<strong>The Book Of Boba Fett</strong> (live action series) - a general discussion thread - * <strong>SPOILERS</strong> *
Time

SW is overcrowded with heroism to the point where it’s starting to feel less like high science fantasy and more like low level Marvel superhero team ups (ala those Netflix Marvel series that all had the same dour hallway fight scene in every one lmao).

The height of Boba Fett storytelling for me came in the form of the graphic novel, Boba Fett: Death, Lies, & Treachery

Fills that anti hero need and vibe by pitting him against even meaner and more brutal enemies and situations while still keeping him mostly a cold untrusting and ruthless loner

I don’t much like his female assassin side kick. The most interesting thing you can do with their dynamic is cause a betrayal or power struggle between them. Right now it’s too vague and dull. Plus Fett really hasn’t convinced me yet. I wanted him to be something colder and less sociable. Would’ve preferred if he’d tricked or double crossed Mando and the female assassin in s2 just to reclaim his armor and vanish rather than aiding and assisting everyone. He came off like some duty driven tool instead of the spiteful bounty hunter I hoped for

The Kenobi <s>Movie</s> Show (Spoilers)

Knowing Vader, why would he ever presume Obi-Wan’s death? Next to Yoda, Obi-Wan is public enemy number 1: the only surviving Jedi Council member, and who Vader has a deeply personal vendetta against. I doubt Vader and the Empire would let his escape go. I imagine there’d be wanted posters everywhere and the moment any Stormtrooper is able to locate him the leadership on Courscant would instantly be aware. This isn’t Cal Kestas or Kanan Jarrus.

For that reason, I find it more likely Obi-Wan and Vader fight again, and this time Obi-Wan will find some way to fake his death. It would explain a lot – why does Vader and Tarkin presume Obi-Wan’s death? He faked it somehow, permanently getting the Empire off his trail and allowing him to focus on protecting Luke. Why does Obi-Wan know Vader’s “more machine than man now” when he last saw him burning alive? Saw him personally, and realized that Anakin = Vader in the suit. Why didn’t Vader ever trouble to visit his old home on Tatooine, the first place to visit if you were hunting for Obi-Wan? His death was faked so he never bothered.

A fake death could even tie into the “death” of Obi-Wan and the “birth” of Ben.

Great points. Sure hope the Kenobi production team is onto the same conclusions that you are…

Could really be a meaningful Rogue One esque betweenquel if this is the case.

I’d be more worried if this mini series promised something less than epic. I’m all for another Obi-Wan vs Vader duel and more onscreen insights into Vader’s mission, but what excites me more is the possibility of smaller duels and skirmishes with a posse Vader’s Jedi Hunters (the knights of ren we never got). I just hope they give each of these hunters enough development and characteristics to be both menacing and memorable.

Considering the time period in which the series will be set it’s very likely that we’ll get to see some of the Inquisitors which has now appeared in Rebels, Fallen Order and various comic book stories. We might get to see familiar characters like the Grand Inquistor in live-action, though probably some new ones that can be killed off by Obi-Wan and/or whoever he ends up allying himself with. We might even get to see some live-action Purge Troopers.

Yup…already totally geeking out about those prospects. Never watched the cartoons, so I’m more familiar with some of those from playing Fallen Order which was the best thing since Dark Forces 2 and KotOR imo.

Hell, throw some bounty hunters into the mix.

The Mandalorian Season 1 &amp; 2 Mixed Edit Ideas? (Spoilers)

This season has no continuous momentum & no building tension or stakes. Sure now that the child is abducted (once again) there’s a stake but it’s not as tight nor fresh as season one, and there’s nothing organically cinematic about tying season 2s episodes together in any way.

I’m thinking the base raid maybe could be integrated into season a 1 film edit but everything else would be somewhat at odds. It’s truly meant to be episodic, this season especially so.

But for the most part season 2 just feels like “set up some spin-offs and season 3” in a nutshell.

I feel like all the episodes are just filler until they go to ashoka then to the pillar thingy with boba fett

Yeah I mean maybe from Ashoka onwards a movie can be made but it still wouldn’t be such a compelling one imo. I still like the season as fan pleasing fluff but it doesn’t hold a candle to the last one.

Does Oberin still get his head decimated onscreen? Might not be for everyone, but I really appreciate the bombast and spectacle of that particular death scene.

Yep, that’s still on there - kept a lot of the gory stuff which serves a purpose within the story, like I wouldn’t take the Red Wedding out for example. It’s all the gratuitous stuff that’s gone (a lot of Theon’s torture scenes in S3, the rat torture scene in S2 etc.)

Ah great. That’s extremely reasonable. Some of those torture scenes were also kinda tedious, felt like the writers were stretching it out until the other plot threads could catch up.

Idea: Knights of Ren Overhaul - Ideas for Fixing the KoR in TROS
Time

I posted this elsewhere to no avail but:

idea I have rn for shifting the Knights of Ren vs Kylo fight to earlier in the film, thus repurposing them as elite Sith cultists.

I’ve edited a scene to insert after kylo first confronts the emperor and draws his saber he is afterwards surrounded and attacked by an unnamed elite squad of the emperor’s cultists (a repurposed knights of ren). this would be a cool hostile action scene to help sway Kylo to turn on the emperor with Rey’s help (as he later asks of her).

The only problem is I’m no effects wizard ( I’ve seen it done quickly in Premier but can’t afford that program) and so I’d need someone to make his saber red for me to put into my edited clip.

Should anyone be kind/interested enough to help, I will provide the edited clip and send it via Google drive or mega link. It’s pretty brief as you all might recall.

*I will of course credit whomever for your help should my film edit be completed and made public, which is looking very promising.

big idea I have rn for a scene to insert in a 3-in-1 where after kylo first confronts the emperor he is next seen on the run from the emporer’s imperial guards and then attacked by an unnamed elite squad of the emperor’s acolytes (a repurposed knights of ren). this would be a cool hostile action scene to help sway Kylo to turn on the emperor with Rey’s help (as he later asks of her). The only problem is I’m no effects wizard and I’d need someone to make his saber red for me to put into my edit (since he never comes to the light side and is later slain by Rey). would anyone be kind enough/interested enough to help?

I know this is easily done w/ Adobe Premier Pro and such but I simply don’t have/can’t afford the program. Icouldn’t find a request thread for such things so I’m asking here if someone could render that scene for me as described above. I can do the editing myself afterwards.

I’ve said this before, but I like the idea of doing standalone prequel and sequel bookends to the original trilogy. So five films total, consolidating the best of the PT and the ST into two separate films, and leaving the OT untouched.

I’m with this sentiment. The OT would suffer from that sort of drastic truncation anyway since lots of the unessential elements are still successful/interesting examples of world building.
