Put that request where it belongs, and I can guarantee approval.
I just got back from seeing Fast Five.
It was pretty bad, but not as bad as I thought it would be, and TheBoost would fucking love this movie.

Not in this household 3-D is a gimmick and is useless to me.
I will cling to my 35mm film viewing until theaters phase them out, and cling to 2D movies and tv they will have to drag me kicking and screaming otherwise. The day all cinema is 3D or Video, or tv is televised completely in crap 3-D is the day i go back to reading books and books only, lol.
I mean these twerps probably want the news in 3-D too, is just banal and stupid.

Because some people in off-topic might never see LOL items that aren't in off-topic.
I appreciate this part.
After last night (we watched [part of] ANH:R, Adywan would be proud) I think those chances are a little higher. Perhaps a "what should RedFive's Lady's username be?" thread is called for?
P.S.
So a while back I mentioned a girl I went out with, and we've been hanging out a lot since. Well last night we were talking about movies, which ones were our favorites, and she said, "Well, I really like Star Wars, so those movies are probably my favorites. I can watch them over and over." I proceeded to tell her about the restoration and fan edit communities, and all the fan-created DVDs of the OT I have, and (unlike most people) she listened. There's now a six-movie marathon on the horizon..

It's not sad, it's business.
What's sad is that the world as an adult is not as you imagine it to be as a 7 year old boy.
QFT
But all that's on the surface. The whole movie can be seen as an allegory for humans self-destructive behavior - that our tools we create end up destroying us (hence the famous cut from the bone to the nuclear hub in space, not to mention HAL). I've always preferred the more metaphorical explanation, or even a religious one. People forget that Kubrick was very religious. Here's one explanation:
Dave (along with all humans) want to find out the answers to things, that's why they do everything they do. They see something they can't explain (monolith [religion/god/nature]) and they do everything they can to find out what it is, or what is all means. They even go to the edges of the solar system to find the answers, and still get none. It isn't until he dies, and is in the presence of god, that all is revealed to him in the form of the Star Child. I'm not religious by any means, but again, it's just one of many, many interpretations.
If you really want some crazy interpretations, watch it on shrooms - it was like seeing it for the first time!

Oh yeah, Frailty! Underrated movie.
Quoted For Truth! Who would have thought Paxton + McConaughey = brilliance? The universe works in mysterious ways...

No way. It would have been brilliant, not... creepy and boring like Spielberg's.
HAVE YOU SEEN 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY ??? THAT ENDING WAS RATHER BORING.
Boring?!?! That movie is a masterpiece!! I've seen it several times, and it was never boring at all!
I wouldn't say that the ending is boring, but it is an ending that I can't get. It's too convuluted for me.Dave travels in his pod to the giant floating monolith, which is actually a stargate, and gets transported a million light years to some interstellar zoo. There in the zoo the aliens observe him, watching him age through the years, before transforming him into some kind of elevated space god.
Of course, I had to skim through the actual book to get the actual meaning behind the ending.
Wow, I never would have gotten that from the film. But it was entertaining.
That's the great thing about 2001, that's only one interpretation of the ending. And just because it's in the book doesn't mean it's any more true. Kubrick and Clarke wrote the book and movie at the same time, and IMHO Kubrick was the one with the genius. Not to rob Clarke of any glory, I'm just saying Kubrick could have and did have other things in mind than an "alien zoo". Although I do like that interpretation (I just like others more).
Oh yeah, ummm, no spoilers! :p
It's a little fast, but it works, and the end was really funny

(DoubleO/Red)Five-
How was the 3D?
Totally unnecessary. It wasn't overly bad or anything, you could just tell it was done after the fact.
And I can tell that is Ronto butt DNA.

Q: Was that NSFW?
I see you've met frevious.
Random thought: Years ago I posted on boards.ign.com under the username "rageKaGe3" (where I had over 10k posts, sheesh!), and I used that name for just about everything. Back then, when I would google ragekage3 the first 15-20 results were all about me. I just checked at 8 out of 10 on the first page are still mine. Cool.
Yes.

I wish they had given a little more details about the technical aspect of the Blu-Rays. With each film getting a 6.1 DTS audio track i guess that means every film will have a new mix. I'm really hoping that they take a leaf out of the Clone Wars tv series surround tracks and have the dialogue and FX in the centre channel without any music bleed through. This would be a fan editors wet dream ;)
Do you think that they won't do that with the center channel just for that reason?
I know, repetitive. What can I say, I'm on a kick.
