There's one phrase I've learned to hate more than any other:

"It's Star Wars on Bluray!"

So many arguments I've read boil down to somebody saying that.

"Sure, the movies still have all the problems of the old DVD's, and Lucas is the only director in the history of cinema to suppress his original movies, BUT IT'S STAR WARS ON BLURAY!"

+Pi!

I'll be surprised if that "It's Star Wars on Blu-ray" doesn't show up in every review.

Wow. How does this guy have any credibility? I noticed the colour problems immediately (the Tantive's laser blasts were so dull).

You have to remember that Bill Hunt is routinely invited to Skywalker Ranch for previews when the DVD's came out and the Blurays just a few weeks ago.

If he blasts Lucasfilm, then he won't get that invite anymore.
I email him all the time that he needs to take a stand against Lucas tinkering with these films and stop attending these Lucasfilm promotions because he doesn't look objective.

Of course, I dont' get a response, and I'm sure he will give this Bluray set a nice review, and just a passing mention that the movies have been altered again, and no originals in this set either.

Bingo.

Most reviewers will only say negative things about a release once they can get lost in the sea of complaints by other "respected" reviewers.  And that is usually only a few years later.

I'm waiting until Bill Hunt reviews it and then I'm quite sure I STILL won't want the set.

Bill Hunt will praise this release just like he did for the 2004 one.  This is taken from the second page of his DVD review:

Because the transfers were done from the original negatives, you're going to see detail in these films that you've never seen before. You'll notice this right from the opening shot of A New Hope, when the Star Destroyer chases its quarry over the surface of Tatooine. Just look at the subtle swirl of cloud patterns on the planet below - astonishing. Best of all, not a lick of added edge enhancement was required to bring out this detail. What else is good? The color palette here is more lush and accurate than ever before. You're going to be blown away by everything from subtle flesh tones to the vibrant gold plating on C-3PO's chest to the bright orange flightsuits of the Rebel pilots. Contrast is also spectacular, with deep detailed blacks and clear, accurate whites. All three films in this set are just going to absolutely blow you away, and the bigger your screen the better it gets. The Star Wars Trilogy on DVD is the best excuse you're ever going to have to go out and buy yourself a good anamorphic widescreen display. Until true high-definition arrives, it just doesn't get better than this.

Something Stupid From Blu-ray.com

I think people missunderstand the originals? Because most of the action is directed at Luke they seem to think he is the focus of the three movies. The focus of the originals was Darth Vader from the point of view of Luke, how can he redeem his father and bring back the Jedi he was? - P@t Mtl

The Lucas retcon strikes again!
