Info Wanted: The Phantom Editor and Ep. III Question!

I recently downloaded the Episode II edit. It's a great cut, but the video quality is very disappointing. It looks decent on a small television, but on my computer monitor, it looks terrible. Just a lot of bad compression for something that was supposed to be DVD sourced. Is there a better version out there?

That's interesting. I download the Phantom Editor's version of Clones Rikter placed on MySpleen and it looks just fine on my digital TV. It is a 48" JVC. I had no problems with the quality, and usually anything of lesser quality will bother me; such as the case with Magnoliafan's versions, at least the two that I have. Maybe I don't know what I'm looking at, as I am certainly no A/V expert.

Info Wanted: The Phantom Editor and Ep. III Question!
Time

Does anyone know how the Phantom Editor feels about Episode III, and if he plans to do an edited version of that movie? Sorry if this has been brought up before, I’d just like to know. Point me to correct thread if so. Also, I downloaded his awesome Clones edit at myspleen. Does anyone know of there is a good quality dvd version of his edit of Ep. I out there anywhere? Thanks for indulging this pointless thread.

Info: HEY! You Fan Editors are all mini George Lucases!!
Time
For what it's worth, I love what some of the better fan editors are doing. Keep it up. If I had the skizilzz I'd be doing it too. God bless you Phantom Editor, and ADM, and Magnoliafan, and Fanfiltration, and OCPMovie dude, and Darth Editous, and Blacksvn, and CBB group, and Greencapt for the De-Assified, and anyone else that's made a fan edit, or extended edition, that I have had the pleasure of downloading. If someone can do a better job using the same material as the filmakers, as long as it's not sold, great. That I can now actually watch The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones in fan-edited forms, and enjoy them, is a good thing. You know what, I didn't evem read all of the first poster's...post. I saw enough to make me throw my two-cent-defense into the mix. Keep it up, fellows.

Well boon, when you put it like *that*...

Having finally brushed aside *most* of my other obligations I think its now time to clean out the hard drive and start looking at the next project to do... of course after ADM's great work there may not be any films left untouched. Maybe 'Gigli'... lol

Not sure yet really though. Not to be stuck in the 'Batman' groove I still need to sit down and check out the extras and stuff on the new 'Batman Anthology' set as I'd told a couple folks I might do 'Batman Forever' next. But that said I'm gonna browse through my DVD shelves and see what else might strike me. I'll be posting any updates here for sure!

"Catwoman," perhaps?

I'm sorry!

The truth about remakes...
Time
Two other good re-makes I can think of that were good, and I'd say needed. "The Fly" and "The Thing." I think they were both remakes, and from what I've gathered most would consider those superior to the originals - but not taking anything away from the originals since I have not seen them. However, it seems the environment those re-makes were made was completely different then the re-make cash-out frenzy currently gripping Hollywood. Though, I do not know for sure. Maybe there have been other greedy re-make eras before, and we are just suffering through the current one.

The truth about remakes...
Time
Without a doubt I am generally opposed to re-makes. I can think of very few that I like, and even fewer that were absolutely worth it. The only one I can bring to mind right now (and I will have to think if there any others) is The Thomas Crown Affair. Fist of all, I thought it was a really good movie. Second of all, it was totally worth it to see Renee Russo's...well, it was just a good movie.

I actually just thought of another movie that was probably worth it. I think Ocean's 11 was a worthy re-make, and in a sense a needed re-make in order for Ocean's 12 to exist, and I really liked that movie better then the first, though I would probably be in the minority in that.

There are probably plenty of good re-makes that are, in the end, pointless. I enjoyed Dawn of the Dead, but there was really no need for it. I feel the same for King Kong. I don't know. Re-makes have been apart of Hollywood way before the current re-make explosion. It just seems every other mainstream movie is a re-make these days, and that does suck!

A SPARK OF HOPE FROM OT.COM WE HAVE A NEW CAUSE !!!
Time
I just sent a payment. Hopefully it is received. I don't post at OT very often, but I love the site and enjoy what Rikter shares with the community. One thing, when making the paypal payment I didn't really know what to choose for a category. I chose "Service." I hope that doesn't effect anything. If there are any problems with my donation through paypal let me know. Thanks!

The Official Greencapt 'Batman & Robin: De-Assified' Edit thread (Released)

Count me in as extremely interested, and I will be looking out on MySpleen for the torrent. I hated the movie, but ADigitalMan's edits of Menace and Clones have given me hope that if there is even just a little bit of decent material in a disappointing movie, then maybe something good can be salvaged from it. Regardless, I hope I can get a copy, and as I'm sure it has no option but to better then the theatrical version, thanks for the effort.

The "ADigitalMan Special Editions" DVD Info and Feedback Thread (Released)
Time
ADigitalMan, first I want to say thank you very much for making these movies tolerable for me to watch. Especially Attack of the Clones, or A Path to the Darkside as it will always be known to me now. One question I did have for you though, and this is in no way a criticism, especially consdering this is post number one for me, and there is this big VOB audio discussion going on, but what made you decide to keep the "Egads! Whatta meesa saying" Jar-Jar line Just curious, as that may be the most cringe-inducing line from the whole series. Anyway, thanks again. I am absolutely loving your edits. I'm trying to pull down Magnoliafan's edits, but I got yours from MySpleen, and yours are DVDs, so that will make them better regardless.

I saw your episode III ideas and think they sound good. Hopefully I'll remember to look for it when it comes out, and hopefully there will be a LOT more deleted scenes to put back into that movie, even though I enjoyed the theatrical release very much. More scenes of Jedis getting slaughtered would be cool.

I still have a few more things I would like to see in my own personal edit of Phantom Menace, and I've been screwing around with editing software, but it doesn't come so easy for me. I had given up until I downloaded your version. You have actually done most of the heavy lifting for me, and now all I have to do is a few smaller cuts. There is one HUGE change I want to try to make, and I'm not sure how to do it, but will figure it out. My version of the Phantom Menace is going to end with Qui-Gons funeral pyre, just after it pans over to Siduous. Somehow I'd like to keep that solumn music going as the credits role, and COMPLETELY remove that painful peace parade at the end of the movie. Damn I hate that scene. It may not work completely, but if I can get it to work it will give that movie a nice ominous ending to serve as a prelude for the dark times ahead. Too much? I'm done. Thanks again.
