Live Free Or Die Hard
Time

Look forward to seeing this one day, I really like the Die Hard films especially Die Hard and Die Hard 2, and hopefully this is return to the style of those first two, as I was slightly dissapointed by the third one, though for what type of film it is, it was a good enough effort but there was something missing from it when compared to the other two.

"Back and to the left"
Time

I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, I actually like the film JFK as work of fiction, but not as something historically correct, I read some of the consipricy books that have been around, I used to think that he was killed by some sort of conspiracy after reading them but in the cold light of day all the evidence seems to point to Lee Harvey Oswald acting alone and some of these books have yet provide real hard evidence of other people involved and some of the theories seem to me shaky and outlandish to say the least.

How many copies of SW SE where sold ?
Time
I would think the Star Wars Trilogy in 2004 sold many many copies and would be up there with the all time best sellers but even then according to a BBC article I was reading on this subject just a few days ago, it still wasnt the top selling live action DVD of all time which it said was the original Pirates of the Caribbean, but the biggest selling DVD of all time it said was Finding Nemo which sold 27 million copies, I think you are getting your information of play.com where the Star Wars Trilogy was their best seller but has now been replaced with Dead Mans Chest as their best selling DVD of all time, the 5 million copies of Dead Mans Chest you are talking about is the estimated first day US sales......

The $$$ spent on the war on terror
Time
I think the war on terror has had mixed results, yes it has it successes - the fall of the Taliban, the fall of the Saddam regime and Al Qeada being weakened, terror plots stopped but it has had alot of failures either the war in Iraq or failure to capture Bin Laden Al Zawahiri the top failures, I dont feel any safer than I did before 9/11 and the War in Iraq in fact i feel less safe, the terrorists have just scattered from Afghanistan to Pakistan, the Middle Eastern countries plus Iraq and set up training bases there, plus it has inspired alot of young muslims around the world including lots here in the UK to join the fight around the world and to attack the UK homeland and the rest of the world, this is going to be a war that will take ages to win and it has while making the US homeland safer, has not made the world safer from terrorism eg Bali, Madrid, London etc and the Iraq war itself is a disaster while it removed the evil Saddam regime it has turned the country onto the brink of civil war with tons of civillans Sunni and Shite muslim dying every day in tit-for-tat violence while coalition forces are still dying frequently, it seems to me to have been very badly planned war where they didnt have any idea what would happen and what to do once Saddam was rightly deposed...

Info: Superman II Donner, and III & IV extended edits
Time

I would like to see a fan editor tackle Superman 2 and make some sort of hybrid, I really enjoyed the Donner cut but there was a few things when I was watching it, I missed from the Lester cut. and feel would look good in a hybrid of the two and maybe including some of the deleted scenes on the disc as well.
I would also like to see extended editions of Superman 3 & 4 I know they arent the greatest films, but it would be interesting to see them with the deleted scenes added.

Limited sw dvds drop in price !!
Time

All the other UK online retailers are still charging full price for these, so this is a just a play.com promotion but it still to much for me to consider purchasing them especially as they have a buy one Bond Ultimate Edition DVD and get one free promotion for £2 more than a single one of these costs at the moment, they have also started selling the limited tin at £33 so I dont know how of them are gonna be sold especially as I assume everyone who wants this already has bought it...

It was always my least favourite Bond film growing up because it didnt have Connery or Moore in it and found less appealing than the other Bond films, but nowadays I appreciate it alot more and like it alot more than I do some of the siller Bond films especially a few in the Moore era.

It is a good Bond film has a decent enough plot but to me it suffers from having no Connery in it, even though it has a good Blofeld in Tele Savalas and a good Bond girl in Diana Rigg he is definatly missed IMO.

I still dont think Lazenby was a great Bond but he was an OK one but would have liked to have seen him have another go at being Bond just to see what he would have been like in a second film..

Final Consensus On 2006 OOT
Time

I still have quite a few non anomorphic DVDs left in my collection including The Thing, Escape from New York, Halloween 2 and Scarface which I brought when I first got my DVD player in early 1999 and I stopped seeing non anomorphic and buying them in around late 2000 they actually look good and still havent replaced them except Scarface which was such a terrible transfer and had to replace it with an anomorphic one because from the screenshots saw I such a difference between the two..

I already own all the previous release DVDs but I do want to get these as the comprehensive extras and restored picture really interest me, alot of UK online companies are doing a buy one get one free offer, I am thinking of getting the Dalton ones in this offer and then get the individual boxsets (Connery Brosnan and Moore) separately, with Xmas coming up I might ask the wife for one or two....

Saw Casino Royale last night enjoyed it tremendously, was actually pretty impressed by Daniel Craig's portrayal of Bond and would put this in my top ten Bond films and am now looking forward to see how they carry the series on from this....

There is a difference Adgitalman removed what he saw as the greatest offences in his edit but kept alot of Special Edition on the DVD Ocpmovie has gone for a De-SE project and removed all the SE elements and created the original theatrical films using the DVD and laserdisk to replace SE elements, both are very good edits It just depends what your looking for either a the complete theatrical film or a hybrid of the OOT and the SE...

Question about the Prequels
Time
I agree with Zombie you dont have to feel bad about liking the Prequels and you can still be a fan of the OOT, I like the PT myself and like the majority of the SE changes George has made to the films.
Its just that the OOT are the films that I grew up with as kid and early adulthood etc etc and feel its sad what has happened to them and they are still even today great pieces of cinema and will always be a fan of it. I dont think anyone here has a problem with you liking the Prequels even though the majority of the people dont like them and critise them, I think they are pretty fair when it comes to people liking them or even people who like the SE as long as what this place is for is respected and the OOT is respected, they have no problem with anyone Ive come to see....

you gave them an opportunity to respond, they refused. hard drive has been overworked is not a valid excuse. the product is covered under the sales of goods act.

if they refuse, contact trading standards, they will give them short shrift over this. in addition, if you bought it by credit card, contact your credit card company and get them involved. they will come down on pc world like a ton of bricks.

BTW. where in UK are you? I'm in leeds. can talk to you about this on phone for more detail if you are interested.

I agree, This is a place you need to speak to, I used to work in an advice centre we would tell people about this place, for them to contact.

Where do I go from here as a SW fan?
Time
I can sympathise with you, as much I like all the films and this site I can forsee a day when I will check out of Star Wars for good because Im not really bothered anymore about future editions TV shows etc etc and do want donate my spare time fully to my other film interests, Ive done it once before and came back but there will be a day I will call it quits for good. As much I like it here I probably would have checked out for good had the '06 DVDs been up to par, but as arent, Ive decided, as there are good things going on at this site and its a good place to be its worth staying around SW to be here...
