Worst cartoon characters ever

"9) Snarf"

I would agree with that.

"8) Seven-Zark-Seven"

At least he was only at the beginning and end of each episode (for the most part.)

"7) "Dr. Sane"

I remember watching this show so much, but I remember so little of it. Guess I should look it up on Netflix.

"2) The Great Gazoo"

I liked him...and his accent too.

"1) Scrappy-Doo"

Definitely #1. And as for Scooby-Dumb - didn't Doo have a sister/cousin as well? The Scooby-Doo show ended up becoming the Patridge family with dogs.

Not that I disagree with you, but the original Grimm stories were even worse depictions than "I think kids SHOULD be scared that the kid they identified with (Anakin) ended up burning up next to a lava river--that's what happens to bad kids who ignore their teachers and get impatient.", which, in itself, is quite an extreme example of a possible consequence of not paying attention to one's teacher (who did, BTW, admit he had failed Anakin, but I digress. ) If you ever get a chance to read them, it's almost appalling what these kids were being told back in the day. Not that the message was bad, but the delivery was very startling. There's a reason why they were called the "Brothers Grimm. I wonder which versions the new movie chose to tell.

And actually, I always wondered about Rock-a-bye baby even before I had kids (or even a girlfriend.) That being said, I saw "A Beautiful Mind" after my daughter was born, and I remember finding myself almost jumping out of my seat when they showed the baby almost submerged in the bathtub. I don't think my reaction would have been nearly as strong had I not been a father.

"Even Episode III, with the gruesome immolation of Anakin--that fits pretty well with the old Aesop's fables and Grimm's fairytales sort of stuff that had darkness and violence in it."

But those stories, while intended for children, weren't intended to entertain them. They were told to children to scare them - morality lessons and so forth. Most of the versions we now know today are quite sanitized versions of the originals, or have lost the original meaning. Some other examples that come to mind are the "Ring around the rosie" chant that apparently refers to the plague, and "Rock-a-bye Baby", where the cradle falls to the ground. This last one is funny, because as pretty as it sounds when sung to a child, it's not the kind of ending a parent would wish on their child.

Fan edit sub-forum?
Time
"However, I think it would be much nicer if we just had one preservation and fan edit 'Folder' on the main forum page and inside that folder we had the 3 'sub-folders'. This is really just a neatness issue. I like things to be neat. "

But this necessitates extra navigational clicks. I don't think this is a necessary step.

Anyone knows why I can't register to theforce.net forums?

If you can give me your Username, I can ask one of the mods there to check the status. Off the top of my head, there's two possibilities.

1) Somehow, you entered the wrong email address (you might want to PM your usename and email address to me, rather than post it in this thread)

2) Your IP address is close to that of someone who was IP banned, though I don't think they get that from your initial registration.

Anyways, if you give me your info, I'll see what I can do.

Kick-ass horror movies
Time
"Raimi apparently indicated that while shot at 1.33:1, Dead was meant to be viewed matted to 1.66:1."

For some reason, this reminds me of Robocop. I know it wasn't fullscreen, but the ratio has changed many times between various releases.

BTW, I just found out a few years ago that the original ending of Army of Darkness was the "Sleep until the future" ending. I'd only known about the "Duel at S-Mart" ending - which I rather enjoyed.

"Lady, I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave the store."

Best Horror Movies?
Time
At least show the Japanese "Ringu". It's much better than the American version.

Someday, I'll get around to watching the Japanese version of "The Grudge". I accidentally rented the Japanese version of Dark Water, and found it to be very interesting, with good spooky parts. I want to see how good a job Jennifer Connelly does in the American version (she's my girlfriend, but she doesn't know it yet. )

Idea: Preserving Episodes 1-3?
Time
"That said, both AOTC and TPM's theatrical versions don't exist on DVD."

Same goes for the OT DVDs. All three are "Straight To Video".

Or, as I recently saw on TF.n:
"I dunno if I'm making sense but what I'm trying to say is that with the new effects in the OT, the OT has become timeless in a wrong way. It used to be a timeless classic now it's a timeless freak."
