STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW

Han tells Luke that he's sticking him in the Tauntaun to keep him warm until he can build the shelter. I figure the mound of snow we see in front of the beacon is the tent that was snowed over during the night. There's a whole scene that takes place inside the shelter in the radio play.

That's interesting. I need to listen to the radio drama of ESB. I've only listened to ANH (three times through).

I don't have Harmy's ESB, but I do have the film. I watched that part three times and listened closely. I hear the music and the squeak of Luke's derriere on metal. Later there's the strain of the antenna when he lands, but. . . I just don't know what you're talking about. This is Puggo's 16 mm. Maybe that makes a difference, but I've watched four other versions and never noticed it.

ROTJ is the best Star Wars film... discuss!
Time

Puggo - Jar Jar's Yoda said:

ROTJ is a poorly-conceived movie with ridiculous plot holes and a shoddy structure, that is totally rescued by the wonderful additions of two memorable characters: Jabba, and the Emperor. Every scene with those characters in them are marvelous, and the juxtaposition of a wrinkly old evil sorceror with this high-tech space battle is fabulously done. The climactic scene with Vader, Luke, and the Emperor is on a par with anything in the OT. So despite its flaws, I still rank it close to SW and ESB. I think anyone who puts ROTS even close to ROTJ must be looking through strange glasses - it's not even close. My ratings:

SW - 10
ESB - 9.5
ROTJ - 8.5
TPM - 3
AOTC - 2
ROTS - 2

ANH - 9.8
ESB - 9.9
ROTJ - 5

TPM - 5
AOTC - 5
ROTS - 6.5

Can Episode VII ignore the prequels?

There's nothing inherently wrong with the gradual progression from good to evil you mentioned. But that's never actually how it's played in DE.

Han is skeptical of Luke's intentions, but Leia vouches for him. She senses his "sacrifice" in the Force, and believes him to still be a Jedi at heart. They end up taking down the Devastators on Calamari (a major blow to the Empire), which wins the reader's trust. Luke is only really tempted by the dark side near the tail end.

I'll set aside my criticisms of ROTJ for a minute to say that the dark side, in my opinion, is scarier when it dominates suddenly. Luke came damn close there to taking his father's place at Palpatine's side, because he lashed out in anger. If he'd wanted for a molecule less of self control, he would have gone from hero to villain in seconds. That's more disturbing to me than the other method.

Info: OT Scenes Cut After Scoring...
Time

Tack said:

There appears to be handful of scenes that were scored, and then subsequently cut. These are some of them, I think.

SW:

-The rear-projection landspeeder was scored, and only the tail end appears in the final film.

-I think a couple of shots of the final battle were slightly longer originally.

ESB:

?

ROTJ;

-The original opening (fully completed actually.)

-Luke's jump to the rancor pit.

-A short montage of Death Star scenes before the Emperor's arrival (the music cut is fairly obvious here.)

Does this have anything to do with the extended Battle of Yavin that Adywan implemented? I wouldn't know, I downloaded the Purist version.

Just like how everybody flames me for disliking the EU.

I'd defend or at least root for you if you were disparaged for critiquing a single story. Or heck, many stories. Even ANH or ESB, as long as your arguments made some effort at sense.

But that is different from dismissing the entire EU because it "sucks".

And if through some miracle you turn out to be someone new to the forums, and not "the shadow returning" or whatever, then I promise to intoxicate myself on alcohol and humbly ask your forgiveness. I'd rather be naive than a Pharisee.

Man of Steel is a weird film on every conceivable level. I could sit and write a novel-sized post on how weird it is, but it honestly speaks for itself. The plot, the acting, the pacing, all feels (appropriately?) semi-alien.

I'd recommend watching it twice, Skyjedi. People seem to form their concrete opinion of MOS in their second viewing.

*Nods*

He's reigned himself in since reading these posts. But the subtlety will bore him after a while.

Did you know our strange friend? Or have you read old posts by him? He really makes me laugh, if you know whom I'm referring to (and it sounds like you do).

I've played the role of forum archaeologist and read some of those posts, yeah. And the "shadow returns" scenario has played out on several forums I've participated in.

Never revealed this until now. But seven or eight years ago, I had an account here. It's long gone: password lost, email account abandoned. I voiced my dislike of ROTJ and several members flamed me. The weather has. . . changed since then.

I checked out Dark Empire since Bingowings and I talked about it in the TFU2 thread.

The art is awesome. Hypnotic, even.

But I walked from the story feeling like it was pretty pointless. I was disappointed we never actually saw a dark side Luke (hey, if that's the hook, which it was, stick with it). Instead all he does is stand among some Imperials and glare at people, all the while sabotaging Palpatine's plans while Palpatine is fully aware of the sabotage and happy for it.
