What didn't you like about TFA? SPOILERS
Time

“That’s because it should be intuitive why I don’t like them.”

Since liking or not liking the film is an opinion, it may not be intuitive to people reading your post. Your explanation helps. Also, I see you did get around to posting why you did not like certain (or all) of the scenes in the film. Excellent!

The overarching of your criticisms is that the plot points are contrived. Of course they are. The whole film is contrived. Most films are. However, there are better ways to move the plot forward.

I am not bashing you.

I look forward to more of your detailed analysis.

Smoking Lizard,

I don’t have a problem with you not liking many aspects of the film. I have a few of the same gripes as well, but the problem with some of your posts is that after saying what you didn’t like, you really don’t explain ‘why’ you don’t like them.

Example: “Suddenly the new and improved First Order TIE fighters are two seaters.”

First, this is nonsense. It didn’t happen ‘suddenly’, it took 30 years of improvements. Is Ford still making the same 1985 F150 today? Of course not. Second, there may have been 2 seater TIEs in the OT that we never saw.

But back to the question…
WHY don’t you like 2-seater TIE fighters?
So you don’t like the quicksand explanation. Why? Is quicksand impossible?

Also, some of your gripes are either snarky or sarcastic to the point which makes me wonder if you even liked the film at all?

“But there’s other crashed junk all over the place that hasn’t been swallowed up by the desert.”
Perhaps there was a whole lot more before now and it was gradually swallowed up over many years?

“So BB-8 tells Rey that that random dude is wearing my master’s jacket – or, well, a jacket that looks just like my master’s jacket. So Rey runs over and smashes him in the face with a blunt weapon.”

WHY is this a problem? BB-8 Knows this is his master’s jacket. He is a droid and has a perfect memory of every detail of the jacket. Rey mistakes Finn is a thief or some kind of bad guy and stops him. Why is this a problem?

“Oh no! The First Order is on to us! They’re chasing us!”
Again, WHY is this a problem for you? The First Order is trying to capture a droid and a traitor. They will be chasing them…what were they supposed to do?

I could do this all night, but you get my point. I’m cool if you have dislikes with the film, just explain why and you will likely get the lively discussion you want.

Who Was Obi Wan Kenobi's Real Master?
Time

Furthermore, ESB and ROTJ it seem like the Rebellion doesn't know who Yoda is. As Senators in the Republic, the Rebel leaders would know about any Jedi who were prominant in the war.

How could you get this from the two film you mentioned? What Senators or rebel leaders or anyone in the rebellion mentioned knowing or not knowing Yoda?

At what point in TESB or ROTJ did Yoda present himself to anyone other than Luke, Ben, or R2-D2 for someone to not know whom he was?

Still no contradiction. It is fair to assume some things that we don't see on screen still took place. We know that for Obi-Wan, Yoda was 'The Jedi Master that once instructed me.'...and Yoda did. We know this because Obi-Wan said it and Yoda does nothing that contradicts this. We just never saw his instruction on screen.

If you really want to get technical about it, the words used by Yoda and Obi-Wan would suggest that Yoda was not the one that trained Obi-Wan. Follow me on this:

Obi-Wan says 'instruction' when speaking of Yoda's involvement in his education. Yet, when Yoda is working with Luke, he almost exclusively uses 'train' or 'training' which suggests a deeper involvement than 'instructed'.

Also Yoda going from living in the big city to living as a hermit was explained on screen. He had to go into hiding as his life was in extreme danger, so he had to find a place of safety. Also, his ability to see events clearly using The Force was clouded. He needed to find clarity through peaceful meditation and solitude...to re-center himself with The Force. He picked a place that would provide both.

There is no contradiction... technically or otherwise.

I don't find the films inconsistent at all.

First, the films never directly indicate that Obi-Wan was Yoda's padwan. What we do know is that Yoda was 'the Jedi Master that once instructed me' and that Obi-Wan was an impatient student ('Was I any different?').

However, I think the answer is that Qui-Gon was killed before Obi-Wan could complete the trials to become a Jedi, and Yoda became his surrogate Jedi instructor preparing him for the Jedi trials.

Furthermore, because Obi-Wan sat on the Jedi Counsel, we can conclude he achieved the title of 'Master'. Perhaps Yoda was the one whom continued his training on the way to the title of Master.

This seems like a very reasonable way to explain it, and it does nothing to harm continuity.

Episode VII: The Force Awakens - Discussion * SPOILER THREAD *
Time

I have some photos too! They're of Harrison Ford, you can clearly see that where his leg broke that he has a Terminator endoskelton. He's definitively a cyborg from the future.

I got the pictures from a friend but I can't let anyone see them.

I know you are just busting my chops, and I am ok with that. I kinda knew it would happen.

Make of that what you will.

something I always wondered about the PT
Time

This one is hard to reconcile when you think about it. I guess that stems from Yoda's feeling that Luke's 'family' is the best place for him (and not Obi-Wan). Of course, this is after he lets Bail Organa take Leia.

My feeling on 'why' is that Obi-Wan explained (offscreen)the situation to Owen, and the importance of keeping Luke on a short leash with instructions to give Luke very little information about his biological parents and the events leading him there, hoping to keep him low key. After Owen and Beru are briefed and agree to take Luke, we see the handoff at the end of the film.

I know, not great, but plausible.

Well, as for the Jawas picking up scrap that we never see in service in the PT, we never see the scope of how far they travel. They could be going to locations that we never see, so I am ok with that.

Maybe Tatooine is the only place that has the proper environment that supports Jabba's species, so he has to stay on that planet? So I'm ok with that too.

It is hard to explain Luke's view of Tatooine in light of the prequels. However, we don't really learn from any of the films how far the Lars homestead is from any populated area. Luke's view of Tatooine may be very small. Yes he gets to use the landspeeder and the t-16, but maybe he isn't allowed beyond a certain point or 'There'll be hell to pay'.

Anyone watch the Lego Star Wars episodes? NOT the video game stuff.
Time

It wasn't at all what I was expecting. I stumbled across one while channel surfing, and I gotta admit I loved it! It is literally a Star Wars parody with all kinds of 'in jokes'.

One highlight: Han, Leia, Chewie, and 3PO get caught by a blaster weilding Stormtrooper. Han pulls out his blater and shoots the trooper dead.

3PO: Oh my stars! Han shot first!

Han: Of course I did. It was me or him. Why wouldn't I?

3PO: That is a subject of some debate.

I'm just saying you should check it out if you like Star Wars that makes fun of itself.

That original trilogy change you wouldn't mind
Time

ROJ:

Edit out Han saying 'it's me' on Endor and 'I love you' to Leia at the bunker. They water down his character.

Get rid of Ben's 'a certain point of view' angle during his conversation with Luke. Just fess up. He had good reasons.

Put a longer pause before Leia says to Luke 'I wish I could go with you'. She delivers the line waaaay to quickly.
