Yeah, most major studios (audio or video) have some means of baking tapes today. When they remaster an old recording, for example, they often have to bake the master tapes.
Sorry for the delay digitizing the second tape. My computer has been tied up rendering a series of tapes for the past month.
The 8mm version is from the Ken Films digests. The parts that are included could be synched -- I think it would be interesting to sync those, and fill the remaining holes with some sort of narration, describing what is coming up and whether it is different from the other mixes.
These 8mm versions aren't to be confused with something like a Derann.
My original files were 16-bit.
BTW, I sent Mavimao the 8mm audio files too.
It is possible to love something that sucks. For example, I am quite fond of creepy puppet yoda, and I love Plan 9 from Outer Space. Both of which suck.
Just a FYI... there is about a 5-second missing segment somewhere in the mix that I patched with a fold-down of the stereo mix. I need to go back and find out exactly where it is so I can post that information here. Wouldn't want someone to list something from that patch as part of this mix.
Also, the audio was captured using the audio output of an ELMO 16CL 16mm projector (actually, the Kodak-branded equivalent). No other processing of any significance was done, other than synching it to the video capture (which was quite tedious and took an entire month).
Is there actual evidence that that really was the "original vision"?
I can think of no possible way for the sequels to be as bad as the prequels. It's hard to imagine what they would have to do to achieve that.

Most places aren't beautiful, Tatooine was supposed to be "a little rough", and Obiwan was a "hermit". The original version reflected that perfectly. Turning it into a sort of Disneyland was part and parcel of the SE ruination of a great trilogy.

We should think twice before setting up an automated announcement system. Yes it will make it easier for enthusiasts to monitor the projects, but it would also make it a whole lot easier for certain other people to monitor them as well. At least the way things are, when stuff gets finished, we know a whole bunch of copies will get out there before any proverbial hammer drops.

I think there were other audio differences in the Puggo Edition (8mm) as well, and even one visual difference.
The sync problems have nothing to do with 24 vs 23.97.
The video capture is frame-by-frame, so the video is rock solid whatever speed you want, depending on the pulldown you choose.
The audio, however, is captured using a mechanical 16mm projector, a completely different machine than does the video capture. It has a motor and belts and gears etc., and naturally will vary slightly in speed due to different tensions on the belts as the film mass moves from the supply reel to the take up reel.
It is a trivial matter to sync something at the beginning, then move to the end and stretch the audio until the end also aligns. But, given the sway in speed over the course of the audio capture, parts in the middle will still be way out of sync.
My workflow was that I synched the beginning and the end in a Vegas timeline. Then I'd go back to the start and watch. When it drifted out of sync, I would insert a cut in the audio timeline, and stretch/shrink both sides until it was aligned again. I then would have to go back and make sure the earlier part was still in sync. Then I'd continue to play forward until the next time it went out of sync. I'd guess that by the end of a reel there would have been about 20 or 30 cuts.
It is complicated by the fact that the original film wasn't always perfectly in sync either. There are some spots where overdubbed voices and foley sounds don't match perfectly.
I don't know how well the PSB audio would synch with the GOUT, because I don't know how well the 16mm video matches the GOUT video. If they are identical, it would be easy to simply stretch it to fit. I suspect there are going to be enough micro-differences at scene changes to make synching with GOUT tedious, but easier than what I had to do.
