Does Sky show the uncut version? The UK version has traditionally been censored.

I noticed that too Wer-Al. It's possible that it could be the result of an NTSC -> Pal transfer. It's not really noticable during playback though, only when you pause and frame advance.

The Shadow is Open Matte, not P&S. Simply zooming the DVD will result in better quality than transfering a matted laserdisc.

I have a case of nostalgia for the washed out, fuzzy VHS quality I used to associate with this film so I’d love to the pre-cert transferred anyway! The DVD was so glossy it nearly seemed like a different film when I watched it.

If my calculations are correct, a 2 hour film with PCM has the potential to exceed the capacity of a dual layer disc considerably.

Anyway, anyone that needs extras on the same disc can simply compress the material with DVD Shrink and reauthor with any number of extras they desire.

You have to take into account that the X0 DVD’s will using hungry PCM soundtracks unlike most commercial DVD’s.

There’s room for extras on single layer as well. But either way you are restricting the potential bitrate. Every single byte that can possibly be utilised should go towards the image and the PCM soundtrack in my opinion.

I’d hate to see the excellent image preservation of the X0 being sidetracked into a gimmicky super special unrated extended collectors edition. There are plenty of other sources if you want extra features.

All available disc space should be set aside for allocating picture and sound quality with the highest bitrate possible.

The PCM was definitely worth it. It sounds awesome, at times like a completely different film. Even seemingly minor changes like omitting the screams of the witches over the end credits often change the entire tone of scenes.

Great work Matt! The disc worked flawlessly for me.
