THX 1138: The Original Version
Fanfiltration’s Dr. No (The Criterion Collection)
Fanfiltration’s From Russia With Love (The Criterion Collection)

The Phantom Menace: The Original 1999 Theatrical Film (laserdisc transfer)

Info: 2006 GOUT DVD using 'Faces' PCM Sound?

It's essentially ready to ship. (It will comfortably fit on a single-layer DVD.) It is currently in the form of a Sound Designer II file (proprietary to ProTools) - I would propose converting to WAV or Aif for mass consumption.

I will happily send out some discs, but hopefully one or more recipients could make it available via ab.starwars and/or to one of the free sharing services mentioned above.

Belbucus, will you be including the original stereo and mono versions on the disc too?

Thanks for all your hard work!

On the left, a pre-93 laserdisc image. On the right, the 2006 "1993-laserdisc-master" DVD. The image is grainier. This either means that the '93 laserdiscs were sourced from a different, and grainier print than the pre-'93 laserdiscs, which would mean they went through the re-issuing and quality actually went down in some respects, or this image has been artificially grained-up.

More grain is revealed simply because the DVD's are encoded from a higher resolution source than a laserdisc.

You have to take into account that the X0 DVD’s will using hungry PCM soundtracks unlike most commercial DVD’s.

There’s room for extras on single layer as well. But either way you are restricting the potential bitrate. Every single byte that can possibly be utilised should go towards the image and the PCM soundtrack in my opinion.

I’d hate to see the excellent image preservation of the X0 being sidetracked into a gimmicky super special unrated extended collectors edition. There are plenty of other sources if you want extra features.
