No, in this case I figured it out manually. There are however IVTC filters with automatic field matching available for AviSynth (eg TIVTC).

Found the script used to process the raw source to make the Xvid. As I mentioned above, it was pretty aggressive - if I was to do it again today it's likely I would tone it down a bit.

There's an AviSynth filter called AnimeIVTC() that sounds like it is designed to deal with this sort of thing. Might be worth a try.

After you've created and saved the script, open the AVS file with VirtualDub. Using a lossless codec for video compression - I recommend Lagarith - save the video as an AVI file. This will take hours but you only have to do it once.

Now run your MPEG-2 encoder, and select this AVI file as your source. You'll find it speeds along for both passes, because the heavy AviSynth processing has already been done, the CPU is only being used for decoding/encoding.

Sorry it took me so long, I put Ghostbusters on ignore after the second annoying PM I received from him, so I hadn't been following his posts of late.

Based on the fact that this guy has 7 (yes, seven) previous accounts that have been banned, it was only a matter of time before he was banned again. I've therefore decided to save us all the trouble and get rid of him now.

I've moved the thread into the Star Wars fan edits forum, and modified the title so it might get more interest.

The lightsabre effects are well done, and I like the choreography (even if there is a lot of prequel-ish twirling). Some of the editing lacks continuity though; I think this could have been done better.

Tip - render to an lossless AVI first (if you have the space), then use that as your source for your multipass encode.

Interesting to compare the alternate takes/angles that JD inserted into "Star Wars Begins". The colouring of the scenes on the Death Star and the Millennium Falcon demonstrate just how muted the GOUT colouring is.
