(Apologies in advance for the off topic question, I just canā€™t find a better place to ask right now)

Is TheStarWarsTrilogy down? Iā€™ve checked two sites, one says itā€™s down, the other says itā€™s up. Yesterday I just got an error message that mentioned server maintenance, so I assumed the forum was being updated or something. Now it still wonā€™t load the site, but instead of an error message it asks for me to sign in. I assume itā€™s asking for an administrative sign in or something, because putting in my own sign in info doesnā€™t do anything.

I figure itā€™s nothing to worry about, but I wanted to check if anyone else knows whatā€™s up.

Itā€™s now back up.

Yeah, but been getting high CPU errors all day when I try to look at any threads.

Down again, curse you HelloGreedo fans! šŸ˜¦

At the moment Iā€™m still waiting to hear back from the sound facility over the magnetic stereo print. Hopefully, theyā€™re not having trouble with it and just taking their time to produce the best capture. After thatā€™s done (and if itā€™s done well), Iā€™ll likely have the IB Tech reels and two of the mag print reels scanned. Iā€™ll take things from there and even fashion a progress chart in the main post, so those who want to keep track of the project may do so simply by just revisiting this thread.

I was thinking to myself, will you release a grindhouse?

Is 2K a cost issue, as 4K offers all the pixels whereas 2K picks most up.

Itā€™s 800 CZK per reel (Czech currency). Itā€™s roughly 30 EUR per reel, depending on the exchange rate.
Compared to a 4K scan which would be around 100 EUR per reel.

Ah, thatā€™s why, if so continue on at 2K, it isnā€™t that much of a drop. You wouldnā€™t notice the difference, I just was recommending 4K as it picks up all the pixels.

Hey there, thats sound incredible nice for having found any prints regarding this film. First of all what is your goal fro donations? Furthermore have you checked if the picture is cropped from a Scope 1:2,35 version or is there more room on top and bottom in comparison, it would be interesting if its made from a 1:2,20 Scope-print. How long is this version?
Most importantly: Do you want to scan the prints you have ASAP or scan it along with the prints you would like to find in the future?

Hello, we have to raise $810 for this to go through. TO answer your second question, this is a scope print, there is no room. I am not sure how long this is and I would love to scan this soon, but there has not been as much interest as my Temple of Doom 35mm project which has already raised over $200. I would do this as a standalone project, but I would love to scan more of them.

How does this compare to the current releases? will this have correct colors and everything?

Iā€™m not actually aware, williarob has a friend who owns the print so youā€™ll have to ask him. I think itā€™ll be good after seeing others prints from the collector. However when I finish it, it will have good colours.

Could you get info from him about this print and what is the difference between other releases and what not? I wanna know where my donation is going, even tho its small

Iā€™ll get back to you when I next talk to him. You can trust the williarob and the collector as some others have bought prints from him before so you wont be scammed.

This is uncut as far as I know, I believe it is a US print. I know it is in good condition and it is an LPP. So trust me this will be a good contribution.

Hey everyone, a while ago I thought to myself, ā€˜Why is there no project for this?ā€™ So, I have decided to start this project. Williarobā€™s friend has this in his collection, and we have been able to fund the other two so funding this will surely be no problem.

There may also be a theatrical trailer to this so that could be a nice easter egg.

How do you all feel about this?

This is a preservation undertaken by me, Monsieur Hulot (Not literally, or course iā€™m not that old šŸ˜„)

If you wish to be involved in the preservation, just let me know via a PM, help will be accepted.

Please donate towards this, even Ā£1 (or whatever currency you use) will be greatly accepted.

War and Peace (1966) The Year 1812 - 4K scan (a WIP)
Time

Hello All,

Now as some might be aware I am a massive fan of this movie series and I think that the Criterion releases are not as good as they could have been. Now these are no Star Wars with no alterations, but I think this could have benefited from a 4K scan and a higher bitrate. So I am looking for a 35mm or 16mm (if you find a 70mm, iā€™ll take that too!) Of just one of the four films, if more prints are found i will be happy to try and get these as well. However currently I have only found a scope print of ā€˜The Year 1812ā€™ the rest are all cropped to 4x3. If there is interest, I would love to scan this work of art.
