Plus the majority of the end title is missing.

I'll be sending the raw files to this guy to have a play with, but I thought I'd post the unprocessed audio up for those who may be curious.

The guy who posted sound clips on theforce.net, had a copy in pal betamax in his dad's collection.
It'd be interesting to see how the quality and integrity of his copy compares with my VHS.

Anyone know how to get in contact with him?

Everyone knows that the picture quality of beta is better than VHS, I wonder if the sound is better also? Either way there's always the possibility that the sections missing from Moth3r's tape might be included here and/or it may have deteriorated less.

.: The XØ Project - Laserdisc on Steroids :. (SEE FIRST POST FOR UPDATES) (* unfinished project *)

I don’t know whether you guys still have access to the X0, but if you do (and I know it’s really a Star Wars project) maybe it would be worthwhile using it to capture a few other laserdiscs that we know will NEVER be released in the future. Like the original THX-1138. None of the time consuming post-production work would be necessary, but I’m sure a lot people would appreciate simply a good clean capture.

Anyway… just something else to think about. I know you’re too busy at the moment, and the money is being stretched.

Regarding the frame cleanup, are you at the moment solely concentrating on laserdisc mastering defects and dirt/scratches/discolouration of the film prints? Or are you dealing with garbage mattes and fixing effects shots as well?

I think they've already mentioned that they're removing the former and leaving the latter alone for the initial version. Another version with actual goofs corrected will be made later.

Eyes Wide Shut (Original Cut Preservation / Edit) (* unfinished project *)
Time
It wasn't projected in 4:3 because most movie theaters can't do it anymore (or so I've been told). Kubrick shot this composed for 4:3. Not to say he didn't pay attention to the widescreen version, but Eyes Wide Shut (and, for the record Full Metal Jacket and The Shining) were all filmed and intended to be scene in 4:3. Widescreening would cut off half the movie.

It has now been confirmed on the basis of his storyboards that he composed for 1.85 (as one would expect) and protected for 4:3.

Info & Help: looking for... other ld-rips to dvd movies ex. blade runner int cut, songs of the south, frighteners dir cut - and much much more...

Is anyone interested in preserving original mono/stereo LPCM tracks from laserdiscs? With the bad habit of remixing classic films into surround sound, it’s beginning to look like the original soundtracks will only ever be presented in a compromised, low priority format for the ‘purists’. For example, they finally included the original Jaws audio on the 30th anniversary DVD except presented in a horribly compressed Dolby dual mono 192kbps (which is actually two identical 96kbps streams), which pales in comparison to the uncompressed LD audio.
