Highlander II - The ZEIST Collection (Released)
Time

As requested - Info about the REEV

RESTORED EARLY EUROPEAN VERSION

A different version of HIGHLANDER II : THE QUICKENING appeared in Europe in or around 1990, the editing for this version was funded by Nigel Green of Entertainment Productions along with Panzer and Davis. This version had the input of the director and producers and is much truer to the original script. The film contains over ten minutes of additional footage which helps the story immensely (including what happened to Brenda, Conner's girlfriend from the first film) and the narrative is edited together much better than the American version. The (British) European version of HIGHLANDER II has only been seen in America on poor quality bootlegs and usually not in english so most fans are not aware of its existence.
By far the most interesting aspect of the (BV) European Version is the fact that it contains the original ending of HIGHLANDER II as it was found in the script. Bill Panzer said that he and Peter Davis had paid out of their own pockets at the time to shoot this ending. They did this because they believed so strongly in the ending but its reception by audiences was apparently less than overwhelming. The scene takes place on the beach after Conner has destroyed the Shield and the Shield Generator burns in the distance.

ABOUT THIS RELEASE:
This version is a restoration of the original European version of the film which was only scene briefly to European audiences.
Also included on the disc is a restored French trailer which was previously available on an OOP French DVD. The French trailer no longer has subtitles.

Some notable differences -

-Alternate Dialog
-Alternate Musical Cues
-Alternate Footage
-The Original Intended Ending

Highlander II - The ZEIST Collection (Released)

Extended Zeist Version (the one no one has except two people)

Unreleased DVD9

So the version that floats the net is the EZV in FULL Widescreen but b4 the rest of the footage surfaced we had created this DVD.

At first this was a full blown DL DVD -9 with commentary from us about the edit as well as the original score, soundtrack, deleted scenes, enhanced deleted scenes, TV spot , two trailers (including a restored French trailer) and the "To be or not to be" documentary. We also even had a text commentary ( like the Superman II RIC DVD) breaking down each added scene since there was over 20 minutes that was added to the film. This version would have been released with the European scenes in 1:85.1 (this was because wee used the old Japanese DVD footage) So NOW we were ready to go and release it to all of you!  RIGHT? WRONG! When were were getting set to put the film on that demon place a guy by the name of TRACK100 (who is credited on the SDDVD-5 ) found an old widescreen transfer of the European version from a laserdisc (In Italian only) in not to bad quality.  This version had the opening credits and endning credits in Italian (becuase this was the way it was released in Italy in theatres)  but keep in mind we needed only the alternate footage that didn't exist in the other versions only. So now we postponed the release and had to add in all these widescreen scenes, not to mention color correct, enhance, etc.  When we finished we decided that more people would download the film if it was a SLDVD-5 so we cut all the extra features except, the restored trailer, enhanced deleted scenes and the ever popular recreation of the extended script version of the "fairytale" ending. (which was now possible because of the officially released deleted scenes on the 2006 DVD SE)

The special thing about the early DVD here was the restored deleted scenes, the Lou Gramme Music video restored, the restored deleted scenes, and more.

Also, the EXTENDED FAIRYTALE ENDING complete. Not the one that was in the final version. (the entire ball of wax)

About the Music Video - Years ago a fan made music video made it online, I thought it was so well done that I downloaded it. Years later when we did this DVD phineasbg restored it using the bluray. The original was a poorly made AVI. using some crappy software. Here you can see the video in all it's glory and HQ.

Here are the menu's.

This is truely for a diehard FAN like me.

The only bad thing is it is the early version before we finished it all in Widescreen. The Widescreen to full is very jarring but this is the kitchen sink btw complete with the Cannes footage and a ton of other deleted scenes.!

I can tell you that Fanfiltration, Track100, OCPmovie and others plus the entire OT.com and Highlander message boards the 6 versions or restorations would have never happened.

I apologize for keeping this all under wraps for years. Our minds were on another project which will never be talked about.

Return of the Pug (ROTP) - webpage and screenshots (Released)
Time

Puggo, have your noticed anything altered (material) in the REELZ when you converted? I know you don't really look for that stuff but did anything stand or pop out. I used to have a copy before i sold it in the early 2000' and i remember audio differences in some scenes, or altered words and what sounded like different audio takes.

It has been sometime and I may just be filling in my mind about the altered stuff but for some reason i remember cause it struck me.

Anyhow,

Audio, Video?

Team Negative1 - The Empire Strikes Back 1980 - 35mm Theatrical Version (Released)

btw? what cleaning program are you using? There is a difference between cleaning DNR and actually cleaning dirt specs.

In the past DNR was used in a lost of restorations (even Bluray) but in order to keep the GRAIN I was wondering what filter you were using.

I have used Image clean-up before but not for noise for Dust & Scratches only.

Reducing noise creates softness and loss of sharpness and definition.

see the Star Wars new Blurays.

Thanks

Star Wars: Episode VII to be directed by J.J. Abrams **NON SPOILER THREAD**
Time

I really enjoyed the trailer. The best part was the tiny little ball-bearing droid. Years ago George mentioned that was his concept for R2.

but Puggo is right, not much to go on with that trailer. However, it was fun to see the iconic Star Wars ships. not sure about the lightsaber. I guess you could says , it's unholy! lol
