Well, most people here (in the US) are returning their new HD sets, because they tend to bring out the worst in analog pictures - especially low-bandwidth cable/DSS channels. The highest resolution source many people use is DVD, which is only SD.

Recently, I made a DVD from two video sources - a digital camcorder and an analog Hi-8 camcorder. On my regular TV, I noticed a distinction between the two sources, but it wasn't very apparent to my wife. When we later watched the DVD on our friend's new HD set, the video difference was night and day. The digital video looked great, and the analog video was atrocious.

I have to say that one of my favorite little scenes was cut from the DVD. When Kirk has to tell Uhura twice to turn off the pojector after the whole crew has watched the space station vanish. It's not a big scene, but it showed how even a seasoned crew member could still be surprised by what they were facing.

They get slower on down the series. I stopped the originals at Children of Dune (I think.) I've read the prequels (House Harkonnen/Atreides/Corrino) and liked them. Now I'm in the middle of the pre-prequels, and they are very cool.

"Also picked up The Dead Zone by Stephen King. I've always liked his adapted (ie:TV) stories, so now I'm actually going to read his books."

Start with the early ones. His elephantitist of the tongue gets worse and worse. It took forever to get through Tommyknockers. I think IT was my favorite overall. Misery would make me physically ill at times, so I'd have to lay it down for awhile.

Well, I gave mr-bridger a shipping address, but have not heard from him.

I will soon be coming into possession of an LD of The Keep, but it's most likely the P&S version. Sucks, but then again, this is the only way I've ever seen it, so it will have to do for now.

I actually have the 2-disc set, and while I've never actually looked for this, I was under the impression it simply jumped between chapters, which means overlapping scenes are repeated. I guess I should actually watch it?
