do this right and I'm not quite set up to retaliate.

Not having many long-range pieces sure stinks. It's going to be reeeally hard to get up behind your lines and take out your powerful pieces.

No problem (letting you go ahead, that is). I didn't figure it would ruin me too much. ;) Besides, I think it may end up being positive for me unless you do something unexpected.
S-8k
No, you go ahead. You've continued on after mistakes before and I would want to go back a few turns (from the time you moved your lion to that square). I don't think it will be that devastating in the end anyway. I suspect you will win the game, so I see no point in extending the game just so it takes a bit longer. Don't worry, I am enjoying the game, so don't think I just don't care. :)
The reason I was asking is because I had made a mistake. I had your lion on 10e, so obviously your move seemed kind of dumb... I'll live with it though.

I would suggest a template. It's hard to get anywhere without one and easy to get stuck without having an idea of what's coming next.
Oh, I do have the general plot worked out. When I meant template, I meant another body of work to work off of (a script, a book, etc.).
I see. I thought you were trying to write linearly without any kind of structure! :)
I really enjoyed it, but don't you think the first two thirds or so are a bit too reminiscent of the opening of A New Hope? Of course it won't be as noticeable with the rest of the story afterward, but maybe that's something to think about for a future draft. I think parallels work well, but be careful not to overdo them.
Yes, it's very reminiscent of the opening of Star Wars. But that's what I was going for; I wanted the beginning to mirror that of the first movie, but with the details switched around (the camera panning up instead of down, the ships moving under a water planet instead of over a desert planet, etc.).
You don't really have to worry about too many parallels, though; from here on out the story goes off in a completely different direction.
I see it now. It would probably look better on screen than it would on "paper" anyway.
I don't know how some people manage to play entire chess games without a physical board. That must take some practice.
Now, there must be some purpose to the move you just made, but I'm not seeing it...
